Thanks for bringing up Darryl Reanney and his pioneering work! Music of the Mind is indeed a visionary piece, and Reanney was ahead of his time in exploring the intersection of consciousness, quantum theory, and the nature of life and death. His ideas paved the way for much of the research we see today, including what we’re exploring with Dr. Christopher Germann’s work on DMT and quantum consciousness. While Reanney's contributions were groundbreaking in the '90s, what’s exciting now is that with the help of new technologies like brain imaging and more scientific studies on substances like DMT, we’re able to test and expand on these theories in ways that were once purely speculative. We are all standing on the shoulders of giants like Reanney, and it’s great to see how far the conversation about consciousness has come. Would love to hear your thoughts on how these ideas might overlap or complement one another!
I have very few scientific thoughts and ideas! My talents lie elsewhere. However, I did have a moment of 'high strangeness'in 1994 in which the material world simply dissolved and I became aware that reality is far from our day to day perception of it. Reanney's book was very helpful to me in thinking through what that might mean - as well as a wonderful read. I'm just pleased that he is recognised. I look forward to developments in this field, and thanks for responding to my somewhat cheeky post.
To answer the question, "Who is the chooser? (eternal loop)", we can approach this from the perspective of quantum cognition and consciousness theory. In the context of quantum mechanics and consciousness, as discussed in previous talks, the "chooser" is the observer-essentially, you, as a conscious being. Just like in quantum theory where a particle exists in multiple potential states until observed, it is the conscious mind that selects one possible state of reality from the range of possibilities. The act of observation or attention collapses all potential outcomes into one concrete experience, or reality. Now, in relation to the idea of an eternal loop, this suggests a philosophical perspective where the "chooser" is constantly involved in an ongoing process of selection. Consciousness could be viewed as continually interacting with the quantum field, where it perpetually chooses and re-chooses potential realities. Each thought, emotion, and decision is an act of observation, and thus an act of choosing, within this quantum space. In terms of who the chooser is, it's the conscious mind, or individual awareness, within a larger quantum system. While it feels like a choice made from "you" (the self), quantum cognition suggests this choosing process is entangled with the broader interconnectedness of consciousness and reality. To add depth: you might imagine this as an eternal dance between consciousness and potentiality, where each observation or focus brings one possibility into reality, and yet new possibilities always exist, creating an ongoing loop of choice and experience. Let me know if you'd like to explore this concept further!
I get the humor! 😉 While AI helps with things like video production and editing, the heart of this talk is built on the groundbreaking research of Dr. Christopher Germann, a cognitive neuroscientist. His work dives deep into how DMT affects the brain and consciousness on a quantum level, exploring ideas like ego dissolution and how consciousness could be tied to quantum processes. So while the tech helps bring it to life, the science itself offers some pretty incredible insights that we can all learn and grow from! If you have expertise in content creation, we'd love to hear from you on how we can improve from your perspective, and possibly even collaborate if this is your line of work. We're sincerely passionate about this material and hope that by playing our part in spreading the information, we can help make the world a better, happier, and more loving place. 😊
Darryl Reanney was decades ahead of all of you. Music of the Mind, published 1995.
