I wouldn't worry about sticking to a percentage. You buy what you can buy. Fractional gold has absurdly high premiums. so it is really tough for some folks to buy gold. We have been hammered by medical bills this year. I have not bought any gold so far in 2024. Silver is all I can afford. But, I am glad I can at least afford to buy something. Every payday I head for the coin shop to pick up $20-25 of 90% silver coins

Even us veteran stackers have the same issues. Thankfully a fair amount of my silver that I bought 2013-2016 ended up being quite collectible and I made some good gains that I turned into gold. I thought I was crazy buying a two coin Mexican set for $200, but I few years down the line I got $450 for it. The 1/4oz gold I bought with it technically cost me $200.
I stack both back and forth but I don’t think you have a problem because I believe in the near future the silver to gold ratio drop to like 70/1 or a lot lower then now , I have a special stack just to trade in one day when the ratio levels out better then it is now ❤
I previously adjusted my purchases based on the GSR. I’ve realized that if you stick to a ratio you like, for your example 80/20, just dollar cost average that ratio and you will buy according to the changes in GSR automatically. If 20% of you purchase is silver then when the GSR changes, your purchase will change based on the GSR. Trying to figure out what to buy based on the ratio and thinking of the ratio is weight will have you doing unnecessary math.
My lcs lets me trade the gold to silver ratio straight up. I just traded 1 oz. Of gold for 85 ozs. Of silver. If the ratio improves to like 1 to 70, I will take 70 ozs. Of silver and trade it for 1 oz. Of gold with a 15 oz. profit of silver. It is not a question of if it will happen, but when. A stacker must be patient.
💯 I'm in the same boat at this point and time. New to stacking approximately 6 mo. Ago. A lot of fear munger seems to happen with some channels that i noticed who are sponsored. I dig finding channels as yours so i can get a better perspective on how this should go instead of buy now to the moon ! Scenario's. Thx. What are your thoughts on platinum buying at this point And time ??
