performed original by the Temptones on the Label Artic, song written by Daryl at the age of 18 i believe, was a fantastic song back in the 60's at the heart of Philly soul and was very good to see him redo the song, fantastic performance.
From all the books I read, they were considered for stardom but despite having immense talent, razor sharp choreography, original material (very few soul group could boast original materials then) and being admired by the Temptations themselves, they never took off. First off, Arctic records was not big enough to take them far, and it was confusing to market them - because being a soul group, the members were all white!
Damn! What amazing soul that leaves me happy and pumped. I always liked Hall & Oates but this collaboration makes me want to go back and listen to more non-mainstream songs that I haven't heard before.
Daryl's House has enlightened me to so much great music. Thank you!!! Sadly I am requesting a refund of my ticket to the postponed Hall & Oates concert in the SF Bay Area. Just not sure how I will feel about going to a music venue in a year. Can't risk that much money at this time. While these videos w/edibles make me feel happy, it's nothing like the real thing. Gotta say the sound at Daryl's House is Jeff Lynne quality.
Back when he was more unapologetically derivative of other people's songs like "Never found a girl".. other people seem surprised that the Temptones didn't take off, but the writing's pretty much on the wall here.
That lady just oozes soul. It's as if she's been plucked straight out of the golden era. Amazing performer
