Forever and always. Visconti, the producer of 14 of his records, including the last one recently came out to say this was his pinnacle, his zenith, and intentionally so. They wanted this to be his sgt pepper. And it is. I go back and forth as a fan. But this record really is it.
@@anthonymaylett5823 Just mentioning the whining, coughing, bum note singing, wannabe-poet Dylan on the same day as Bowie is an insult to mankind. Lou and Iggy were/are great, with Iggy almost reaching Bowie levels. But Dylan - what a joke!
One of Fripp's best solos ever paired with one of Bowie's best vocal performances, a truly unique sound, great lyrics, and production. What's not to like?
@Stuart Maxwell You should listen to it with a less edgy mindset and appreciate how much effort bowie put into this album he was really aiming to make own sgt pepper, and the amazing work of the d-a-m rythm section with fripp and visconti's amazing use of synthesizers really put up with bowie's songwriting Anyway, it's a very hasty statement, I understand how you might have expected something similar to the berlin albums but I'm sure you'll grow to love it's quality, as you've been open-minded enough to love his precedent glorious works
Bowie making post punk was easily as innovative as Joy Division, X, Talking Heads, The Birthday Party and other early 80s post punk masterminds. That barking dog sample or whatever is a nice subtle touch.

Fripp should have gotten a co-write credit for this one and "Fashion" as well. His guitar work just elevates this to another level...like it does on most of his work. Forget Mick Ronson or Stevie Ray Vaughan - Robert Fripp was the greatest guitarist to ever grace a Bowie album.

honestly I feel like scary monsters' the best material fripp ever got to work with, the DAM rythm section along with him is just pure bliss
Not to disagree but listen to Isle of Wight 1990's with Reeves Gabriel as lead. It will blow your mind!!!
Fripp is a genius. He knows how to add a layer of beauty over anything...
My fave Bowie album :)

So..exactly 40 years ago David Bowie wrote the best global pandemic lockdown in isolation album ever. Always ahead of the game was David.
He was always 10 years ahead. When everyone else figured it out. He was 10 years ahead. Again.
one of his best albums if not THE best
The best for sure, no skips on this
Got this album as a Christmas Present all the way back in 1980 R.I.P Bowie sadly missed.
I just can’t except David is gone! His brilliant music and beautiful spirit live on. RIP Ziggy!
Scary monsters, super creeps. Keep me running, running scared...
