    I started with the same airbrush and yes everything that will go wrong does very fast, happy I moved on to higher spec airbrushes. Amazed you still use them but your results are testament that it's not just the brush but the person behind it, an airbrush doesn't auto make a painter an amazing painter. Very impressed every time I see your work.

    Just want to say I've painted 40K for years, and for the last 2-3 years have been airbrushing a lot, including my large Ultramarines army. I've watched this video 3-4 times and am amazed how you kind of 'free wheel' it. I just wonder if by diluting your washes a bit more (I know it takes time) you would retain some of that amazing look on stuff like the wings. (The washes kind of kill some of the dynamic colouring you start out with.)
    I pick up a lot from a video like this, but mostly it's impressive to see you simply crank out a whole model without caring about over spray, blending... you just keep going. I really enjoy your technique and colour choices.
    I watched this view so many times because I want to do a few unique Bloodthirsters and as you mention some look very similar. I'd love to see how you would tackle a black-skinned Bloodthirster. The GW versions seem sinister, but I think you could make them 'pop' more. I'm not sure I am brave enough to try a black skinned Bloodthirster.
    Again, I pick up a lot from this video that pertains to a lot of different organic figures. Thanks a lot for doing this.

    I might be a little late to the party, but what is the PSI you paint with throughout the tutorial? And what do you thin the paints with as they are very thick straight out of the pot. Thanks in advance.

    man you really make me want to start using my airbrush more hey what kind of compressor do u have because my compressor does not have a regulator so i had to buy a separate attachment to control my psi but it doesnt tell me what psi im at its a pull up an twist regulator dont really like it much

    Amazing job. The only thing I would prefer was more subtle is the red paint on the skeleton faces on the armor because for me there are too many of them. If only half of them were painted then this would be the best paint job I've seen for thin mini.

      Nurgles Rott As an award-winning, professional painter myself, I can say that it's not a talent thing. It's a practice thing. Like a musician, you have to put in the time. You will never be able to copy something beautiful on the first try, so spend those "oops" moments on lesser projects. You CAN achieve this look!

    Fantastic tutorial im going to try this out i enjoyed it so much, when you drybrushing the metalics i find sometimes that dust will go on to the skin and other parts but in your video it seems you dont have this trouble. how did you avoid this please?

    • @awakenrealms8802
      @awakenrealms8802 9 років тому

      EVILREG If you drybrush with whites you will always get dust that you have to wash under tap water or brush gently with clean dry brush. I usually dont get any dust with metallics, to avoid it make sure you use clean brush and you keep it clean while drybrushing , use a small amounts of paint and make sure that there is no old dry paint on brush, that should help :)

  • @Kalipp0

    I always like your painting, because it showcases that if you know the right technique to do things, you can really give a miniscule amount of fucks while painting and still get a good result!

  • @EvilhomerNZ
    @EvilhomerNZ 9 років тому

    Incredible work as always. You're colour theory skills are off the charts. I prefer the more realistic flesh tones too, the red just looks too.. cartoony. What is your mixing ratio for GW paints? You always get them to flow so smooth!

    Hi ... great job man ... little question: I have most of Citadel paints and I saw you are using them to. I use them for Warhammer 40k model painting, but I want to use more and more my airbrush for smoother results. How do you use them in your airbrush? Do you use some kinda thinner? Or is it Citadel Air paint. Hopefully not, because otherwise I have to buy that to :-) ... many thanks for the feedback and keep up the good work :-)
    Cheers
    Kurt

    • @marksimpson9104
      @marksimpson9104 6 років тому

      Kurt De Jaeger - all paints need thinning, even ranges specifically designed for airbrushing. Use Vallejo or Medea airbrush thinner.

    Quick question. If I was to get a commission do I would need to supply the model? Or do you guys supply the model and that's added to the commission cost?

      But fastest and easiest way is when we will buy the models.

    I won't deny the end results on wings look great, yet I can't help but cringe every time you switched colors on the washes without cleaning your brush. It contaminates the washes.

    The wings look like a freaking snow cone, and it is becoming a tad tiring seeing everyone airbrushing their miniatures. It makes everyone believe they know how to blend, and it's just less...pure than the bristle brush. It can yield effective results, however, and not everyone pulls it off quite right. The skin on this 'thirster looks good!

    • @Flyfishferfun
      @Flyfishferfun 9 років тому +7

      Jason Colbeck Pure?? LOL...Most people blend with a blending brush (which doesn't have bristles at all). So how is using an airbrush not pure? The blending is solid, and clean. The result is as good or better than any wet/dry blending effect. in less time. Choice of pallet is the artistic freedom awarded all artist, so even though you may disagree with his choice on the wings it doesn't mean it is any less effective or stunning.

    • @54jb3r7
      @54jb3r7 6 років тому

      Looks great to me. Whilst I agree that the airbrushing is overtaking aspects that should be painted by hand, wings are certainly not such a part. For many points and purposes I consider airbrushing to be the dipping of today's painting. It saves time, gets quick good results, just more flexible and without as much of the stigma. I don't have time to paint an army by hand anymore, if I can throw together an amazing looking tyranid army in 1/4 of the time I'll do that using airbrushing.
