Just to note, the any county code setting is not as bad as you think it is. And it's good because sometimes warnings come late, but if they're issued for the county "next-door" you'll know the storms are coming, and you have time to prepare, versus where the warning is issued for the one county that's programmed, it could be too late.
Charles, Thank you SO MUCH !!! I bought my NOAA 2nd hand from Ebay, and the instructions did not come w the unit. Ive heard the weather caster , for years recommended getting a NOAA. I came across a super deal at $6, so I got it. You made EACH AND EVERY STEP.....simple and understandable. Your video was the BEST on UA-cam!
In some cases the the multiple S.A.M.E setting is best, in my use scenario I live where 3 counties intersect, so I have alerts setup for all 3 of those counties, though the N.O.A.A station WXJ76 operating on the 162.550MHz frequency has been out of service for several months, which leaves 2 of the counties I border without service, the county which I reside in still has N.O.A.A service and the station covering it has expanded its coverage and alerts to help reduce the outage area
Help please!!! Pasco County FL.... I am only fi ding a 5 digit code online. My radio will not work...no sou ds of static or radio reports at all. New batter uh es and all programming tones are audible. Your tutorial us so well done and appreciated...even if my result is rotten. Thank you
Thank you, I was able to follow your instructions and get our weather radio working again. It's not intuitive, so without the video, I would have failed, I'm sure!
Charlie I have this exact radio and it does not pick up any weather or even make any static. The volume is fully up and the switch in the on position. I also hooked up an outdoor antenna. I guess the radio is defective. Any other suggestions? Thanks. Brian in Missouri
I had one with the same defect; it probably needs a new tuning chip, which is sadly not really something most people can replace. Sorry that this is a year late, but the best thing to do is just get a new one.
If you have a V5, ANY VERSION, your capacitors or tuner are possibly damaged or blown if it is squealing loudly or has no audio, so if you hear that squeal or no audio, the capacitors are blown or damaged, and the radio is dead. It would take 100 dollars to get one. Just get a V3 instead, it’s older but WAY better.
@@neptuneWX I actually did get a V3, although it did the "No Message" glitch yesterday. My V5 was not squealing, it just had no audio from the broadcast.

I hope this isn't to silly of a comment but I had it plugged in (my WR100), made sure the outlet worked, turned it on and listened to it then took out the batteries....it went off. My power supply was bad, so just make sure your power supply is working or you will be replacing batteries way too often. I hope this helps (sorry it was a year ago but I just found your comment)

This piece of junk does not broadcast any weather stations. All it does is make a high pitched tone on every channel. This unit is like new. Many other consumers have this problem with the WR100 weather radio. I would never buy another midland weather radio again. Thanks for posting the video.
C. Neese you make this so much harder than it needs to AND call your self a Meteorologist. Not Television Meteorologist and severe weather safety expert. DUH
HOW ABOUT YOU MAKE A VIDEO OF HOW TO DO IT, YOU'D PROBABLY BE 9999999999x WORSER, I NEVER USE COUNTY CODE, I GLITCH HAPPEND AND I FOUND MY COUNTY NAME ON IT, I DID NOT HAVE TO DO COUNTY CODE.
VERY BEST TUTORIAL
Thanks man. Just got this older radio reprogrammed for my new work location.
Wow! Thanks for making this complex process somewhat simpler.

Moved back South and this video was very helpful getting my radio set up correctly.
Thank you Charlie for this simple, informative video!! 🎊🎉
how do i turn down the volume of the beeps when pressing the button?
Great video! With your guidance, programmed weather radio very easily. Thank you!

Sir Charles, this is an excellent instructional video. Tks.

Does anyone know how to change AM or PM settings
the WR-100 doesn’t have AM nor FM
If I have mine set on any do I have to put in county code? Or will it go off for all locations in the broadcast area?
if you want any then put any, you can set it up for single county or multiple though
cute lamp, 'charlie'.
villan He looks like a charlie
I cannot stop a high pitch squeal from my unit .
Same here.

Replace it with a WR120 or get an older model.
