Love Matt & Andrea, they are so honest about RVs and I appreciate the honesty. They also sell me on General RV because that company encourages Matt’s honesty. He’s also the reason I started following you. When is the Tampa show?
Good afternoon. It's been awhile since I was on.......and great to start back up with another home run video! Thank you very much for sharing your time and questions with Matt! No doubt you are preferring the shorts weather over the snow here in CO (though, badly needed to help put out the fires!). Safe travels!
I interviewed for an RV sales job years ago. I was using the interview for practice if truth be told. The sales manager told me they had a wonderful but secret system for selling Rv's. I called back a couple of weeks later to get feedback on the interview process. The sales manager told me "John, you did not ask for the job". My name is Dave by the way. The secret to selling to the public is Know the product well, believe in the product, and have empathy for the buyers. They had almost none of those attributes.
Modern buyers aren't stupid, that's for sure. The best businesses out there are the ones that treat you like a person and treat the deal like a business transaction and not some big emotional appeal. It's really easy to sniff out the vultures with their buzz words and fake statements. That's why we like Matt so much - he's an RV matchmaker 😜
Excellent interview with excellent questions as well as thorough answers from Matt. I’ll expand on a couple of points from a consumer prospective: Yes it is ok to tactfully / respectfully request a different sales person. We did exactly that with a recent vehicle purchase. We got the vehicle and the deal we were after and the dealership got the sale they were after (yes we would do business w/ that dealership again). Be straight with the sales person. If your just looking, let them know. They can then decide whether to start on building a relationship and educating a potential future client or go chase $$. If they chose to spend time w/ you, be respectful of their time. If your serious and prepared, let them know that as well. Now they will need to be respectful of your time.
Great info. Thanks guys and gal. Waiting about a year or two when many of those new RVers say “what did I get myself into?” I might add to Matt. All things require maintenance including our brick and mortar houses. Love the kids popping in and out. It’s real.

The important things for fulltiming are storage space, reliability, and comfort. You're going to be in it a lot more than most people are in their RVs so make sure it fits you.
Hey Tom! I hope you and the family are doing good! We're definitely NOT missing the Colorado weather right now - should be beautiful mid 70s this weekend here 😉
I drove trucks, with 53' trailers, for a living for a while. The side cameras are nice, for me but not required. For someone that didn't drive for a living, I would say its a must have for them, just for the blindspots.
You big rig drivers are in a class all your own for sure. I don't know how y'all do it. We spend way more time in campgrounds than on the road, so having the side cameras is a nice bonus when changing lanes, especially on on-ramps. I got fairly used to driving a long rig with our last setup - an F350 and a 37' travel trailer. No cameras on that one at all.
I'm with Matt on side cameras. .shoul be standared! Our 2017 Navion is fully loaded with everything EXCEPT side cameras whic we really wanted and leveling system that did not want (eats into CCC). Winnebago has side cameras now 3 years late fo us.

I'd have to say too many people jump on the first one that looks "perfect". Just like with houses and cars, there are hundreds of types of RVs out there so take your time looking. Get in as many as you can, compare them, and really analyze your choices. Most people probably go too small to start too, especially fulltimers, so there is a lot of trading "up" that happens.

Hey 😊 Jumping the shark actually means when a tv show that is starting to decline in its quality , as in it is just getting crappy , will do some ridiculous thing in an episode just to try and improve ratings. As you mentioned , when the Fonz jumped the shark literally on Happy Days. It was just not good lol. And it was more cheesy than the usual cheesy Happy Days episodes which I loved.
