In my town we have a "Kids Clothes Closet". We donate stuff to it and get stuff. We didn't buy any baby clothes and have plenty of clothes for our son's first 18 months of life all free through the program. When we're done with them, they'll be donated back for another family to use.

I shave my legs out of the shower with body lotion and rinse it off from a jug of water. It’s so much nicer and saves water and electricity. I also keep a 5litre bucket in the shower. You’d be amazed at how quickly it fills up even with a very short shower. I then use that hot water to hand wash clothes or clean out the shower. Regards from South Africa

Going shopping to relax or for entertainment is a way to guarantee you will overspend on things you don't need, so that is one of the first habits people need to break. I have one other suggestion, which isn't something I came up with myself was was told by someone else -- he said he never reads "sale" flyers for stores except for groceries because he found he was often tempted by "good prices" on things he didn't actually need, and when he didin't have the temptation he didn't spend that money. I now follow his advice, and it has been helpful.

Well, i agree that short showers save water and energy, but you relax and kinda meditate while spending this time.
So, this time doesn't get waisted, in my opinion. One really needs these breaks.

one thing I do re subscriptions that I would add: themoment I do a subscription of any kind, I go straight to my calendar and put in a reminder 3 days BEFORE, with the date I subscribed i in the notes below, about its renewal pmt date. That way, if I am in the middle of something when the notice comes up, I have a day or two (with a reminder each day ) if I'm not sure, to check, as you suggest--or I close it then, i I know that it'S a no. When I started that, it saved me from many an "oops!" ; )

I don't really understand retail therapy. Spending money mindlessly gives me anxiety, and my house is already full. However, finding a good deal. 👍🏻 That's fun to me. 😊 I rarely pay full price. I will keep an eye on the things I need until I find that sweet deal.

The minimalism part spoke the me. When I first got into budgeting, I sold SO MUCH JUNK that I had bought, used (or didnt use at all!) And stuffed away. I sold a lot, but it was a great motivator to buy less.

It's not to live with less, or make do with less --it's to fully regain your energy and life and, above all, re-own your Choice. So I see it as freeing up time or money to put into a new idea or creation or, in the case of rest, need and time to dream ; ) Energy is never gone, it's all about What we do with it, that's the real question I see ; ) Hats off for the channel, I am sure that you are helping many many peple to live more freely!

An important thing I've learned to check your receipts before leaving the store. I've found errors on Trader Joe's and even Starbucks, which is an occasionally indulgence. With the Starbucks app. It tracks every purchase. I happen to check and noticed I was charged for an item I never purchased. I went back and I was given $8

Wow, this video is filled with incredibly valuable tips! 😲💎 I appreciate how you go beyond the surface level and dive deep into practical ways to make a larger impact on our finances. 💸💡 Removing shopping apps from our phones is such a game-changer. 📲🚫 It's amazing how easily accessible they are and how they can lead to impulsive purchases. And paying off debt strategically by focusing on one at a time makes so much sense. 🎯💰 The momentum it creates is truly motivating. I also love the idea of tracking expenses and being mindful of subscriptions. 📊💭 It's shocking how those small amounts can add up and go unnoticed. Thank you for sharing these insightful tips that can truly transform our financial well-being. This video deserves all the likes and shares it can get! 👍🔥💰

I am currently wrapping up batch cooking for the week ahead. It is time consuming and takes alot of my weekend to do but the money savings are tremendous for our budget. We work 16.5 hours a day, four days a week and are currently paying down our vehicle...next will be the roof (which was no payment, no interest for a year and yes we will pay it off before that year expires) and we are currently about to reside our house, replace windows and install gutters ($70,000, which us not interest free but needs to be bought and paid for before we retire in 3 years). We are always looking to find new ways to save money and reduce spending. Sinking funds are great to save for smaller purchases or insurance payments. Thanks for all the tips. 😊

Since u mentioned taking shorter showers, I wanted to say that turning off the water when you're not using it in the shower, while washing hands or doing dishes etc, can help save a lot of water as well. Also 1 single drop of dawn dish soap without even squeezing the bottle will lather up and wash a load of dishes

My dad was in the baby, so he taught my brothers and I how to quickly shower so everyone had a hot shower. Step in, get wet, turn off the water. Soap up head to toe. Turn on the water and rinse. For Mom and I, shave our legs and rinse. Steak out. No water wasted. Dad and my brothers were out in 5 minutes. Mom and I were out in 8.

I do that with my Amazon account. I shop, fill my cart then put everything in save for later. I’ve had 3 items in save for later for almost 2 years. When I’m ready to use them, I will purchase them but not until then. I do this all the time with Amazon. I have no subscriptions at all: no magazines, no extra TV like Peacock or Netflix. When I reduce my cable bill, I’ll think about those but not until then. I prefer, now that my children have grown and moved out and my husband passed away, to only use pictures. I’ve reduced my decorations to 1 or 2 plastic boxes. Purchase nothing, use what I want and give the rest away. I’m loving this.

I loved the tips... some I already use and some I had not thought about but I also like the mention of books and concepts such as minimalism which i have been embracing... at least to the extent that I am decluttering my life which is leading to less stress and less baggage in my life. To Consume less social networks (I removed my instagram few month ago which helped me to spend less on clothes because of influencers and nice pictures of outfit). But I still have this little voice that tells me that I should get this new boots 😂 but honestly I feel less anxiety and I can focus more on simple things such as reading, enjoying a ride in the nature. Walking being grateful . Appreciate the things I have and focus on the person I want to be in the future and God I feel much better ! Now I’m trying to work on the current mindset I have by analysing my purchasing behaviour and understanding the difference between needs and wants etc …. I’ve started my financial journey in 2021 and I can see my little achievements.., I hope I can do much better this year (but no pressure of course)

Yah. Online it can be annoying Bcuz I’m usually needing one item or two (usually a hard to find item you can’t find so easily in regular stores) and you have to get more stuff if you want the free shipping. I just gave it a lot of thought and poked around other things I’d need (already on my list) and found some useful things that will save me money in the long run. I guess I’m doing pretty good tho as I was really at a loss about finding other things I “need.” Just sat there like I just can’t think of a thing I would need online. Lol. I guess my contentment level is at a pretty good place by now. Lol.
Ha ha. Or bathe less often. Or like with anything else, some showers can be a C or B+. I don’t have to do it all A+ every time. 😅😅

Question, do I forgo a European tour and use the budget to accelerate payment of our $60K mortgage/loan. We are close to retirement and been working hard and haven't really set aside time to enjoy life. I have heard of delayed gratification which I believe we've been practicing. I hope you don’t mind I share a few things that have worked for me. I had lost my job in a deep double recession and I desperately wanted to be home with my 11 mo old son. The largest food savings by far, a 50% cut, was meal planning. Initially it takes time but the savings are worth it.
      1. Ask family members their favorite meals. You probably already do some like spaghetti w/meat sauce, pizza, sausage w/ potatoes and veggies, upside down breakfast, chicken w/ rice and green beans or carrots, baked potatoes w/toppings, chili, macaroni and cheese. That’s 7 try to add 7 more. You are looking for inexpensive (cheap meals) to make meals. You can include a few middle cost meals once you get additional savings.
      2. Write down all the ingredients for each recipe, this plus your budget.
      3. Start a price book. Write down the lowest prices you can get with sales/coupons/rebates. Believe it or not I can feed 2 adults/2 children for $2.50-$4 per dinner not per person. One have a recipe, write the out the cost (approximately as inflation makes that harder). Notice there are sales cycles for foods so you can take advantage of the lowest prices.
      4. Download the Flipp app onto your phone. This give you the store ads in your area in one place. The search bar will even compare prices in your area to other sale prices.
      5. Now you fine tune the buying process. You buy weekly while trying to build a lowest cost pantry/fridge/freezer 3 month pantry. Why the 3 mos, 6 would be even better actually but this allows you to eat at the lowest possible price. Example: you buy 1lb of white rice a week. Walmart 1lb of rice is $0.92lb, but 20lbs is $0.55lb. You’ve cut your rice budget by 36%. Eggs at Walmart are $1.55dz or local grocery chain is $2.50dz but this week 2dz are $2. Walmart shredded cheese 8oz is &4.44lb vs 32oz for $3.74lb or your local grocery store is a loss leader a $3.00lb. Stock up on cheese from the other grocery store. Since this is the lowest price you can find you get a 3 mo supply. Chicken thighs are normally $1.59 a lb at Walmart but the local grocery is offering 10lb bags at $0.59lb, stock up with what they will allow, I even brought my son and husband once to buy the maximum allowed which was 3 bags person. Then I stopped by one more time that week to buy another 3 bags. This will last 3 mos.
      6. HT offers $10/$75 purchase. I check a competitor’s coupon policy and found they will accept another stores $/$$ coupons. I took a picture and keep it on my phone. If questioned I show it to the clerk if there is still a problem I say, “I don’t want you to get in trouble for accepting another stores coupons please call a store manager.” I apply coupons from the loyalty app, store deals, sales and coupons for a easy low price. Then the clerk can say “she wanted you so I wouldn’t do something wrong and get in trouble.”
      7. Use the rebate sites like Fetch, Ibotta, Receipt Hog, Shopkick, Alexa, CO51, Swagbucks, My points, inbox, Tada Walmart Cash, Aisleand Shopmium. It’s a long list. Take one every two weeks and learn the ins and outs to maximize your points earned. Most reward in gift cards, but some do cash. To learn the basics use UA-camr videos for beginners. Then follow people who specialize in get the most out of the apps. One UA-camr, Saving with Sha, is my rebate couponer hero. No only is mostly everything she gets free, many times she makes money on the deals. So she get $310 in products free but makes $36. She sells her stockpiles mostly on Facebook marketplace, but also donates to food banks, homeless shelters and pet shelters. At one time I did that and felt so rich contributing hundreds of dollars of items to others in need. She shops Walmart mostly but also also CVS and RiteAid.
Two books that changed my life and way of thinking are Your Money or Your Live by Vicki Robins and The Complete Tightwad Gazette by Amy Dacyczyn. The Tightwad Gazette are a series of compiled articles from her newsletters. She taught many to the same things as Dave Ramsey about a decade before him. There are something not covered by Dave that can be important so it is worth the read.
There are so many more tips that Jennifer covers in her videos. But I’m happy to share more or answer questions.

Savannah, thank you for taking the time to watch the video! Not every tip will be for everyone. I try to cover a broad range of ideas that many can hear and maybe take 1, 2, or 3 that would work for their lifestyle. We are all different, and that is what is beautiful and unique. Hopefully, something else in the video was helpful 😊

When you pay any % in dollars it comes from a bigger piece of the pile, why? Because it is all done in after tax money accept a regular IRA which is after social security. it’s easier to understand if you see it in a pie chart. The only exemption from Social Security and income tax is have a sole proprietorship and paying your under age child a salary and even that is a limit of $12,950. Your child does not pay SS or income tax below the $12,950 figure. I would say it’s the best time to contribute to a ROTH IRA but I believe the tax exemption of withdrawals will be taken away, at a minimum all income except original contributions will be taxable within a decade, taking away the last large benefit of the ROTH. They already removed one large benefit which was freedom of distribution of funds at death if left to a family member which could be left to grow tax free for another possible 90 yrs.
A problem with rental properties is that people don’t have enough put aside for major repairs/maintenance initially. This can totally ruin being in rental real estate, especially in a market that’s extremely competitive. It common when buying a new to you home that an entire system fails or needs a major replacement. I seen to many people get a home inspection that was a worthless as the paper or email sent to you. You are stuck replacing a roof or plumbing or electrical system. Things not covered by a home warranty. Or appliances fail a week after the warranty expires. Add then there is the renter from hell and C-19 and you are paying to own the home for many years. This does not happen to everyone but enough a person should be extremely focused.

You are wonderful. I don't think you will burn in 'hell' if you say the word. Fortunately, I don't believe in any kind of personal god-not Yahweh, Jesus, Zeus, Wotan, Allah or Santa Claus; they are all the same; even Santa will bring you coal if you are bad and he knows everything you do and say. I only say this because this has FREED me (after a scary year of feeling like I didn't have any 'magic' anymore, which is prayer, and invisible friends). Thanks for this. And again, it is so nice to see a lovely person who cares about appearance doing this instead of someone who looks as if they just crawled out from under a rock.
