I'm really glad we get an update on Albrecht von Closen, and seeing how Jonah is getting more twisted in his pursuit of knowledge! All those eyes...yikes. We don't get many statements regarding The Beholding, so it's cool to have Jon read the fear and chaos his patron, and now he, bring to the world.
The pursuit of knowledge seems to lead to very Lovecraftian ends, doesn't it? I'd argue that the fear and chaos weren't brought but already there, hiding. But looking too much makes you one of them. I think this is the first statement that mentions that Jonah Magnus was directly connected to the panopticon prison. It is..disconcerting.
Basira: Can we cut the bullshit? Elias: What “bullshit” might that be? Basira: The part where you pretend you don’t spend your whole time watching us. Elias: Sometimes I'm eating. sdkljfskdjf this was really funny to me XDD
Reverse eye. New entity: The Mouth ~ Blabbering ~ Ceaseless Talker Fears assosciated: not knowing how to leave an awkward situation, not knowing how to draw boundaries, feeling forced to listen to someone oversharing
They really didn't convey enough horror. Jon and Gertrude were freaked at the idea of an Archivist becoming a humanoid eyeball. The autopsy says this guy had working, seeing eyeballs growing all over his insides.
The title for this one is the punch line to one of my favorite (terrible) jokes so naturally I've been wheezing with laughter since the autopsy description popped up. Thank you for my favorite joke in the entire series! 😂
Alright I'm 30 secondes in but I find it both funny and NOT funny that at least for the first sentences of the statement, John is talking like Elias to me. (Rythmic, voice a little more medium in tone, intonations...) Don't know if it's real, I mean it's surely only the reading, but. Well. There you go.
I've heard that Ben Meredith, Elias' voice actor, sort of derived his character's voice from S1 Jon's, and they seemed quite similar to me too, at times it was hard to tell them apart. Not anymore but they are definitely similar.
Something I noticed on my second listen. Jon calls Dr. Jonathan Fanshaw his namesake. Not that they share a name but his _namesake;_ someone he's named _after._ Jon was surprised and shocked, not that a long dead statement giver and he share a common name, but that he knows (is related to?) Dr. Fanshaw, who was once associated with Jonah Magnus. Could Jonathan Fanshaw be Jon's ancestor? His great grandfather? The descendants of Albrecht von Closen ended up in England and working for the institute so it isn't unreasonable to think another of the decendents of an acquaintance of Jonah Magnus would also end up working for his institute.
they mentioned on earlier seasons that he listens to every tape but like, regular, normal human putting on a tape and listening to the statement. don't know if that remains true now that he's not one
He says it is like there's a door in his mind and that there's an ocean behind it.... I've been reading and listening to info about Control and what it is based on. Jon has a link to The Oldest House which is leaking bits from the Astral Plane. Or at least that's what I'm deciding.
For a temple of knowledge, it's surprising how ignorant everyone are when compared to the servants of the other monsters. Martin doesn't even know Lukas is an avatar, does he? Also, Jon is the boss. He should lead his assistants, not leave them to their own devices and ignorance. How isn't Jon trying to get Elias out of jail when the Lonely has taken over the institute?
Wow... People are being poached from all sides, aren't they... The eye, web, lonely, hunt, slaughter... The eye again... Everyone seems to want an Archival assistant for themselves!
I don't know what happened but the previous 126 episodes were fine but on this one UA-cam decided to pop an ad every 3 minutes. It's not your guys fault but it's infuriating.
good questions, good questions, fellow current-listener! Maybe they're Leitners but Jonah learning about them inspired him to find more accounts of people suffering at the hands of such powers and that's why he started the Institute? Because the Archives aren't really interested in anything that doesn't link to (usually) the other entities...

It is..disconcerting.
the door metaphor is honestly one of my favourite things in this whole series
"...record them into submission" xD
“Episode 127 remains to be seen” well fuck i hope they find it soon /j
..And when the remains were seen, they looked BACK

Basira: Can we cut the bullshit?
Elias: What “bullshit” might that be?
Basira: The part where you pretend you don’t spend your whole time watching us.
Elias: Sometimes I'm eating.
sdkljfskdjf this was really funny to me XDD
Finally another episode!! I can’t believe I finally caught up with the UA-cam episodes. I marathoned this whole thing in like a week it’s that good!
Me too. It's not like I have anything better to do
"what happens if you open the door?"
"I drown."
Oh man I was away from my phone and putting a cup down and audibly said "OOF"
YESSSS!!! My favorite garbage man is back. Fuck yeah
The old man had the power of oversharing and forcing others to listen.
Reverse eye. New entity: The Mouth ~ Blabbering ~ Ceaseless Talker
Fears assosciated: not knowing how to leave an awkward situation, not knowing how to draw boundaries, feeling forced to listen to someone oversharing
Yes, Basira, absolutely take Elias's word at face value over Jon's (?!?!?!?!?!??!)
“Sometimes I’m eating”
So when Albrecht had the books rebound, Jonathan had them swapped out for blanks and Albrecht never noticed because he doesn't open them.
Yup, pretty much.
So Jonah indirectly killed the Archivist..?
@@Badficwriter
Pretty sure.
It would have been on purpose too.
Love that the title of this episode is a pun
I was expecting the text of the books to be on his body...then the word 'pupils' happened and now I'm just confused.
They really didn't convey enough horror. Jon and Gertrude were freaked at the idea of an Archivist becoming a humanoid eyeball. The autopsy says this guy had working, seeing eyeballs growing all over his insides.
"Yeah, police? I have a stalker"
"OH MY- Have you seen them?"
"Yes. He is in your prison cell"
".... What?"
This show causes a really, really weird kind of fear
It's weird but I got like 10 commercials during this one show and that has never happened before. Spooky
The title for this one is the punch line to one of my favorite (terrible) jokes so naturally I've been wheezing with laughter since the autopsy description popped up. Thank you for my favorite joke in the entire series! 😂
poor Martin, I love him sm :(
Martin :(
Man, I miss Tim and his lil jokes
stop that
me too
Alright I'm 30 secondes in but I find it both funny and NOT funny that at least for the first sentences of the statement, John is talking like Elias to me. (Rythmic, voice a little more medium in tone, intonations...) Don't know if it's real, I mean it's surely only the reading, but. Well. There you go.
oh that's what it is. yeah, he's certainly been speaking differently, I just hadn't spotted what it was
I've heard that Ben Meredith, Elias' voice actor, sort of derived his character's voice from S1 Jon's, and they seemed quite similar to me too, at times it was hard to tell them apart. Not anymore but they are definitely similar.
Hmm... interesting detail! I hadn’t noticed that before! 😃
Why is nobody talking about the fact Jon was apparently named after this guy?!
In this case namesake just refers to coincidence
"the part where you pretend like you don't spend your whole time watching us"
"Sometimes I'm eating!😤"

My ass was just sat here trying guess which fucking entity this is
So it's *Jon* who listens to the tapes?
Pretty sure it's the Eye, aka the Beholding, aka the viewer
i think its the eye, and the people that have the powers of the eye just kinda. can do it too.
they mentioned on earlier seasons that he listens to every tape but like, regular, normal human putting on a tape and listening to the statement. don't know if that remains true now that he's not one
Jon gets the tapes somehow but I'm pretty sure the recorders are somehow from the web
We're listening to the tapes, duh.
Ouch, Jon accidentally using his powers on Basically for a statememt of sorts without either noticing hurts
I think that "Detective" sounds like the name of a Mantle
8:09 at first i thought he is chanting some cthulhu spell XD
but no i forgot that americans/British people do not know ü ^^
Bro my hate for Peter Lukas is GROWING.
He's second place below Elias Bouchard.
Oh, so they lightner books are the original archive? like way back they made horrid cursed books instead of recordings?
i feel like they're way older than the archives? the statements don't seem nearly as cursed as the books
No, the books are actual aspects of the fears. The statements are ... i guess its like food for the eye?
I have the honour to be your obedient servanttt - A.Burr- wait wrong fandom
Elias is really just chilling in jail, isn't he?
Also, Basira is the best detective, I love her.
A body full of eyes hmmm...reminds me of that season 1 episode with the house on first floor full of meat
He says it is like there's a door in his mind and that there's an ocean behind it....
I've been reading and listening to info about Control and what it is based on.
Jon has a link to The Oldest House which is leaking bits from the Astral Plane. Or at least that's what I'm deciding.
I had five commercials on this episode wth
For a temple of knowledge, it's surprising how ignorant everyone are when compared to the servants of the other monsters. Martin doesn't even know Lukas is an avatar, does he? Also, Jon is the boss. He should lead his assistants, not leave them to their own devices and ignorance. How isn't Jon trying to get Elias out of jail when the Lonely has taken over the institute?
Wow... People are being poached from all sides, aren't they...
The eye, web, lonely, hunt, slaughter... The eye again... Everyone seems to want an Archival assistant for themselves!
Elias Bitchard is back :DD
ELIAS IS BACK!!! Oh i've missed the slinky bastard.
SOILER UNDER CUT
people are stilll talking about Elias and Jonah as seperate people and I just-
...sometimes I’m eating
Ok, is NOBODY going to talk about that dude being full of eyes?
ikr like that's CREEPY
How did me and Jon feel the exact same about Jonah Magnus at first; do I kin that hard?
Ppl who give dislikes to TMA episodes deserve to be Buried
"Sometimes I'm eating." 😂😂😂
I don't know what happened but the previous 126 episodes were fine but on this one UA-cam decided to pop an ad every 3 minutes. It's not your guys fault but it's infuriating.
So... were the Black Forest Books just an old Archive, or a collection of Leitners before they were called "Leitners?"
good questions, good questions, fellow current-listener! Maybe they're Leitners but Jonah learning about them inspired him to find more accounts of people suffering at the hands of such powers and that's why he started the Institute? Because the Archives aren't really interested in anything that doesn't link to (usually) the other entities...
@@-S.L. oh buddy... this was my second time through. Brace yourself for what's left. Gets crazy.
@@pyrosianheir AHHH okay I'm a little scared, god I can't believe there's only the rest of S4 and then S5 before the end.
