Hi Jackie, with established pasture it is however long it takes for the grass to grow back to approximately 5 inches. Depending on weather conditions and time of year this can take a couple of weeks or even months. With a newly seeded paddock, you should hold the horses until you can get hold of the plants, pull and twist and the leaves break off rather than come out by the roots.
