I am a proud Oakwood University Graduate who is totally proud of the Aeolians. I want them to sing the opening song to usher in the coming of our Jesus.
Heard this choir on WMMR in Philly on the Preston & Steve show. I’m now a fan for life! Such an amazing group of musicians! What a tradition at that college!
Beams of heaven, as I go through this wilderness below, guide my feet in peaceful ways, turn my midnights into days. When in the darkness I would grope, faith always sees a star of hope, and soon from all life's grief and danger I shall be free someday. Refrain: I do not know how long 'twill be, nor what the future holds for me, but this I know: if Jesus leads me, I shall get home someday. 2 Oftentimes my sky is clear, joy abounds without a tear; though a day's so bright begun, clouds may hide tomorrow's sun. There'll be a day that's always bright, a day that never yields to night, and in its light the streets of glory I shall behold someday. [Refrain] 3 Burdens now may crush me down, disappointments all around, troubles speak in mournful sigh, sorrow through a tear-stained eye. There is a world where pleasure reigns, no mourning soul shall roam its plains, and to that land of peace and glory I want to go someday.
All these pseudo music critics. This choir did an OUTSTANDING job of this composition. Dr. Nathan Carter would be certainly proud. Although we all have our own opinion based on personal taste let us be positive in reference to our words. This choir is a world class choir and interpretation of the text and music is subjective.
This rendition is a deeply moving one. When I listen to this song it causes me to long to get home and be with Jesus. Surely, that is the real objective for this God given gift of music.

Beautiful...it's different every time...keeping it fresh...gives different soloists a chance to contribute on a signature song before they graduate...improvisation, (there was no modulation), is always good, always allows for personal interpretation of a what the writer intended...who also may have done it differently each time, depending on his spirit! Bravo, Ferdinand and the Aeolians! Bravo!
Yes precious memories Oakland I gotta tell you can't hear this music on the radio you not going to find it in Atlanta on WCLK you not going to find it on kiss 104. 1 the best you can do is fine weup if it still exists OCG and maybe you'll find this music but I'm very fortunate that you tube allows me to come back and review and step back in the past remember this great music oh I am touch when I'm sitting in my taxi when I'm sitting in the urban street violence is everywhere and I get a chance to hear it is great music my heart rejoices because I realize that I'm a stranger in a strange land and that my walk on this earth is temporary but until that time comes we give all praises to the Lord this is awesome this is magnificent and I'm very happy very pleased to say that I go to bed with this music no.1 that all is going to be alright in the end if the name I'll be in God's hands
WOW! I cannot believe the composer taught me and I was one of the 1st to minister this! Dr. Carter used many soloists and special vocalist for duets and trios. So blessed to have known him! I learned so much from him! I thank God he chose me for many! Sing babies!!!!!!!! You all blessed me today!!!!!!
This was my favorite song back then. I was so happy when we started rehearsing it. But looking back at this video, we all looked like babies in college 🥲.
Y'all better sing!!! Choir, Organist, soloists, rafters, trio,... Let everything that hath breath... To the glory of God!!! God bless you all. God bless you Mr Ferdinand. They saaaannngggg!!!!!
I will rep VOT till I die, I sang with that choir my 4 years (2014-18) and that is MY choir ❤️. But I do love me some Aeolians. What are the lyrics in this magnificent song? Could someone help?
@hesings Ferdinand has been performing it like this since, like, 2003 with Pine Forge Academy. I guess I never knew the original, but I like this version. Even if it was Hayden or Bach, I wouldn't mind some improvisation, lol.
Oh, also, I really like this song. I always get "Jesus Paid it All" mixed up with this. Sister Rosetta Tharpe and Marle Knight's version is pretty cool. Which is the original?
Don't mess with my Aeolians, (including your part) singing. Not too much at all. Don't listen to the critics, every bit of this song was well done. Y'all make me want the angels to hear this song sang by y'all on that Great Day, they sure will fold their wings. You all saaaannnnggg!!!
Very passionate singing from those young people. Good to see the great tradition of the legendary Dr. Alma Blackmon is going strong. However, the showboating by the organist was not necessary. He's not really doing anything much on the organ, there's nothing technically virtuosic about what he's doing other than the fact that he's opened up the organ fully. Yet, then untrained ear would make you believe that he is. Other than that, Keep up the great work Aolians!
This arrangement has enough big moments in it without all the gratuitous swells and retards and repititions of the chorus. The pipe organ was just arbitrary and out of place. After a while, it's no longer legitemate interpretation, it's just choral masturbation. The director is just going for one eargasm after another, and the big part of the song is lost to 5-7 other "bg partts" leading up to it. FABULOUS CHOIR, though!

Best choir in the world. Officially!
I’m blessed whatever people want to say. Absolutely beautiful
Did they win choir of the world in Wales? Or some prestigious award. They sound somehow imbalanced in parts.
Ngati Hine Goodbye to you smh. God bless.
Brought tears to my eyes...a taste of heaven...so beautiful x
