Wow, that lighting crew has the best job ever. Getting to control an awesome lighting rig and having a blast dancing at the same time...I'm jealous. :)
There is very little that I don't know about how to run big shows, since doing big shows is what I do for a living. If you are running the show on Grand MA's, in network, you usually just back up each session with 1 desk per session. And this is how most people operate big shows today, which is heaven compared with what it used to be like, which is what you describe, 1 back up desk per operator. Very space consuming, and very expensive. GRAND MA ROCKS! :-)
It is! There were a total of 7 Grand Ma I on FOH for lighting and video if I remember correctly. Desk 1 did key light, desk two did Hippos, desk 3 was a back up for that session, desk 4 did half the show light, desk 5 did the other half, desk 6 did audience light, and desk 7 was a back up for that session.
Wow if im working im not going crazy like these people and you see the sound or lighting technicians working focused while the other part of the crew is having a good time
@rocks130 did you know that with big gigs that every light-technician has 1 console for backup they are crazy right 2 times 40 000 x amount of operators

Hi Dylan. No not really. Since there was 5 Operators. So Grand MA II would not have made any difference, or any other desk.
