She was only trying to show off her daughter, no other intention. It’s normal in Vietnam! Sometimes parents are so proud of their children that they tell everyone about them. Don’t overthink it.
@@baekimin21 I understood her just right. And I, unlike you, did not think badly of her intentions at all. Yes she is showing her daughter to the foreign man but not to sell her for God's sake, she is hoping that he might like her and ask for her email or Facebook account. Her intentions are noble not vile like you thought. Every good mother wants her daughter to marry a good man and she liked Gabi. I was laughing because mothers in the Middle East do the same thing but with their lady friends and neighbours. So get your mind out of the gutter sir!
@@josephjasem7926 and read my comment again, I don’t think bad about her. I’m fixing you guys’ wrong idea about her intention. She showed him her daughter’s facebook avatar because that’s the most beautiful picture of her (we all do that). Vietnamese are very careful when choosing a husband for their girls, they don’t randomly pick one foreigner without knowing his background (job, family…) and financial condition. And due to cutural reason, she will actually prefer a man that lives NEAR so her daughter can come back home often. Hence, based on what she said and our culture, I must fix it that you guys got it wrong. Man don’t be stubborn when people explain things to you. You’re just guessing when I use common sense.
I don’t think she is trying to hook you up to her daughter. Children are everything to parents in Vietnam in most cases. She is properly very proud of her daughter that’s why she is showing you her photos.
I think in this case she was, as she told me several time that she was single and that I should add her on Facebook. (Not in the video) But obviously at the end of the day it doesn’t really matter. I thought it was funny and entertaining… and a bit click bait 😅 I fully believe that in Vietnam children are everything to parents. That lady was super sweet and she had the best intentions. I didn’t mean to be disrespectful, just entertaining. ✌️😉🇻🇳
@@ridewithgabi I’m Vietnamese so I know what went on. The lady is so proud of her daughter being able to attend university in Saigon. People in the rural are proud when their kids especially the first generation attend college. Vietnamese people are friendly to foreigners. They like to tell other Vietnamese that they have foreign friends to show they’re open minded. I don’t think she wanted you to marry her daughter.
Yes she is trying to hook him up with the daughter, there’s no doubt about it. But it’s not for prostitution, she just wants a husband for her beloved daughter. It’s quite cute.
@@ridewithgabi agreed. Why are some people upset at a parent trying to match-make? It goes on everywhere…all the time. I tried to hook my son up with a cute optometrist recently.
Nice one Gabi I'm sat in my living ROOM in the UK working from home, your video popped up and I'm thinking. LOOK AT THIS GUY, THIS IS WHAT I SHOULD BE DOING!!!
Hahaha.. Mate, your face expression crack up laughing when you asking for directions and the guy talk to you in Vietnamese. Anyway very nice road trip videos. Thanks for sharing. 👍🙂
Vietnam looks awesome. Gabi, I recently found your channel, subscribed, and I am traveling to many places by watching your videos. Fantastic! Keep the videos coming. I was sad by the video on Pattaya of 2021 that you made. I think Pattaya will come back, but not like it was before the Covid. Take care.
I think you're going to really enjoy the bike ride from South to North VN Gabi. The best part of going from South to North (vs from North to South) is that the scenery gets more spectacular as you go North, towards Phong Nha in Central then the big/mind blowing ending is in the North, in Sapa or Ha Giang Loop.
I believe you :) but unfortunately for this roadtrip I will stop in Da Nang. I don’t have too much time and I also don’t want to risk with the weather in the north. I will come back for another roadtrip, just doing the north properly. Ideally during the dry season 😉🇻🇳
@@zetaseva1435 I am not familiar with cross border travel regulations unfortunately, especially as a 3rd country national, ie a non-Vietnamese and non-Thai. Sorry
It was very lucky that you did not make a fool of yourself like most foreign men when they go to another countries especially in South East Asia or Asia. It is a matter of culture difference. When the parents came from rural areas with low education, they work very hard in supporting their children to get higher education. When they are able to achieve their goals/dream, they like to show their achievement to everyone. By the way, it is a rule that hotels in Vietnam, South East Asia, Eastern Europe, ... to keep your passport until you check out because there are instances where guests skipped the checkout process and didn't pay for their rooms.
Hi there Gabi. I have to say that you are a hero in the rain, I was not in Dalat when I visited Vietnam but I tasted their wine, very good if I remember correctly, me and my wife have become interested in returning to this glorious country again, we love Asia. Waiting for the next video from you, so fun to follow your road trip. Take care 🌞🌧
Is it normal that they ask to hold onto your passport for a night in a hotel? I had a bad experience with that at a motorbike rental shop in Thailand once and I'll never make that mistake again. Just asking because you seemed so comfortable letting the guy keep it.
That’s the excitement and uncertainty of doing those kind of roadtrip in south east Asia. You never know for sure what is going to happen and how you are going to handle things. But somehow, everything always gets solved and fixed 😉
There’s about 5 million motorcycles in HCMC alone and vulcanizing and repair shops are everywhere. I had a minor collision with another motorcycle in the Nha Trang area. I pulled into a small repair shop, they remove the brake pedal, hammered it straight, put it up on a hoist to check to make sure the brake was set properly and then said “no charge”. (My guide gave him 5 cigarettes and he was very happy about that). Another time, I was seemingly in the middle of nowhere and noticed my front tire was going flat. I pulled over and saw a vulcanizing shop across the street. They fixed the flat for about $.50 Canadian
The Thais & The Vietnamese must be oblivious to noise. My biggest fear while riding around Thailand is a Thai guy with a tile saw. Can not remember all the times I have stopped at the perfect little mom & pop resort, away from the road, no bars around, no roosters, few other guests & a Thai guy shows up around 7 at nite with his saw & starts to work. They must think it is a musical instrument & play into the wee hours of the nite. If it is too loud, then you must be too old.
You think highly of yourself and so proud thinking the mother offered her daughter to you. You are very disrespectful to the mother and her daughter. How can you conclude when you hardly understand each other with the language barrier? Do not make it a clickbait to have fun and get more views. It is disgusting.
One time when I was in the Thailand countryside a guy offered me his sister. Then his sister walked to us while we were talking. I told her that her brother said I could have her. She slapped him a good one ☝️ 😂
