What branding iron did you get? I was given one as a gift for Christmas but it’s not electric: it’s just a brass stamp on the end of a metal rod with a wood handle. I guess I’m supposed to heat it over a fire? Seems dangerous…
I also have a non electric iron. I had it made by a local company near me called Buckeye Engraving. It’s been a lot of trial and error to be honest. I tested it many times and figured out the time and temp it needs to be heated to by wood species. It’s been kind of a process. I use a propane torch to heat it up and yes I feel it is a bit dangerous with an open flame near so much saw dust in my shop 😅 I hope to use a laser engraver in the future and retire the branding iron.
