that arrow marks the middle C (C3). That note plays a role in some of the modulation settings, for example you can put the filter cutoff, or resonance, or pitch, or any other sound parameter, in relation to the note number (aka "key tracking") -- in a way that, when C3 is played, no change to the parameter occurs, but as you move up the keyboard, the parameter value increases, and as you move down, it decreases (or the other way round, depending on how you set up the mod matrix).
