- NDSU Virtual Cell Animations Project animation 'Insulin Signaling'. For more information please see vcell.ndsu.edu/animations.
When high levels of glucose enter the blood stream, insulin is released by beta cells in the pancreas. Insulin then initiates a number of signal pathways in specific muscle and fat cells. This takes a look at the signal pathway responsible for allowing those cells to rapidly increase their ability to uptake glucose from the blood stream.
This helped a lot - thank you! I'm a visual learner, and seeing everything laid out in a way I can see and in chronological order really does help.
Thanks ND State. Some of the very best on YT.
that was really wonderful an exellent explication with amazing illustration.......... thank you so much
Very nice illustration.
transporter for glucose in muscle and adipose tissue is GLUT4, but for brain is GLUT3. There are 12 glucose transporters encoded in the human genome.
This is really amazing.
Beautiful!
This is amazing thank you so much
that was beautiful
this is really resourceful. thanks.
Thank you
they do it for that warm, fuzzy feeling inside
amazing
Just trying to warp my head around this. So for that final step, after PIP2 is phosphorylated, it phosphorylates another protein.
Is that Akt, which goes on to prevent the RAB interacting with the vesicles.?
My goodness...how/why do you guys do this for free? You all have saved me from countless Fs!
Same thought as jrg305. Are my brian cells fully or partly dependant on glut4? I think liver and brain cells have other mechanisms that are at least primarily responsible for uptake of insulin. If I'm correct then this video is in error @ 2:15-16.
wicked cool
The video seems to show, in fat cells, three glucoses being converted to glycerol to provide the backbone of a single triacyglycerol molecule. Actually glycerol is formed from 1/2 of a glucose, a 3-carbon chunk.
Really very nice!:)
I like when the vesicles fuse with the membrane :)
very nice!
Did anybody else go, "aww" at the end when all the glucose came in?
I don't know why I did.
as bodoification said, the brain does not use GLUT4 (insulin dependent) receptors. It instead uses GLUT3 and GLUT1 (blood brain border). Therefore no insulin is required for glucose uptake into the brain or RBCs. GLUT 4 are only used in adipose (fat tissue), cardiac and striated muscle. very nice
is this a phosphonoisotide signalling pathway?
awesome
they made it more complicated!dang!!!
can do a vdo of cell signalling?
Sel alfa mensistesa, menyimpan, mensekresikan hormon glukagon (peptida) ketika kadar gula darah turun, glukagon menstimulasi hepar utk mengubah glikogen menjadi glukosa (glikogenolisis) yang akan meningkatkan kadar gula darah.
I thought the brain wasn't dependent on Glut4 transporters...it's one of those tissues that requires glucose and insulin resistance there would mean death or increased use of ketones. Someone enlighten me on my perceived discrepancy.
I commented in Indonesian because my Indonesian to English translation is not as good as my English into Indonesian.
Yo dis shit fire 🔥
Hello! Have you thought about the Hamilton Diabetes Reversal Protocol? (search on google) I have heard some super things about the results in lowering Blood sugars and my brother in law got excellent resultsafter trying it.
Hej hej Lasse bo
You know, it will be hard for you to get credibility if you keep writing things like ''coz''...
Shame on you, its ATP not energy. Do better 🙄🙄🙄
Yet here you are writing “its” when it’s supposed to be it’s. YOU do better 🙄🙄🙄
