I think it might have helped if he saw her pictures since men are visual but since he did not technically he had only their conversation to judge with and right from the start they weren't on the same wave length. He had to explain his questions to her more than half of the time and she wasn't really listening to him, kept interrupting him and seems to have a totalitarian mindset while he is open minded.
