the aged ps vita have so many features that the switch does not.. if only sony supported the vita more. its still a very capable handheld
I mean not really in terms of specs anymore. It is literally just as weak as any cheap smartphone in terms of specs and the screen also had some problems on the fat model

No matter what people say, the Vita had something going for it in the form factor and looks- there has never been a sexier looking handheld. Not even the DS families with their clamshells.
vita is GBA 2.0. nothing can beat it.

the biggest flaw was the storage... 8gb memory cards for 32€?? i guess someone was drunk while pricing because you can get 32gb micro sd cards for 8€... then you have to hack your vita to use micro sd cards... no problem for me, but from an official realease product it was just the biggest fail in my opinion

I love my switch but I can't say No to the design of VITA. Sony should build a new VITA with better hardware and allow people continue play psp/VITA games. Wake up Sony!

Idk i have a nintendo switch and other consoles like ps4 xbox ps3 etc but for portable gaming i keep coming back to the vita. I think its still a great console. Peace!

This is incredible. Thank you for showing that even today, there’s a bunch of hidden gems left to be discovered on the vita and still even new games coming out. For a 6 year old system, let alone one that people say “flopped” that’s pretty impressive. Help! How do you copy Midway arcade treasure to Vita now? It's not showing in my downloads? Even when I connect it to PS3 that I see it on?

I dont understand Sony. They abandoned the Vita because it didnt get enough sales, but it didn't get enough sales because it had a few problems, the biggest one being storage cards. If they tried to keep the market for the Vita healthy and affordable, it would have had more sales for sure.
yeah, if they just used a normal sd card slot, it would be an awesome device... but hacking and sd2vita is always an option ;)

Hello, I am new to PSVITA. I have Latest Firmware on my PSP. Can I use normal SD card in PSP Vita? The original PSP Storage cards are very expensive. Thank You.
I just bought a Vita and couldnt be happier. It has so many games on it that I NEED to play and the fact I can get Ps1 AND PSP games on it is great. I never had a ps3 so there are some titles I missed out on (looking at you Atelier series) so I'm excited to dive in to so many games. If you're a big JRPG fan than this handheld is DEFINITELY still worth picking up today! Plus I think I just saw a hack released for the newest firmware?

the twitter app doesnt work perfectly, it is still limited to 140 chars, and the displayed tweets are truncated with a link to the browser version at the end, I immediately noticed it because the exact same thing happened on my xperia play

Lately I've been playing PS4 on my PC using remote play more than on the PSVita. I guess the PC app is getting more support from Sony and feels a lot smoother now.

Titan X Playz I had one and the vita tv and it sucks would buy it again if I had a ps4 cause only had bing I like the vita for was portablility anime games jrpgs and remote play sold my vita tv for a switch last year cause I didn’t get to use it a lot on the tv and I was better selling it if I like that it had a lan port and playing senran kagura and Digimon was great but couldn’t use it a lot on tv so I had no use for it anymore and sharing movies on web browser was amazing
Bolt 3887 vita tv doesn't play many vita games but it was a good little console though , but I like the vita for portable , switch is awesome but its too expensive for me to buy one

Titan X Playz that's why I hate PlayStation and the Vita. They steal all the Japanese anime games and make the games exclusive to there consoles only. It pisses me off
My Vita is damaged but I'm not going to give up and buy a new one or a Switch... I'm going to fix my Vita (somehow) with spare parts that I will eventually get. Buttons, joysticks, circuits, motherboards, etc.

I began downloading good old games that I used to play on my ps1 and 2 on my vita
You should check out Twin Breaker when it comes out on March 24th. I bet they would give you a code too if you asked. It's a $10 game but a little promotion could help since so many people come to you for info on handheld games that maybe don't listen to Sacred Symbols (the podcast creator is having this game made, and is writing the story)
It's coming out on PS4 and Vita, with cross buy. Both versions will have a platinum that is reasonable
My favorite games for the Vita are Axiom Verge, Shovel Knight, SuperBeat Xonic, Namco Museum, Activision hits remixed, Sega Genesis Collection and Capcom Collection.
Might give some of them a try. Already platinumed Shovel Knight tho

I’m also one of the people who does not care that the slim has an lcd and not and oled screen. To me the difference Is so small I can barely even tell the difference between the two screen types. The slim will always be my favorite 😃
My wishlist for the Vita.
1) A firmware update to officially remove the PSTV Whitelist.
2) A firmware update that will let us use the Vita as a PSTV controller for any touch/camera/motion based Vita games.
3) An L2 R2 trigger grip with its own built in UMD drive, Memory Stick Duo slot and rear touch pad.
4) A firmware update to allow us to use USB sticks for additional storage - seriously, they sell 256GB USB sticks with full size and micro USB plugs - why can't we use them on Vita!? We can use external harddrives on PS4, why not the Vita!?

Good news Marc, Sony put out a patent last year for a 'hand held' console. Im pretty sure they might have one in the works as we speak. It would be the successor to the Vita of course. :)

Thinking about selling switch for ps vita because never use dock on switch plus i like more portability and i know there arent any new games coming out for it,but theres more variety games and they are cheaper and i think ile use it more on the bus
Just sold my Switch. Just bought a Vita and Ps4. Along with Sony phone mount. So I can connect my Pro controller. I play remote play with the controller without any lag. Makes the game library massive

The Gadget Geek go for it. Other than the remote play, its worth it tbh. Ive had my vita for two weeks now and im loving it. Ive bought 6 games now and been playing it since ive had it. All i need is my accessory for me to play my PS4 games.
Have you tried remote play on a PC? Vita has about the same amount of lag, unless you're using it remotely (as in another location entirely, connected to a different wifi network or mobile hotspot). Then the lag just gets worse depending on how far you are away from the PS4. Also, mobile hot spots can work, but for example mine is almost never good enough to handle the highest quality smoothly. Sometimes I have to put it on 360p 30 fps, but 540p 30 is sometimes possible.
Also, your home wifi needs to have good upload speed.
This is what's necessary - PS4 network speed - 1+ Mbps download speed, 4 Mbps MINIMUM upload speed, 8+ Mbps recommended
And your remote network would be the inverse of that. 4 Mbps MINIMUM download, 8+ Mbps preferable, and 1 Mbps upload is pretty much all that's needed though lower can work, just not too low.
This goes for remote wifi or mobile hotspot networks. Wifi will always be better because it'll have less latency than mobile.
But if you're only planning on using remote play at home, the quality of your router is the most important thing but also, plugging the PS4 in with an ethernet cable helps a fuckload. If remote play works well with a PC at your house, vita would be viable
They release remote play for smartphones, but for some reason it has more than double the lag that PC or Vita has so don't bother with that. It's not playable at all.

I love my Vita, I still have the original model with me that I was given from, like, 2014, and hell, it even had a 32 gb memory card, and I remember loving it, it blew the original DS I had out of the way, it became my favorite handheld.
I recently installed CFW on my Vita, and the Vita is an emulation beast!...if you exclude the N64.
I say, it's worth it to get one just for the games it has, but installing CFW in a handheld as good as the as the psvita, it makes it more valuable.
I hope the vita keeps going strong in 2019! I love my switch, but for handheld gaming I will always prefer the look and style of the vita. That OLED display is great! I’m also quite a trophy hunter. It’s unfortunate that Nintendo never developed a similar system to Microsoft’s achievements or Sony’s trophies. It definitely adds replay value to many titles.

Unfortunately I had to give up on this great handheld and now only play ps4 and mobile gaming. Still miss it at times but Sony has made it clear long ago they have given up.

I traded in my neon blue Vita and got a new Switch at half-price! Also got Bayonetta 1 and 2 with it. The Vita was a good console- it fought a good fight despite Sony abandoning their child so cruelly.
Abhishek Bandyopadhyay that was stupid. Vita has many features a switch still doesnt have. So many its a shame that switch is barebones compared to Vita. I just bought back some vitas the other day and just got done playing some games for a few hours and plugged mine in to charge and jumped on here to watch vids on vita. Vita is a awesome machine that should always be kept around. I pawned and lost my two vitas I had in the past that is in new mint condition and he sold them and I was pissed but luckly he had two more still selling and I grabbed those bad boys fast since I got them for 75 bucks each. That was a steal even used.

Switch is great. The good thing is that you KNOW Nintendo is all in on the Switch and it will be getting all premiere Nintendo titles. Don’t listen to the Vita fanboys, especially the guy above who called YOU stupid and then proceeded to tell us about pawning his Vita TWICE, continue to pretend that it’s better. Get yourself a Switch Pro controller. It was a very important purchase for me, as I like to play BOTW and Mario Odyssey on the big screen. Sure, Vita has some features the Switch doesn’t, but so what? If it has no legit great titles for it, then why does it matter? Like Xbox One fanboys who struggle to admit that it doesn’t matter that their console is more powerful if they have no games for it.
Vita could have been great. There are some good Vita games. Yet, there is a lot of shit also. Some of the ports are terrible, like he mentioned God of War, which looks awful on the Vita. So many titles are like “off-shoot” altered or knocked down versions of console games, not legit console titles for Vita. Sony has only made about 100 PS1 titles available for Vita, thats a joke. Almost no PS2 titles. Meanwhile Nintendo’s virtual console has a massive library. I can play NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Game Boy Advance, DS, & 3DS games on it, and the list only gets larger as time goes on. Even Square-Enix is releasing classic titles for Switch, like Chrono Trigger, and Final Fantasy 1-9.
Somy is full of shit, bitching about phone games, claiming its a waste to pursue portable gaming. Nintendo has sold 150 million DS/2DS/3DS models. That is insane! The reason they sold so many? Affordable, non-proprietary memory cards, killer indie titles, porting classics (but in a good way), and they get BIG TIME titles for their systems.
The Vita should have sold 100 million at the minimum. We should all be playing PS1/PS2/PS3 titles on our Vitas. We should all be talking about the next huge exclusive title coming to the Vita. We should all be discussing what the Vita2 will be like, and if it will have an HDMI dock like Switch.
I recently compared BoTW on Wii U vs Switch on my 60” 1080p television, and the Switch version actually looks better.
It is clear that technology is capable of making high definition consoles that fit in your hand. The Switch has already outsold the Wii U, and the 3DS is coming to a close. I predict there will be a Switch Pro coming, as well as a smaller, less expensive switch for more portable gaming. Nintendo has shown this can work.
Would it surprise anyone if Sony or Microsoft basically copied Nintendo? With the Switch on the HDMI dock, and the wireless Pro controller, it IS a Nintendo console.
I doubt they will copy it, but I’m telling you right now, that the Switch is revolutionary. I wanted to love the Vita. Its a great piece of gaming gear. However, there are only 18 titles with an 85+ rating, and HALF of those are indie download only titles. Several of the other ones are simply rehash and remastered versions of games that already existed. Two of those games are Rayman games available on other systems. That is TERRIBLE. Mortal Kombat? Final Fantasy X-HD? Seriously?? These are the big time games we get? Mortal fucking Kombat? What am I, 12 again?

I love Playstation. Always will, but they fucked this whole thing up so bad. A new Vita was $299, but you needed a ridiculously expensive memory card, so you’re spending $400 before you even have a game!!! Nobody is going to pay that when a PS4 Pro is $400!!! GTFOH!
I truly think that the memory card issue was the nail in the coffin. If you’re a collector, how much will the Vita memory cards cost in a decade? Probably more than the Vita itself. Right now, a used Vita is $150 refurbished, while a new 64GB memory car is $100. A 64GB memory card for Switch costs less than $20, and 128GB costs $30. You can also get 256 GB for less than the Vita cards.
I totally get hard-core gamers having the Vita. I love gaming but have kids and career too. There is no room for failed systems in my life. There isn’t a single game on the Vita to sell the system, not one title that makes you go....”I’ll buy this just to play that!!” People talk about the Vita being an RPG lover’s dream.....well the 3DS has 28 RPG’s with an 85+ rating, and thats before you even count virtual console, download only and indie titles.
Games sell consoles, not the other way around.

I still have the psvita and original one. One of the best things Sony did with psvita was the ps1 classics and I downloaded MGS all tomb raider Resident evil 2 and 3. I still think psvita is worth getting with the top games.

Acctualy the Slim LCD screen is very good, but the games are set for way too much gamma/brightness because the Oled screen has really dark colors. Get a game with Gamma/Contrast option like Ninja Gaiden or Mortal Kombat and you see how good the screen is when the game is set correctly to it.
I like the slim better too for the same reason and it's lighter. I have the both models of the ps vita. the original 1000 and the aqua blue slim japan model. I have 46 games on my ps vita all digital except tales of innocence r and I have a 64gb memory card. and I love and play with my ps vita more than the nintendo switch.

Whats on my Vita ? Firmware 3.60 with Henkaku an emulated PSP, Emulated Gameboy alot homemade games by the community and i got some physical games for it.
oh and i forgot i can also run PS1 games on it.

Aber ich muss auch mal wieder alles updaten oder so irgendwas spackt rumm oder ich setz alles neu auf nur weils auch nicht mal eben gemacht ist hatte ich noch keinen bock drauf.
Wotans Krieger kenne das sehr gut hatte mit meiner Vita2SD schon öfter kleine Probleme oder bei der Installation von Plugins man kann halt auch viel falsch machen bei der Konsole aber für einen J-RPG oder Retro Fan ist sie dennoch fast schon ein muss.
