@ True but he does actually state … let me know what you think ? I sent him the recommendation months ago and like I say just ignores it you don’t even get a 👍🏻off him 🤔
Used to love the Metro centre in the 90s I used to go up there every November from London to do my Christmas shopping, but like everything it’s rubbish now.😏
Your donut was definitely the star of the show. I would have skipped the meal, had the wonderful donut and a big cup of coffee! Then I’d have bought a couple of donuts to take home!
Hello my friend, excellent choice with the Korean food looked absolutely delicious!! It was making me hungry, I've never been to the metro centre in a long while but I'd definitely choose here!! Fentimans has a nice range of traditional soft drinks, if you like Turkish delight you may like to try their Rose Lemonade it's refreshing. The meal was quite expensive but this seems to be a sign of the times of late, pleased you had enough of your budget left to enjoy a dessert. The donut looked divine!! Decent amount of other food outlets but I think you made the right choice with the Korean food. Thank you for another of your excellent reviews, take care 💜💜XX
Yes, I totally agree. It makes a change to try something different although I think the Korean dishes would have cost a lot less in Seoul! £20 for a moderate meal seems to be the norm now. Back in 1988, there was a food court and we remember thinking it was pricey back then too. It was also much busier then because the Metrocentre was a novelty although I have fond memories of shopping in the Grainger market when I was a child.
Dessert definitely looked the best part of that deal. Shopping centres always seem to have a choice of really expensive food outlets or Subway/McDonalds.
My friend was there on Saturday and ate at Ask Italian, she said it was very good. To be honest I think your food was very reasonable compared to London prices, the Bao bun alone would've cost about 8 or 9 pounds.
Hi from Long Beach, Calif🙋♀️ on a weekend aboard the Queen Mary for their Dark Harbour Halloween Haunt also their famous weekend brunch. For mall fare, you did pretty well! That looked like my dream donut😂. Thanks for another great vid!
Never heard of Fentimans before? They're based in the northeast so that might be why, but I've found them all around the country. Brilliant food challenge as always. Look forward to your next one!
I have followed the Korean Englishman on YT for some years and on his recommendations I have tried Korean food and moved on to trying to cook one or two things - its really nice
Fentimans...... A long established North East company which I believe to still be a family owned business... They make very exclusive soft drinks which used to always be aimed at the top end of the market.
Gateshead metro has changed a lot since I was there many years ago, when they still had the indoor fair. The food looked very nice quality especially the dumplings and bun with beef. Yes pricy but if it good it’s worth it, did t look very filling though. Bet you were full after the doughnut, it was bigger than you!🤣. Great vlog👍.
Very expensive there. You should try The Melton Constable Seaton Sluice, better food and value for money. The Waterford Arms just across the road also does some amazing fish & chips.
I thought you were going to do a buffet, then you went in there and your title says food challenge confused lol Loved seeing the HMV in the background when you looked at the Ice-Cream/Frozen Yoghurt place 😀 When will you do some videos in Kent????
That was a nice variety of Korean food. Do you have any regions in the UK with a concentration of Korean restaurants? You might do better there price-wise.
I realise you were making a video, so maybe slightly different. If I am in a strange place and want to order food, I take a look when it is busy .. you can spot the good places by how busy they are .. the poor places, or maybe the expensive ones will be empty. In Eldon Square (Newcastle) there are several eateries, but if you have a look on a typical lunchtime, some are full, some half-full and a couple with hardly anybody inside.
Whoa ! Does this mean NewcastleMetro food is more expensive than London' s The Big Hall ! All three items were just starters here , where as you got three dishes in the big hall for same price ! I can see why you got that big donut ; to fill your tummy as the dumplings & wings were very light !
Next time you're in Newcastle you should head to the Stack fanzone at St James Park, some really great local food vendors in there. My son got a Korean corn dog that was really interesting and I had a Brack Burger which honestly wax one of the best burgers I've ever had. Grainger Market is also a good shout both places would definitely be better suited to this kind of video for you. We do enjoy your videos.
HI good video food looks nice never tried Korean food the donut look yummy 😋 that's a sugar rush should be running up the walls dancing in the streets 😂😂
It was nice to watch one of your videos whilst having breakfast instead of dinner. I don't think that food was really worth the money. They're what may be classed as "picky bits" if you were at a party. Always love your food adventures,so keep them coming. Maybe a roast, drink, and dessert for 25 or under? Seems fitting as your videos come out on a Sunday.
What amazes me is what you get in 2024 with a £25 budget....when i visited the UK From Australia 4 times in 2019 prices were such i could do the same for £12.50😮 Now look how bad prices have gone up....the food was 'ok' But really its ridiculous thats all £25 buys in 2024 and limited choices too.....maybe better value north!?
I also think that a challenge would be to find the best value food at a cheap price, not 25 quid, i certainly wouldn't spend that on myself, im always looking for bargains
You handled those chopsticks like a boss ! Not something that you can immediately expect from a guy who [shudder] puts milk in his tea ! I had the feeling that you might have eaten decent food but it was maybe not value-for-money ? You'd think these places inside the malls would be somewhat competitive but I guess they're all paying high rents ?
The metro centre is not the cheapest place to eat. only the £17 buffet is the best option there, everything else is not that cheap or offer good size portion. but this buffet King may offer more different items and a compare between what was on offer. did they offer more. was it better than the Manchester one the 3 food items does not look very much in size but £19.10 is way too much that Buffet for £17 would have been far better. far MORE food for £2.25 I could get a sticky toffee cake in Aldi. far better value... that doughnut is just not worth that much money. the only way it is worth is if it is vs a restaurant pudding
A captive audience will generate higher prices for food generally. Your choice of foods was totally different. Having seen reviews of WIng Stop and Wagamama, I would have checked them out for price and value for money. Then there is the likelihood that were Lunchtime deals around, but well hidden. When it comes to value for money a buffet style eatery will always give you a huge amount of food and choice, but may not be the best quality or be piping hot. As always you make your choice and chance your luck.
I remember visiting the metro centre in the 1990s when it had an indoor theme park. Your food wasn't worth the price. It's way too expensive for the portion size. And even if it tastes good those portions aren't going to sustain me. I'm a big foodie and love eating out. And because I have my own food business I keep a close eye on the latest food trends, prices, and closures/new openings. I'm a lot more picky about where I eat out now as most places are very mediocre but with high prices. I do my research (plus a little bit of intuition) and find the gems without wasting my hard-earned money on the rubbish.
Very enjoyable tour of the eateries in the MetroCentre of Newcastle. You made an interesting choice of restaurant with the Korean place and I applaud your food selections. Everything looked tasty. It might have been nice, however, to explore some of their other menu offerings to see what I would have liked. Nevertheless, it was another great video. Thanks for the experience.
The metro is shit now it’s went downhill since metro land was taken out. For 25 quid I’d get 3 hamburgers and large fries and a large coke from Burger King that’s about 8 quid. 2 corned beef Pasties about 4 quid. A bottle of coke, some chicken slices and crusty bread from m&s about 6 quid. Then a terrys chocolate orange bombe, some monster munch crisps and some malt easers from Poundland sorted for the day
they couldnt adjust it to be modern so they ripped it out capital shopping centres (werent) trying to impress visitors, they were trying to impress shareholders
The only thing Korean about the food you ate is in name only. It's hardly authentic. Looks more Chinese to me. You don't get lamb dumplings in Korea and Bao buns and Bang Bang Chicken are Chinese. I don't have anything against Chinese food but I don't like the masquerade.
Im sorry but thats a ridiculous price to pay for what you had, didn't even look nice to be honest. You should have had the buffet. Scandalous i say for the amounts!
Sorry but this was really dismal stuff, honestly kinda depressing to watch. Maybe try branching out from city centres and shopping malls - you're never going to find interesting independent eateries there.
Should i have tried a different restaurant?
If so which one? 😀
big luckes buffet so good
I need to go back and try it
Looks like a perfect choice.
Try one in Newcastle next time 😊
Says it hasn’t got a food court then proceeds to walk through a food court
I hate to be pedantic, but the MetroCentre is in Gateshead, not Newcastle.
Dunston, pedantically
Who cares?
To anyone living outside of Newcastle noone cares
@@Taylor40667 I care - I expect geographical accuracy in these comments.
You stated who would care in your comment saying Who cares so you knew who would care.
Or is it Swalwell?@@bhht1
Next time you head Newcastle area try the Grainger Market mate. Loads of quirky food places. Much more what youre looking for.
I second that, perhaps the next 'series' could be eating at markets.
Already told him this obviously just ignores people’s comments
Love the Chinese dumpling stall in there
@@stevenh8815 or maybe he just has a long list of things he wants to do :D
@ True but he does actually state … let me know what you think ? I sent him the recommendation months ago and like I say just ignores it you don’t even get a 👍🏻off him 🤔
Ya need to go back to newcastle and into the indoor grainger market ..
Used to love the Metro centre in the 90s I used to go up there every November from London to do my Christmas shopping, but like everything it’s rubbish now.😏
I think these places have had their day and are going the same way as the High Street and local markets thanks to online shopping.
the red mall and yellow mall are the best bits, blue and green looking a little tired
If in the area, the Newcastle quayside has a market on every Sunday. Lots of nice independent food trucks.
Thanks for the tip!
Shame you have removed the bit where you try to get through the barrier at the station 😂 Seriously, another great vlog my friend 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Defo. Always chuckle when your denied entry 😂
Is he going to get through,or will it be "access denied".
Nice video. Lovely food. The Korean food looked delicious, and that donut, Wow!!
The donut was massive!
One can always see a few massive donuts eating in these dreadful chain fast food outlets .
You should try the Grainger Market in Newcastle
Your donut was definitely the star of the show. I would have skipped the meal, had the wonderful donut and a big cup of coffee!
Then I’d have bought a couple of donuts to take home!
Coffee with the donut would have been perfect
Hello 👋 EIE
Fantastic review as always. Your meal did look delicious. You can't get much for £20 these days. Doughnut looked yummy. Awesome content.
That mall is huge. Most malls in the US are closed down.

You should have popped into Greggs and took a couple of Stottie Cakes back with you and some Pease Pudding of course.

Fentimans ginger beer was recommended to me by a dietician when I was diagnosed with gallstones.
I always have a couple of bottles around.
I have followed the Korean Englishman on YT for some years and on his recommendations I have tried Korean food and moved on to trying to cook one or two things - its really nice
Go to Stack in Newcastle
Please try Merry hill shopping centre food court.
Good selection . I love all that food.
Try Kato in Newcastle city centre. Best chicken katsu curry in the north east. £6 too
Remember the food court it used to have near the cinema
First-time qr code ordering was at arcade in batter sea power station, plenty of options, but not cheap.
Metrocentre is amazing, love this place
Wow. That looks delicious 😋
It was!
It’s in Gateshead
Gateshead Newcastle. Basically both the same. We're all Geordies
Fentimans...... A long established North East company which I believe to still be a family owned business... They make very exclusive soft drinks which used to always be aimed at the top end of the market.

Try carrying a fold up fork with you. O.K. for the doughnut & also handy instead of wooden forks for Fish & Chips.
Saves sticky fingers .
Doughnut looked good chap 👌😋😋😂👍
It was lol
Please will you try some food places in Lancaster in Lancashire
You’re from Leeds and never heard of Batch’d? Isn’t that their base? Pretty sure Trinity Centre has the flagship store.
It used to have a pleasure park and a foid court but like most shopping centres it is in decline
Another good vlog . I would have gone for the buffet downstairs. Would have got more for your £25 😁
I'll have to give the buffet a try some time!
Looks like a food court to me.
Maybe you could go in to London and see what £25 will buy you at Borough Market
That would be a good challenge. Maybe just as expensive?
That was a nice variety of Korean food. Do you have any regions in the UK with a concentration of Korean restaurants? You might do better there price-wise.
How did you get there, teleport? Like watching the transport part of your adventure.
If you're trying any more there the Turkish next to the car park entrance is really good.
Maybe next time
I feel like £25 is quite a high bar for a meal for one, not really a challenge lol
I agree with that
I love Korean food. Maybe you could try more places?
Shopping centre is in trouble when you can count the amount of customers as you record easily
i think he went there quite early in the day
Doughnut envy!

such a rip off
