Based on Elmore Leonard’s novella “Fire in the Hole,” Justified was developed by Graham Yost and stars Timothy Olyphant as Deputy US Marshal Raylan Givens, a lawman who finds himself drawn back to his home state of Kentucky. In Justified’s final season, the long brimming conflict between Raylan and Boyd Crowder (Walton Goggins) will finally come to a head. The series co-stars Walton Goggins as ‘Boyd Crowder;’ Nick Searcy as ‘Chief Deputy Art Mullen;’ Jacob Pitts as ‘Deputy Marshal Tim Gutterson;’ Erica Tazel as ‘Deputy Marshal Rachel Brooks;’ Joelle Carter as ‘Ava Crowder;’ and Jere Burns as ‘Wynn Duffy.’ Yost wrote the pilot and serves as Executive Producer/Writer on the series. Executive Producers on the series include Carl Beverly, Sarah Timberman, Michael Dinner, Fred Golan, Dave Andron, Don Kurt, Taylor Elmore, Timothy Olyphant, and the late Elmore Leonard. Justified is produced by Sony Pictures Television and FX Productions.

Raylan Explains How Firearms Work - Scene | Justified | FX
/ fxnetwork
Raylan Givens is probably my absolute favorite TV character. Timothy Olyphant did such a killer job; especially opposite Walter Goggins. What a pair. What a show.
They dug coal together
@@Ravenholm337 yeah I've seen the whole series lol I was talking about the actors, really.
@@yamueljackson I mean, metaphorically
Walton* Goggins
I'm so angry about City Primeval being complete trash 😡
" I dunno. Sounded good." Great dialogue.
the basis for all modern politics.
Gives the writers plausible deniability as well as a good joke. Perfectly executed.
“Can I just have a couple gallons” 😂😂
Raylan is king
It won't be long before we'll be sayin:" Can I just have about 8 liters?"
i gotta give a nod to the camera framing in this scene. You see her walk out and across the back of the frame but they hide her to the side to make Raylan's lines punch harder when the camera pans left to reveal her drawn and ready. *chef's kiss*
This scene made it clear that Givens is not a senseless killer, but quite the opposite.
I could not have said it, as well as you did, but, was thinking along those same lines. I really liked Raylan's overall reationship with Loretta, that fatherly, loving protective style of caring.
Drawn and ready in that goofy stance. Weaver was cool for about 15 minutes before anyone with a stop watch and the ability to count score on a target realized keeping both your arms straight is better.
...and it presents armor better.
I miss this show a lot... The dialogues were insanely great
Best I’ve ever seen in a show
It's second show is good, and Boyd is back. He escaped at the end of the first season, so I assume he's gonna be in season 2. Justified: City Primeval
Such a garbage show. No where near as good as the original justified series.
@@TwerkuliesThe reboot series was awful, what are you talking about? Didn’t feel like Justified at all. Now with Boyd back? Could be something fun
Dialogue is great, having officers on opposing sides of offender in potential shooting, even when not direct line, is poor tactics.
this was legit a great show , great actors , great scenes , great lines
It use to be a great show. I loved it myself. Then in 23 they revived it and I was thrilled. Then I watched the new season and PUKED MY GUTS OUT.. They went FULL BLOWN WOKE! For God's sake that had Raylin hooked up with some OLD UGLY BLACK WOMAN. They could have done the mixed race deal and maybe pulled it off if they used some young hot black girl but they picked some old ugly woman that happened to be black as well. Had they picked some old ugly white chick it would be the same. I'm shocked they didn't have him with a TRANNY myself. THEY GO WOKE AND THEN BROKE. I did see the next season they're bringing back Boyd Crowder so maybe just maybe the show can be saved
That was SUCH a good program. Timothy Olyphant is a very underrated actor.
Every time I see him, I just think of "giant aluminum hands!"
The first run of this show was just so amazing. I re watch it all the time. Great performances, great dialogue and just the best writing in TV history.
We will, likely, never (AND I EMPHASIZE-"NEVER"), get this high style of dialogue/scene writing, again. R.I.P E Leornard
One of the best series of all time
One of the best parts of this show is the trust that develops between Raylan, Rachel, and Tim.
And Tim was also criminally underutilized. He stole every scene he was in.
@@alittlecreepywhenyou He was my favorite of the marshals and that includes raylan
@@MauiWowieOwie It was his low key PTSD from his time in service that made him a solid standout.
@@alittlecreepywhenyou hear that
edit: his duel with the guy boyd served with; i think it was boyd's sergeant maybe? anyway he had the drug habit; i feel like that plotline between the way that villain was and the way tim was, and them having a similar background -- and it was tim who put him down....peak tim is all
With that short barreled weapon, the muzzle flash may have been large enough to do it.
🟦…Imao, The scene would'a been more dramatic if the guy had a revolver.
As a European this show is exactly how I envision Kentucky.
No, it's Hollywood's version of Kentucky. I know, I grew up there.
The real version you wouldn't like.
@@champion20199 I visited Kentucky one time and never went back. There are some states you couldn’t pay me enough to stay in overnight.. Mississippi, Alabama, Nevada, Arizona and those are just four😢 off the top of my head. I’m not saying that the states are not beautiful, but some of the people there were just not too friendly. I did however, in Nevada have a woman tell me. “ not all of us think like that ignorant person that you just dealt with”. I really appreciated that lady on that particular day.
Kentucky is a fine state. Once the union finally falls under the weight of its hypocrisy, men will remember how to structure a decent society and things will improve
Well it's now wholly inaccurate but you should notice that the biggest and nicest city in Kentucky is only in one scene when Raylan visits his ex when she's moved to civilization with her sister.
The primer cap explosion goes into the round, but there's that gunpowder... Honestly, the longer that took, the worse the perp's chances.
One of the best shows of all time! What a great character.
I think this is probably my favorite scene from the entire series. I love how much he cares about those who are vulnerable, and how great the links he will go to to protect them and to apprehend or eliminate the villains. We could use more good cops like him, we have too many that are not.
"how great the links he will go" - that's a good one.

Sorry disagree a little... best scene ever was the apricot scene where Raylen helps save a pregnant woman... I don't have a link handy but it was amazing.
one of the best shows ever made. Up there with all the regular hype like the Sopranos, Wire, etc.

A depressingly vast portion of people _have_ finished school which don't know that it's the fumes which burn.
Yeah, it’s important for schools to teach gasoline as a subject.
@@uncletrick1 You're being sarcastic, but gasoline has been a common resource of an adult's daily life for almost a century now. 😑
I’ve cared for at least two tween males with severe third degree burns from refilling a hot lawnmower with gasoline. Both said they didn’t know the risk.
I was taught in my physics HS class. It’s the fumes that ignite. Liquid gasoline doesn’t explode. It’s why they inject fuel atomized with air from the carburetor into the cylinders to create the explosion that drives the internal combustion engine.
... that don't know.
Depressing so many finish school that didn't learn basic English yet try to sound smart.
It's ok that others don't know. It's ok that you don't know. It's not ok to be told and keep doing the same.
Who… cares???
Loved this show! Loved Raylan. Loved the dialog. Loved the supporting cast! Rachel went to spot him, gave him a heads up when he was on his way out and had him covered the entire time without him ever knowing and juat Raylan talk him down. Perfect supporting cast. Loved when she did the same when we meet Cover. "Rachael, will you please shoot Cover if he aims that gun anywhere but at the ground?" ..."I will if you take a step to the left" lol Great show!
Love the moment where Givens says his name, and you can see comprehension in the bad guy's face.
Raylan is the kind of cop we all should aspire to be. Only shoots the bad guys, but works to talk them down as well.
Sure, as long as you ignore all the tough guy fantasy bullshit. Too many cops don't.
How about putting on a badge for a year or two, then come back and tell us that cops shoot people without a legitimate reason.
@@StudleyDuderight you assume I haven’t, and have seen the show? Raylan shoots a lot of people. I mean a LOT. Any real LEO would have been off the force a long time ago.
@@StudleyDuderightyou don’t have to walk a mile in someone’s shoes to judge their actions. It’s statistically a very safe job, and the firearms training of most police is somewhat poor.
@@MrRayMac1963 If you had been a cop then you would know most cops behave exactly exactly Raylan does.
Clarification: What I meant is most cops do not go to lethal unless there's a reason to.
The chances of that going off were highly likely. Speaking as a former firefighter with a ridiculous amount of time in class. With the gasoline on his upper body running down, I am 90% sure some ran down his arm. All the liquid does is bring the vapor closer. If he were using a wheel banger rather than a semi, I'd give it 100% on two discharges. Not that Raylan would've let the second one clear, but...
Raylan: "I will make Rachel do the paper work" Haha
One Raylan says in this will stick with me forever, "there's no such thing as being on time, your either late or your early.
how the fell did I ever miss this show? These characters? And amazing story lines? Incredible....
Right there with you. I didn’t discover this legendary gem of a show til 2020!
@@ComedyBros5 LoL. As a kid, I learned some incredible lessons watching westerns. And this is one incredible modern day western.
It's not thay hard to miss, since it came out when TV series were nothing but procedural cop shows.
@@VandalAudi but this is very far from being a “procedural cop show.”
@@ComedyBros5 yes it is, but that's what people thought of when they heard US Marshall.
Its crazy how Olyphant has played a Marshall in 5 unrelated shows.
Awesome show! Love the fact that they brought it back. I hope they make more.
Justified was one of the best shows ever in the history of television
To answer her question: Yes, very likely he would have.
One of the truly great tv shows of all time
Love this show. Need more like this (not exactly like this, but in the same vein of quality and non-preach-y entertainment), and NO that does not mean waste our time by remaking this series!
I really wanted to see him turn into The HUMAN TORCH 😂
Justified is a 10/10 show. Amazing writing, acting, and filming. The cast was fantastic! That new mini series was a dreadful disappointment.
Yep totally agree with mini series was flop
Scenes like this are what made Justified a great show
Fantastic Show!!! I have re-watched the whole series 3 times!!!
This and the West Wing are my 2 favourite series ever. The dialogue is so excellent.
This show was just a different level of good
One of the best shows ever.
Never ever heard of this show ... and now I definitely want to see it!
I'll always remember watching the crap out of this in high school. Such a good show.
To answer your question, yes. Human torch. I'm a mechanic.
Ditto. I had to respond to an emergency where a flash-over took place as a mechanic was working an electrical problem on a car with an open container of gasoline nearby. Looked like a deep second-degree sunburn, but I'm sure a few hours later he was writhing in pain from that burned & peeling skin. The dude in the video would get it worse since the gasoline is on him and continues to evaporate to feed the flames.
no, the spark from the primer is entirely concealed inside the shell. it would not have ignited the gasoline.
however, most smaller guns like that one do not fully burn the entire powder charge before the bullet exits the barrel. so a lot of powder could be expelled out the barrel behind the bullet, still burning, and that definitely could ignite the gasoline.
Well, like he said,it sounded good.
And t.v. makes everything explode
Yeah, any gun with a visible muzzle flash has at least some amount of burning powder hitting the outside air.
Like Raylan says, hard to say whether it would be enough to ignite gas fumes, but it's certainly plausible.
For a magazine fed handgun most of the initial combustion is pretty well contained until the expanding gasses reach the muzzle. But for a revolver, the gap between the cylinder & the barrel is an early opportunity for escape.
But that wasn't the point of Raylan's dissertation. By design the purpose of a handgun is to serve as a deterrent to violence. This would be a non-standard application of that concept ;)
@@f500raptorI was going to say the same thing, if it was a revolver it could have possibly set it off. It was so dark I couldn't see what firearm it was but it made for a decent scene anyway.
by design, the purpose of a handgun is to shoot a bullet into a target. @@f500raptor
One of the best shows I have ever seen.
Liked the duel with other gun fighter when they both shot each other and weren't sure if Raylan was still alive...Good Stuff...
Bring the show back. Do it for the purpose it serves, not simply money.
You’d think they’d wanna do it for both. I’m still trying to figure out what the hell they was thinking with Primeval.

awesome show!
He did some really good movies “HITMAN” “The Crazies” “This Is Where I Leave You” I have to say that movie was hilarious and I think it’s either on prime video or Netflix and it has a really good cast and he was also in one of the “Scream Movies” plus “Gone in 60 Seconds” Timothy Olyphant is such a great actor. I hope to see him back on the big screen again but I do like this show it’s a little different than when the first one came out but this one is OK.
Why the hell ain’t you seen the show? It’s amazing and quite possibly one of the greatest shows to ever grace TV.
probably for the same reason I have not seen the new one or anything else for that matter- becoming disabled i had to disconnect cable a few yrs back or go without eating :-(@@ComedyBros5
take the time and watch it, you won't be disappointed....
The dialogue, man this show and characters.
What a great show, character, and actor.
The gasoline fight in zoolander just came to mind when someone mentioned the youth of americas comprehension of combustibles
Yes, he would have gone up like a torch. The muzzle flash would have lit him up. Given that the apparent temperature was over 60 F, he would have had a huge cloud of gasoline vapor around him. If it had been below 30 F, then not so much. At about -35 it gets harder to get gasoline to burn well. At -100 good luck getting it to burn at all.
I'm so glad they brought Loretta back. She was the best recurring character in the series.
It depends on the mixture of air to vapor if you will ignite the vapor into a flame. Well... are you feeling lucky?
I miss this show. I need to watch it again.
Oh man, I need to rewatch this show.
Someone get the mythbusters back together to test this one out!
They actually tested something very similar. A gas stove running and if firing through a milk carton would prevent the muzzle flash from igniting the gas like in the movie thr myth came from. Turned out, most pistols wouldn't have set it off.
great writing!
I miss Rayland, such a great character. No Disney BS
she just keeps getting snatched
Love the back and forth in the video and in the comments.
Very cool scene, except for the part where his partner is pointing the gun at the bad guy, with Waylon being the back stop
You are bad at spatial recognition.
I noticed that too
@@jeffbosworth8116 No you didn't.
Seemed like she was off angle to me. Especially if she was aiming at the bad guys head.
Raylon
I love how he just ripped the duct tape off of her face!
The draw scenes were interesting, but I would have liked to have seen more standoffs such as this, in which the law manages to avoid the firefight through a bit of ingenuity.
Some gun channel or mythbusters reboot will totally have to see if he indeed would have gone up like a torch.
Given his short-barrel pistol and how that often affects muzzle flash...I wouldn't bet against it.
Actually, I believe Mythbusters did test it, and the gunman did not catch fire. It's not that easy, even with a large muzzle flash. But, that's hardly the point, Raylan didn't care if Jimmy didn't believe him, he just wanted to prevent him from firing and possibly hitting Loretta.
I’m a guy….He, Him, His and all that…..and I ain’t shamed to say it…I love this guy! I hope they continue with Justified….
I wish he'd said "Jimmy Dean, you'll go up like a sausage".
If you're going to bluff, bluff with confidence.
This should be taught to all police.
How to deal with criminals.
I used a Justified line on a bully and I was able to avoid a fight.
Think I’ll watch the series for the 7th time. It’s better than anything else on TV.
I was sold on this show on the first scene season 1 episode 1 👌
I wasn't taught that in school. Thank goodness for Mythbusters😂
She had been behind him the whole time.... 😂
Love this show
The chance is non-zero. There's no guarantee a semiauto pistol would have a naked spark as they're mostly designed to contain all the heat and pressure to push the round. A revolver would probably be more likely, but the important part is: Why take the chance?
Please do another series. Pleeease
they have done another one last season Justified: City Primeval
One of the best scenes from this show.
That was my favorite scene.
He just needed a couple of gallons to fill his ten gallon hat.
Great writing and characters
Hey and I never thought I'd see a scene where he didn't shoot the guy.
The best thing is Timothy son’s refers to Walton Goggins as his fav hobbit.
If the name fits…
The best. Olyphant inherited what James Garner started in The Rockford Files.
100% yes, human torch is exactly what would have happened. 1. It's still burning on the way out 2. The bullets makes a LOT of sparks coming out.
Quite possibly the finest TV show ever made. After the original "Lost in Space", of course.
"do you know how firearms works?"
Proceeds to yank a pistol from his hand in a way that easily can discharge the firearm
Then, there's the old trick of Screaming and Begging ...
I LOVE this series.. watched the entire thing twice and have moved onto the new one… they just need to city version.. they just need to produce them faster😂😂😂
The new one? They made a new one?? Why haven't I heard about this??
@@mikefurlong8025 Yep. Justified: City Primeval. I've yet to see it, but who couldn't do with more Raylan? Fictional criminals aside, ofc.
@@mikefurlong8025 You haven't heard about it because it flopped.
Writing was backwards, Raylan was a bit character in his own show, the whole "for modern audiences" shtick, etc.
Now THAT is how you bring in a criminal. This incident would make him sorta famous once the reporters got word of it. Did they reflect this in the show? Might have even made the national news how he soaked the guy in gasoline then explained to the perp how shooting would set off the fumes.
Multiple news interviews at least.
If the guy was crazy enough, they would both be on fire.
One of the best, bad @$$, most likeable characters on TV.
He is still endanger of becoming a human torch…. If he gets into a vehicle, any static electricity created with shoes across floor carpet has the potential to ignite the fuel vapor and air mixture! 🔥 🔥🔥😬😱
She is a very good actress. I think she works as Abby for The Last of Us S02
