No one stole from anyone, Jojo bought the rights to the song. Brit Smith recorded it before but it wasn't her song either. It's a common thing in pop music. Half the American hits in the 50s and early 60s came from the Brill Building in NYC where songwriters would write songs for others to record, and artists would buy the rights & record them. Jojo claiming she wrote the song is ridiculous, but she didn't steal from anybody if she rightfully bought it.

The problem is Jojo did not add anything to the original. She actually did the opposite and stripped the song of meaning and relatability with some of her creative choices. That just makes jojo’s version a bad cover. A bad cover is not what any artist wants as the face of their rebrand.
She’s never said “I wrote karma” and in fact she’s disclosed 2 weeks ago on her podcast the the song was pitched to her and that she bought it. Do an ounce of research before spreading misinformation

to the people saying Brit Smith wrote this song: she didn’t. the people credited with writing the song are Desmond Child, Tim James, and Antonia Armato. my guess is the rights were sold to Jojo, and it’s not unheard of for lyrics to be changed to better suit the singer, which is probably what she’s talking about in this video. i’m not saying i like jojos version (i don’t plan on listening to the whole thing, and what i’ve heard of it is not really my taste) just wanted to let y’all know that just because someone sang a song first doesn’t mean they wrote it
lol ofc she didn’t write the song. that’s how artists work. it was a scrapped project by brit smith and she gave up the rights to it. then jojo’s team presented it to her and she sang it. it’s not a “copy”, it’s just not her original song.
It's one thing for a song to have a ghost writer and it's another thing for the song to have been composed over a decade ago and talk like you just wrote it. I'm sure artists who have songs presented to them like you are describing will still contribute to some of the songwriting, or will have the song written specifically for them. It’s not a secret lol. Jojo posted a podcast 2 WEEKS ago talking about how the producer Antonina (btw one of the writers) pitched the song karma to her and encouraged jojo to buy it 😂 does anybody do an ounce of research or fact checking anymore???
She's literally doing what Miley Cyrus did back in the early 2010s lol its just the way she's claiming this is a brand new thing no one's ever done or seen before
Girl what range
no literally. that’s how you know she doesn’t even try to better her singing. she can easily afford voice lessons but she obv isn’t taking them. i am a singer and i know for a fact that “high note” is one that anyone could easily hit with a little bit of help. like if u want ppl to support u, why not actual try to better your content.

Ugh, her singing is genuinely bad!!!
While it’s not true she “stole” the song (literally everything about is perfectly legitimate and so far I have not even seen evidence that she is pretending she wrote the song), it’s definitely true that both the mix and her singing is so freaking awful 😭
Literally 😭 the range of the song (based off of the two lines she mentioned) isn’t even two octaves likee
Dude for real this is the whole reason I came to the comments like it's embarrassing to say that's a hard range.. it doesn't take a lot of practice to extend your range to hit the easiest notes they are not that far from each other omg
Brit Smith released it on her Spotify guys
Where mileys version? The original version?
@@RED-my9hl It probably wasn't finished. Or Miley doesn't want to release it
Heres the info you guys need to know. A guy wrote the song and it was originally for Miley Cyrus, Miley Cyrus didint want the song so it got passed to Brit Smith. Then it got passed to Jojo because Brit never decided to officially release her music video or her version of the song. @@mikrokosmos-wz7mx I understand not liking her and not wanting to support her, but it is common practice in the music industry to buy songs. And most of the artists never disclose the fact that they did. Jojo actually did disclose the fact that she bought karma, and she doesn’t need to mention it at every single interview.
