I am a 5-8 teacher at a small, Christian school in rural Wisconsin. The K-1 teacher had her littles and her 7th grade son pick a ton of dandelions. Then she and her son made jelly in honor of grandma, who had passed that winter. When my student brought me some of this special dandelion jelly, I was very hesitant, expecting it to taste like grass. Instead, it tasted like sunshine! I love dandelion jelly!

Dont be in a hurry to have house down barn done and move in before your wedding. Relax, you two are awesome! So happy for you guys! Being broke after your wedding is normal. But people will pin money on your gown.if your lucky my mother in law said. Yep!!!!! They do even in envelopes

My Mom grew up dirt poor during the 50's and 60's. She would eat dandelion salads a lot. They were free and very healthy for you. I have started to learn the art of herbs and dandelions are high on the list of health food. I will be trying to make some dandelion jelly. Thanks for the recipe.

I don't think it can get any more simple than some freshly baked bread and homemade jelly. We all have those days where something like that is all we need to satisfy our appetites and make us happy. 😊
I'm looking forward to catching this and the EA video later today! I'm officially done with jury duty, so I'll be able to talk with y'all during the premiere for the first time in two weeks! I'm SO EXCITED for that! 😃 I hope everybody's had a most wonderful week so far! Cheers! ♥️✨

@@frontierpatriot- Tarpley, Thompson & Company were 95% cleaned out because of the George & Martha Washington Ball held in Williamsburg 2 weeks prior. There were literally only 2 gowns left...period!! Luckily one of them fit me, although it's a size too big. But I'm having it slightly taken in. I bought a double ruffle cap from Samson to go with the dress. You both look absolutely fabulous on the front cover!! So very obviously in love!

One thing I learned over the years is to not push myself so hard and that trying to make a situation fit into my vision. In other words, it would be ok if your house wasn't done before your wedding. You have a charming place to live in now. A few more weeks or so would be just fine. Then you could relax a little. ❤ I know you will have a beautiful wedding day!

I gave dandelion leaves and flowers to my Iguana. He loved it and I didn't have to go out and buy or capture bugs. Later I found out he was very healthy when I showed him around a bit. Dandelions are also a survival food and being well recognizable on its characteristics for surety on non-toxic for a quick supply.

Last year, I gathered dandelion flowers and made them into a tincture. Then I froze it because I didn't have time to make the jelly, but a friend who lived in another town did. Plus, she was an experienced jelly maker. She made it with pectin because it was going to be sold at a Farmer's market. Wow!!! I thought it was really honey. We just moved to a new state, so right now there are at least six but probably 8 cups of dandelion flowers in the freezer. I will get to them later.

Part of dandelion's perception problem comes from the fact that it grows in disturbed ground, often in suburban and urban areas, and is heavily associated with pollution. It's literally thought of as weeds from dirty areas. It's the stuff that grows in the cracks of sidewalks or in abandoned vacant lots in depressed cities. Of course, it can also grow in cleaner, rural wilderness areas and that's where you would try to find edible, forageable dandelions but those scenes of urban weeds are the reason for its bad wrap. It's like the plant version of a catfish that bottom feeds on a river, it depends on the condition of the river.

I cry post anesthesia. Every time. My grandson had all four wisdom teeth extracted at once with no anesthesia. Unfortunately he has Lupus and the surgeon felt it was a safer option. He did amazingly well! Happy to hear that’s behind you Justine.

I love your videos on both channels! That story of the mouse I think was inspired by something similar to what happened to us. When my girls were little we lived in a country home that was around 100 years old and not in great shape. We had a terrible mice problem that we couldn’t solve. I had been saving all of my oldest daughter’s teeth and I noticed a couple missing. I knew none of us had touched them so I stayed up one night and watched. A mouse was literally stealing the teeth! I kid you not!

Oof, yeah, grandpa used to tell me when he lived in Missouri if you dug too deep, all you hit is rock. Makes sense you'd need heavy duty equipment.
I'm 100% going to make dandelion jelly. That's cool! My kids might like it too. Easy to harvest, and we haven't sprayed our backyard for pesticides because we planned on having chickens. It's been years, but dandelions grow so great here. I know they are super useful for the root, tea, dye, and now jelly! Best of luck with the house!! I pray you get done on time, but if not, just know we make plans, and God laughs. Sometimes it's just out of our hands.

I am half Italian 🇮🇹 and my Dad and his family when he was small would go into the woodsy areas in town where there were several dandelions growing. They would forage their dandelions and would collect them and bring down the road miles away where they walked and would bring back home to rinse and cook them to eat.People did that decades ago.

Lololol I remember when I had my wisdom teeth removed. They put the gas mask on my face and told me to count to ten. I don't even remember counting to two. That's how fast it worked! A few years ago I also had an upper endoscopy. That time, they did the IV anesthesia like you had. I remember them telling me, "Okay, it was nice chatting with you. We'll see you after the procedure." Don't remember a thing after that. Woke up as they were wheeling me into recovery, asking me what kind of juice I wanted and I don't even remember all of the options they gave me. And then I proceeded to spill the juice all over my face because I was still groggy and completely missed my mouth.

Ah wisdom teeth! 😆 One doesn't sound too bad to deal with, I got all 4 of mine done at once .. I asked them what the wheel chair was for and couldn't believe they said for me I told them I didn't need it but once I stood up I about fell on my face 🤣 I said NVM I think I'll just sit down, I was a bit more loopy.. I remember the dentist asking how I fealt and apparently "I feel goooood" was a silly answer. 😅 He just responded with "hell of a rush isn't it?" I was so confused. 🤦🏽‍♀️🤣

This one took a while to click! Terminology! We call a conserve with the "bits" in it, jam. If the bits are strained out before sugar added and boiled to reduce, then that's jelly, same as the wobbly confection at a child's party. We'd make a jelly conserve with liberally seeded or tough skinned fruit, e.g., guavas or blackberries with apple extender. Cheers! Col, NZ

Where I live, in the high desert in SE Arizona, wells are also extremely expensive and the water table keeps going down here, so that we also have to go down about 500 feet, and often more. No creek or streams in my area, but lots of people collect rain water and have enough to be comfortable with. Others haul water or have it delivered. That's what I do until I get my rain water collection system set up ... which also means finishing building the house to I have more roof area. Some people build rain roofs, which are kind of like pole barns. You get the advantage of the roof for water collection and the shelter underneath.

I’ve made dandelion jelly and it does taste like honey. I leave most of the dandelions for the bees.

I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth out at the same time. I was 21. My Mom for some reason went and got a choco shake for me to drink when I was finished. I couldn't feel my face and the shake went all over my clothes lol. I was hating life for about 2 weeks after that. That is when they found out I was allergic to tylenol with codeine.

You are funny Ron. 😂 I heard of people taking videos of their friend or relative under the anesthesia and posting it on facebook. 😂

I have a friend that makes dandoline and violet jelly. We want to see your well when all is done. I grew up with a deep well and pump.

I feel your pain around getting a well drilled. The reality is that a well driller really has no idea how long it's going to take to get a well drilled. Every well they drill is different - one could take 1 day and give plenty of water at only 125' deep, while a well on the next building lot might take 3 days to get adequate water flow at 450' deep.
I waited for a well driller to come out for 3 months. When he finally did make it out, he drilled for 2 days to make it to 500' deep and to have NO water. That ended on a Friday. On the following Monday, I had to pick another spot on the lot for him to try again. After 2 days of drilling, he hit 1.5 gallons per minute at 550' deep. The first well cost me $8,000 to drill and not find water. The 2nd attempt cost me an additional $8,000. Then, to get more water so that I could run a house and water farm animals and gardens, I paid another guy $5,000 to do hydraulic fracking on the well. Then, I paid him another $4,000 to have a well pump, pipe, wire and a pressure tank installed.
The good news is that after paying $25,000 the well now makes 15 gallons per minute.
Fingers crossed that your well drilling experience is more successful and WAY less expensive than mine was!
    Take care and God Bless.

When y'all get your well dug, don't forget to get the water tested for heavy metals.

I've made dandelion bread, which is has a sweet taste to it. Have not made jelly. That's a project for this Spring. Have you made Sumac Jelly from the Staghorn Sumac? It is acidic but very good.
