The earliest rendering has him looking like Hercules. This probably made it easier to sell the Greeks on Christianity. And just like Hercules, the story of their conception is similar. As is the conception of Mary. Young maids getting pregnant by “spirit” was kind of a trope thing in middle eastern/ Mediterranean myths and legends. The Greeks would have been comfortable with it.

I always found it amusing when various identitarians would argue about this topic. Black Hebrew Israelites talk about how Jesus was a black man and various white identitarians argue with them and claim that Jesus was a white man with blond hair and blue eyes. When you know the truth that no man is divine, Moshiach is not God, you realize how silly the arguments are.

      This a lie!
Why Is It Called The Middle East?
The term "Middle East" originated from the same European perspective that described Eastern Asia as "the Far East." The Middle East denotes the transcontinental area between Western Asia and Egypt. It is comprised of 17 nations and an estimated population of 371 million. Some of the area's largest cities include Riyadh, Cairo, and Istanbul.
      Background
The origin of the term "Middle East" is considered to be in the British India Office during the 1850s. It was popularized by Alfred Thayer Mahan, an American naval strategist who was referring to the region between Arabia and India in 1902. Mahan’s definition of the Middle East was the area around the Persian Gulf. Sir Ignatius Valentine Chirol further enlarged this definition to cater for the Asian regions whose territories extended to India.

    6 If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers;
    7 Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you, nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth;
8 Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him:
9 But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.
10 And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die; because he hath sought to thrust thee away from the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
Is this a commandment to rid ourselves of Christians?

Wouldn’t that count as trying to leading everyone to follow other Gods and therefore we are commanded to put them to death?

All the greatest religious art work came from the Renaissance and Byzantine Era.
Princes and popes commissioned art during the Renaissance in order to gain glory for god, the church, and for themselves. Popes like Julius II provided substantial funds for the creation of much artwork during his time.
In addition, Julius II wanted to demonstrate the greatness of his papacy. Monarchs throughout Italy and Europe also commissioned paintings, sculptures, and more to glorify god and themselves. In addition, the patronage of artists was considered an act of virtue. This added to the prestige of anyone who funded artwork.
All this vanity was to glorify their ego’s, palaces, thrones, and monarchy rule. The glory of man is not God”s glory.
Most of these popes and monarchs were notorious political players.
These works do not depict the common person as no one even today has the wealth, desire and means to commision such works.

I found it somewhat disheartening to listen to Rabbi Singer walk down the matrilineal genetic road with the Russian fellow for as long as he did. There was also a notorious German leader who also seemed to place a high value on genetic Jewish blood purity and it never seems to go to a wholesome place. As I recall Abraham's revelation was not made possible via a strong Jewish matrilineal blood line, his parents worshipped idols. The most illustrious King of Israel also had a non-Jewish grandmother named Ruth. Is Jewish blood supposed to be magical or is it adopting a specific theological viewpoint that is paramount?

    • @brynawaldman5790

The answer is mystical not genetic. You're Jewish if you have a Jewish soul, & those who convert have Jewish souls & those w Jewish mothers have Jewish souls (no matter what they believe). There were Yemenites who were totally against the entirety of Kabbalah, and they were led by Rabbi Yihye Kapach. Then there is the "Litvish" Lithuanian Orthodox Jews who do accept Kabbalah but are in disagreement with the chassidim such as Breslov and focus on Torah study, not making pilgrimage to graves of rabbis. I think Rabbi Singer is not being totally forthright. In another video on heaven and hell he said that hell is temporary lasting only up to a year. However, he contradicted that when he said that people who worship Jesus will "never see the Kingdom of God". Ok, I thought. Maybe he believes in annihilationism for the "wicked". Yet, in this video he claims that anyone who gets cremated will also not see the Kingdom. Now the clincher: Apparently, according to Singer every human being has an immortal soul. So, all those people who are "very wicked", worship Jesus or get cremated will "never see the Kingdom of God" but have an immortal soul. What is that if it's not eternal conscious torment? So, that means if Rabbi Singer is right then Jews DO BELIEVE in ETERNAL HELL.
I feel like the victim of bait-and-switch.
One of the things I hate about Christianity is the "turn or burn" idea. Either you worship as we do or you burn forever in hell. However, in a back-handed way Rabbi Singer is really saying the same thing. According to Christians, all those people who are Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu or you name it, who grew up in households of those other faiths and doomed. If a child grew up being taught by teachers, rabbis, parents, friends and mentors, and one day is channel flipping and happens on the 700-Club, is he supposed to abandon everything he was taught all his life and believe what Pat Robertson says?
Isn't the same thing true if the shoe is on the other foot. If Jews are right, and a child grew up Christian, was taught Christianity, went to church every Sunday and was baptized and filled with the spirit, is he supposed to abandon everything 𝘩𝘦 was taught and believe Rabbi Singer?
Does God have no mercy? Is it really true that 144 million Jews and 2.2 billion Christians are gambling on the deity of Jesus and the side that loses goes to hell forever?
Some people don't have the money to afford a cemetery plot. The cost of real-estate is through the roof, especially if you live in a high cost of living area like Washington D.C. or New York. Those people will be cremated. There is no other choice.
I always ask Christians the question: How can a loving God through a living, breathing, feeling human being into eternal torment to suffer forever, and they go round and round with me. I guess I'll have to go round and round with Rabbi Singer on that topic as well.

Do you know my old church of course, they preach the idea that Jesus is the only name by which all men must be saved. And there was the idea of the resurrection and the thousand year reign of God, and all of that… Where everyone who died would be given the opportunity to choose Jesus as their savior. And those who chose not to would just die The second death. And not live on in eternal torment.

It is one of the things that troubles me the most about the Christian church. If you ask "how can a loving God throw people in hell" they will just talk circles around you. They will give you some argument that God had to give us "free will" and therefore the possibility to go to hell forever had to exist. Why does it matter

  • @jessereichbach588
    @jessereichbach588 Рік тому +2

We understand the world around us by comparison. Everything is relative to something else. We know what something is by what it is not.
When "God spoke" the world into existence, when he spoke "light" it created a contrast with "dark". When we put names to things, we give it an identity that stands apart from everything around it. So we go from everything being nameless, without identity, all part of a unity, and we divide that infinitely, by naming things. Or perceiving things as separate.
Just allegorically speaking, I would say that's what's going on there. Not necessarily theologically.
"Word" is "creation" and "life" is "breath". And we in "his image' have the power of "creation" which we initiate by use of "words". We speak the world into existence. For instance, what is a nation? A construct. It only exists because we create it with words.
But we don't have the power to infuse life like that obviously, all though well, if you count the ability to procreate I guess we do. But I woud think that's considered a different type of life creation.
Anyway, we understand things based on what things are not. So if something is not darkness, it is light. If something is a tree, it is not a rock, or a person and so on. And we infinitely divide the "universe" or "everything".
I mean, look at modern society, we created all of this, everything we have, and it all began with words. At every step. First comes the word, then comes the work.

They are Orthodox what do you expect? Everyone else knows these were all pagan gods originally and that our ancestors were pagans before henotheists before monotheists.
I mean only 10% of jews around the entire world are Orthodox. And only maybe another 10% believe that Torah is actually the direct word of God.
So that's like maybe 20-30% let's say, just to be fair, that believe in the biblical narrative. Which is way, way lower than the percent of Christians who do.
It's because we grow up reading Tanach, in Hebrew, and most of us before we even have our Bar Mitzvah's, realize this is just the mythology of our people.
And today, you'll find most Rabbis even, outside of the Orhtodox/Conservative tradition, who fully understand this
Rabbinical/Orthodox Judaism is only one variety of Judaism, and only practiced by a minority of Jews.
Orthodox believe it's 100% the word of God. And battling cognitive dissonance usually goes nowhere. Just makes the person stand firmer in their position. As they actually see vehement counter beliefs as support for their own beliefs. Kind of like "see this is what God wanred us about, people spreading deception etc.." .
I mean, heck even in Tanach, Josia goes around sacrificing all the human priests on the alters of the other temples and burns all the high places, forcing everyone to worship in Jerusalem.
You've read the book I assume. The only way people, good people, can accept that the god written about in that book is a omnipotent, omniscient, God of love, compassion and forgiveness, is through immense cognitive dissonance and self delusion. Because the God that's written about in the text, obviously takes on human form in the beginning, yet they deny that and convince themselves of it. The god in the earlier parts is obviously not omnipotent or omniscient, he fights a Leviathan and needs Job's help in defeating it, he's jealous, vindictive, petty, unjsut and unrighteous. A true storm and war god. And look how Moses has the Levites slaughter all the other Israelites that built the golden calf?
People who read this as much as Orthodox do should easily notice how ridiculous this is i that were the creator of the universe, but they just can't even see something so obvious. It's self deception more than anything. Imagine today if they tried implementing biblical Torah law, doling out punishment like the Sadducees did? 99% of Jews, Orthodox included would violently revolt, in reality. But ask that same group of Orthodox now, and they can't even see it in the text.
Samson, I mean, for religious reasons, because "the people were wicked", killed like 3,000 people and toppled an entire cultural center. Today I think we would call him Hamas. But they can't see it even though its right in front of their nose.
And don't even get me started on the caste system. It's no surprise why there are more Levites and Cohen, a higher proportion, among the Orthodox than non Orthodox Jews. Extra incentive, extra specialness. And I;m not sure if you are aware, but modern Orthodox, like their Pharisaic ancestors, believe Kohen have special magic powers. I'm not even kidding. Look up "tzaraas/tzaraat" and especially "house tzaraas". It's a spiritual disease, that a human, or a house, or an animal or an object can get. But one that doesn't become active until the Kohen, or priest, verbally states that you are afflicted or "tamet" unpure,.
They STILL believe this to this day. So trying to get them to accept that these were all just Canaanite gods. And that we were just Canaanites doing Canaanite things until a few of the power hungry, the Levitical castes, forced this caste structure on the population and put themselves at the top of the social hierarchy. Then crafting a unifying mythology to suggest its always been this way and that they are in fact a lineage instead of a disparate group of zealots. I mean we can even look at modern Kohen genetics and plainly see they descend from over 21 different male lineages. Yet thousands of Jews still run around claiming to be Kohen or Levite, insisting they are directly paternally descended from Aaron and Levi. Which according to the genetics, is absolutely impossible. In fact, the genetics suggest if Aaron existed, he wasn't descended from Levi. Which makes sense because all the "tribes" were first tribes, before they became the 12 sons of Jacob/Israel. The myth was crafted round the already established tribes, not the other way around. And he men of these tribes were not the 12 sons of one man.
So I don't know, I think most Jews understand this. But here you are dealing with Orthodox thinking and it's just going to go in one ear and out the other I suspect. Ignored like its not there. haha.

The church was built by Jesus, it was built on Jesus, it was built for Jesus, it is named after Jesus it is located in Jesus, it gets its power from Jesus, it does the work through Jesus, has the vision looking right at Jesus, it don't celebrate nobody but Jesus, it's a worshiper of Jesus, does the power and work through Jesus and ultimately, will be married to Jesus, and for eternity will reign with Jesus.

In Europe, both Jews and Italians were referred to as swarthy and "black", because there is very little difference between the appearance of southern Europeans and Levantine populations. Very little. From a genetic standpoint, almost none at all.

NO FURTHER SCRIPTURES were given to mankind by God AFTER Mt. Sinai, therefore, Christianity absolutely did NOT come from God!

      The Only True God
      Deuteronomy 6:4
With reverence and adoration we bow our knees unto Jesus Christ, to give to our God the glory due His name. And we now make mention that His name is exalted above every name that is in heaven and in earth. Hence, the demons of hell are enraged. The religious world is astonished and the tents of the fearful pilgrims are being violently shaken by the rushing mighty wind that is moving through the land proclaiming the NAME of the Lord. He who was slain is worthy.
We have beheld the Lamb of God. We have honored the Prince of Peace. We rejoiced in the rock of our Salvation and have walked in the light of life. We have seen that Christ was our Shepherd as well as the door to the fold. He is the root and offspring of David as well as his son and his Lord. We have claimed Him as our High Priest in heaven and the offering that was slain for our sins. He is the Temple of God and the shewbread, the veil, the altar, and the Lamb. He was servant and master at the same time.
We have found Him to be the foundation of the church and the chief corner stone thereof. He is a destroying storm, and covert as well from the tempest. Considering all these things, it is no wonder that the people cried, “What manner of man is this? . . . Who art thou? . . . Whom maketh Thou thyself?”
      Acts 2:38; 4:10-12; 20:28; Ephesians 4:5; Colossians 3:17 KJV

      What Think Ye of Christ?
All the Jews believed In Christ and looked for Him to come (Luke 2:15; John 1:25-41; 4:25-29; 7:26-27, 31, 41-42; 10:24; 12:34), but the question among them was whether Jesus was the Christ. Many believed He was, while others say, “Nay!” It was for this reason that Jesus asked the Pharisees their opinion of Christ, and whose Son (after the flesh) is He. And when they said, “David’s son,” it was here that Jesus astonished them by proving that Christ was both David’s Lord and Son. And if the Spirit said that the Christ was both Son and Lord, why should they reject Him. That shut their mouths from that time forth. They saw only one side of the office of Christ.
Thus it is today, many see only the one side of the office of Christ and are fighting like one “mad” since Christ is being revealed as both Father and Son, crying “Anti-Christ,” when in fact their own attitude is opposing the exaltation of Christ Jesus is more the spirit of anti-Christ than those they are accusing.
Only through the acknowledgment first that Jesus Christ is the Son of God will any man be able to get the revelation that He is God himself. No man that denies his Sonship will ever call Him God. The Jews deny His Sonship. Do they call him God? No! But we acknowledge His Sonship by the manifestation of His life in us and now through the Spirit’s revelation behold in Him the Mighty God of Jacob, the Everlasting Father, the coming Prince of Peace.
      Acts 2:36-38; 4:10-12; 20:28; Ephesians 4:5; Colossians 3:17 KJV

@Anthony Sanders, the Greek New Testament isn't scripture, and the Gospels are not written by eyewitnesses, nor do any of them claim to be authored by eyewitnesses. "Matthew" is not written by the apostle Matthew, and "John" is not by the apostle John. Matthew and Luke copied from "Mark", who was certainly not an apostle.
If Jesus was born of a virgin, then he was not "the root of David" on his father's side, and he doesn't have anything spiritual from his father's side.
To be the root of David, a person has to be of the seed of David from the father's side, since tribal identity is paternal. We don't even know if Mary descended from David of the tribe of Judah (not that the mother's side conveys tribal identity anyway). We are not given Mary's genealogy - Luke doesn't provide it, and neither does Matthew.
