They got really lucky with this area because it looks genuinely creepy even in the daytime. The trees make it look so wide open yet claustrophobic at the same time.

As a a boy scout who has went to this camp for 2021 and 2022 its almost weird to see it shown in such a "creepy" way. When I was there everything was REALLY fun and carefree. Really nice to see your own tour own it tho!

Cool video. One of the things that attracts viewers to Friday the 13th, I suspect, is that it calls to mind childhood freedom from cares and being deliciously scared. One remembers those late nights spending time with friends and knowing that, for all one's fears, one is protected and can live on the wild side. It might also have something to do with living in the countryside as a child and/or being afraid of the dark. At least these are among my associations.
The movie itself is just passable, made truly eerie and haunting by an excellent score which is by far the strongest feature of the film. The kills were quite shocking for that time. Another strong feature was the anonymity of the killer for much of the film, the killer stalking her victims with that great score in the background. Not knowing the killer nor the killer's motivations contributed to the haunting quality of the movie.
As for the sequels, they don't work because they don't make sense. We're supposed to believe that Jason had the wherewithal and know-how to survive in the wilderness, build a makeshift shelter for himself (with a toilet), become an adept killer who manages to find Alice after she beheads his mother. So he manages to do all that yet for whatever reason never reconnected with his mother all those preceding years. Maybe if a background story had been introduced to explain this, the sequels might have made more sense.

Awesome video, so glad I came across it. I am going for the Crystal Lake tour on October 13th and will check out the towns as well. This coming Friday is Friday the 13th.

Great vid and nice job embedding the clips. This camp was old back in 1980….. it looks like kind of a dump now. Hard to imagine kids in 2022 getting excited about some shacks in the bush.

@@mrslaura935 I'm not trying to be nasty or start a fight. There Friday the 13th movies, they are fun but sort of silly and rarely make any sense. As far as your question,I suppose Jason in some sort of zombie that cannot be killed,if they killed him off they couldn't have made 900 sequels.

    • @pennwoman

I watched a documentary & the producer said the same thing that how could Jason come back to kill because Jason coming up in the lake in the last scene of the movie was actually a figment of Alice’s imagination - he wasn’t real. But the producer said he was glad the writer disagreed with him because then there wouldn’t have been the Friday the 13th brand & he was so happy his logic didn’t win. So it actually doesn’t make sense but people don’t seem to mind because it’s just fantasy.

Nice video and fun. My only critique is that the camera was all over the place. Slow down on all the movement when shooting video. also line up still shots in both current video and movie scenes.

Thanks. In my defense, when I went on this trip I had no idea I was going to get into the camp. That was literally a complete last minute miracle as stated in the video. Because of that, I wasn’t “prepared” for matching up shots etc. I had no screengrabs and everything I captured was me winging it and going completely on memory of the film. I’ve been doing this for years, and had I known I was gonna get access to the camp on this trip, believe me it would have been much different. I had to make the footage I got work the best I could cuz it’s all I walked away with. Thanks for watching, and thanks for the input!

@@wjd329 Heard that. Thanks for the feedback and information. Funny, I was "13" when I saw the original Friday The 13TH in the Framingham Ma. Cinema. My friends older brother worked at the cinema which is how we got in to watch it as it was rated R and we were too young. Scared me something terrible!!!!!!! It really did.

is that camp functional or is it just for tour guides? they could make so much. money if they opened it up all the time. For $200 I find it meh

    • @wjd329
      @wjd329  29 днів тому

@@Jennytheaquariangoddess it is an active Boy Scouts camp so this place is very active. They do offer a variety of tour options from the very basic spots to the hardcore (every location)….they even do overnight stays. If you’re a big fan of the film it’s a must do! Mostly because it’s inaccessible any other way. I typically prefer to do my own venturing around but I must say these guys add plenty of time to roam around each location and get whatever footage/photos you could want.

I think they should have someone dressed like Jason stand in the distance while doing these tours. Don't interact with guest just have him watching during certain spots from a far.

Nice vid. I went last Saturday on the 14th, it was a good time but I went in 2013 & it was better. Back then after the tour they gave everyone about 45 minutes to walk the grounds on your own to take pics, this time it was a little too strict on you being away from your guide. They didn't even want you walking away from your group to go to the bathroom. The free water bottle was nice though.

Welcome to my hometown, Blairstown, N.J. my aunt & mom worked in that diner back when they were in high school. The Old Mill was also a library when my mom & aunt (and of course my other uncles'), went to high school. A murder took place in the Old Mill and they shut that down. Its used as storage the last I heard. The Founder of Blairstown, (James Blair), is buried in the cemetery behind the mill.

In Alice’s cabin which is also used for the intro scene with the sleeping kids (1958), there seems to be some kind of middle section with a wall stretching half the way through the cabin but it seems to be gone in later years according to the film location films I’ve seen.
