Thank you sir ..very concise and informative. How early can the repeat dose be given (most units wait for 6-12 hours and most brand leaflets also suggest 4-12hours but what is the basis for this? Is it related to the pharmacokinetics and half life and does the half life vary between different brands?
Thank you. Yes, it is partly related to half life but the key aspect is to link it to clinical condition and in some situations you can repeat earlier. Most babies don’t need repeat dosing these days except extremely preterm
Sir what are the standard time limits for Very early cpap Early cpap Delivery room cpap Prophylactic cpap Are these same as surfactant time limits Thanks
Good morning. I am not sure if we have anything specified, as it would largely be decided by baby condition. However, labour room CPAP right from birth is advocated with consideration for NIPPV if worsening (and LISA if needing high FiO2). As some of these tiny babies may not have obvious distress when we start in the labour room, in a way, it is prophylactic CPAP (though we start this in extreme preterms who have a very high risk of progressing).
@@SridharKs ok sir. Few studies have mentioned the time for very early cpap as 5 minutes but i couldn't find out the standard time limits for the above mentioned terminology. Thank you
