Ticking Noise 2015 BMW S1000R

There is a ticking noise that seems to be coming predominantly from the left side of the engine. Initially the ticking only occurred between 3,000 and 4,000 RPM. It now occurs even during idle. There is an additional noise/problem that occurs at 6,250 RPM, almost independent of which gear the bike is in, but it is most obvious in 2nd gear.
My local BMW dealer says this is normal, but it sure does t sound that way. The motorcycle only has 4,600 miles on it.
Update: replacing the butterfly valve and chain cam tensioner solved the problem
