I visited the Metro Fleet of the Future Expo in Washington, DC, with @colethomsen and was also able to catch a ride on the limited edition cherry blossom train!
5:40 “it’s aluminum instead of metal” aluminum is metal lol. The 7000 series is made of steel There’s usually enough standing room but moving within the car is near impossible when the car is crowded. The seating layout and open gangways should help with that
I feel similarly! I'm wondering if they're gonna be used mostly during weekday rush hour times for extra capacity, similar to how on weekends now we see mostly 7000s.
@@29downtheline yeah, I’m curious if the signaling system could allow or be overridden to allow 3 2 car sets on the platform maybe a 2 a 6 and half a 7

@airbus7373 Haha, I didn’t notice that bit about the aluminum until now!
Was not sold on the seating arrangement when I first saw them, but I'm slowly warming up to them. (Just like the heated floors!) Great video!

I went there before it was pretty good 😎😎
its likes the R211T in NEW YORK CITY
Now I kinda wish DC would add that same LED line name screen to its trains like NYC
@@29downtheline ye that would be nice
The 3000 Series will be replaced by the 8000 Series
@@JaxBrubaker-po8ld I definitely have mixed feelings about that! (I love the 3000s!)
Yeah, me too! The 2000 got retired this year!
@@JaxBrubaker-po8ld I already miss them!
Strange we had wheel issues with the 7000 series and now think it’s a good idea to make wheels out of tarps 🤦♂️
Also crazy how you were like “last time we’ll be able to stick our head out the cab then metrofest happened like 2 months later.
@car_tar3882 I definitely didn’t foresee Metro Fest being a thing (but sitting in the real cab was SOOOOOOO much better)!
@@29downtheline metrofest was awesome! I hope they have a 3/6000 at the next.
If only they’d bring out the 2000s! I feel like this would be enough of a special occasion!
