This game definitely needs more prey items. Seems weird for dragons to survive almost exclusively off of other dragons including their own species.

I really want to get into this game, but the clans seem so oppressive to solo players or new players that I don't think I'd have a good time with it.
I agree. There is not 1 day goes by when someone will say "Then join a clan if you want to survive" like bruh why do i have to join a clan to play the game?

from what ive found on pvp, clans are pretty chill, and typically have territories, which are usually certain forests or land marks, so youll know where to be aware of other dragons.
an experience i had growing my first dragon on pvp, is i found an adult ss and a juvi flame stalker. i was a baby ss, and was along for the ride. we were like our own small little group, fighting against the odds or clans and territories around us. at one point, we stumbled into a territory, unaware it belonged to a clan at all. a small juvi ss, from the clan stopped by to warn us that this was their clan territory, which was pretty nice of them since id imagine some clans would rather just kos the player, then realistically chase them out.
of course, i died shortly due to thrist, and i was too heavy to be carried, but to slow to make it to water in time. i found out later that the juvi fs, had survived to adult hood, but the adult ss that was with us was killed off by the clan, as they lingered in the territory, eventually getting spotted and killed off.
all in all, solo players dont stand much of a chance in official pvp servers, so my suggestion would be to grab atleast a friend or two, and until you find a suitable territory to call you own, you should be keeping away from the larger clans. stick within forests, so that clans have less a chance of spotting you, and as long as you dont kos every baby dragon you see for food, you might make a friend or two along the way. of course though, this is just my personal experience, and im aware there are pretty toxic clans out there. however id say toxic clans are less abundant in pvp, as losing your dragon means losing its stats, bloodline, and skin, so i think for this reason, players are much more careful when engaging in a fight.
The big clans are the main reason why I don't play this game. Honestly feels like I wasted my money at this point. I hope they have an update where you can only have a pair of two dragons that are mated to eachother, and their kids can join the group till they're grown. That would make the game so much better, but instead we have these shitty ass mixed huge clans that kill every solo player and ruins the player base by doing so.
with the new map it will fix that problem
@@remigirouard2680 how you know for sure? The devs want to expand servers limit from 100 to 200 and I don't think a bigger map is going to fix the clan problem
@@Dragongirl-925 true think about it rn the reason clans are everywhere is because of small map so they camp every where and you cant go no where withou seeing 10 dragons ready to jump ya but with a huge map they can only camp so many places even if server limit go up

@@SirKolass It will atleast discourage the behavior by making things difficult.
A tip for when you crash into trees [if you didn't know you could do this] you can push 'F' again after you crash and start flying again. Just be sure not to hit any other trees when doing so. ^^
The concept seems amazing but the clans are just a big no-no, seems hard to hunt other players alone. Great video though!
thats why they alrady should add packs for those dragons, limit them to like few and turn off the chat so morons cant communicate int those huge groups, servers with rules should ban overpacking idiots, simple and possible to do ;)
At least there are PvE servers, so that you won’t get slaughtered by the numerous mega-clans if you don’t want to.

@@frynn1978 True, but PVP is really fun. It is just much less fun when it is a 1v6 or higher when all the dragons are capable of a good 1v1.
Ah this still looks so barebones and unplayable to me, they made a great improvement from the sand map when I last played it, but it still leaves bitter taste in my mouth from what was promised.
if you look at the map they are planing on making it might change your mind its 4 times the size of the current one and also more dragons will make it better as you can only play 3 dragons rn
@@remigirouard2680 Honestly that sounds awful, I'd prefer they stopped making bare empty open maps that are already somewhat big enough and actually fill them with stuff to do, currently its just a 'fly eat drink then die' simulator, and the clans dont really make roleplaying in the game easy. It just feels... empty. A super huge map is only gonna make that whole glaring problem worse (and its not like there are pretty graphics to make up for it, the game still looks like ass)

Yeah, their working on a new map that's pretty cool and new dragons but the fact is that the fundamentals of the game are still very rudimentary, bland, and boring. What their doing is using bandaids to fix internal bleeding and I hope they realize that but I doubt it.

They removed single player option to. Making it a completely different game when Kickstarter said it was included. I Kickstarted it thinking we get single player and more fun pve stuff. I hate pvp and want cutscenes and story.
They should make ancients a solo only access or small groups but sure there would be loop holes and issues regardless. Just thought may be a good idea to bring in numbers who don't like the whole big clan idea like myself.
DoD flight would be bad even if it works I'd say. The coolest thing about dragons is the idea of an airborne battle, and the flight is just not built for that. It's slow and weighty and too reliant on being managed basically 24/7 instead of focusing on your actual opponent
nah its just the fact that he's a hefty dragon, air fighting is for dragons that would be smaller and more lightweight such as the shadow scale. Flamestalker is just a bad flyer overall.

@@shiftyvee true, but it’s not supposed to be a dogfighting dragon game like century age of ashes, wish has insane mobility. It’s a survival. Though I do agree with the combat perspective of things you said
No the best thing is the Beautiful female flame stalker that heavy and fat! I love flying though but tbh this game just boring for bare bones nothing to do.
Yeah haha. People say the flight mechanics are so good, but when veteran players have problems getting off the ground that means the mechanics actually suck.
I was arguing with someone the other day about the new dragon, they swore it was strong enough to fight a clan (at least 2-3 players according to them) but whats the point when you grow it and end up fighting against them and the older ones all at once... you cant hurt other flamestalkers with fire. fs is immune to fire pretty much entirely. u kept getting distracted using fire against the fs which could be why you lost, besides them being a clan. fire is pretty good agaisnt shadowscales and acidspitters though if they cant get to water
He makes growing look so quick and easy.. just remeber all the times he must have respawned to end up spawning in a forest and how many takes and near deaths he had.
As a few other people have probably said, you do that pull up hover if you’re flying too slowly. There also seems to be this thing where shift and space can be toggled when tapped, even when it is disabled in settings. It causes you to either fly really slow or fast and you have to tap the corresponding control to fix it. Weird honestly. Love the vid though!
I just wish the genetics system wasnt such a big deal as it stands only the big established clans are going to be able to use it to grow to good dragons. They should have some system where you can improve all your stats and stuff as a solo player with only one account.

All dragons at Juvie stage can fly, but they have to take off of higher grounds ( hills / mt / cliffs /etc )
once you are around 20-40ish% (in juvi stage), then you can start flying on your own!
the dragons themselves look awesome almost realistic the only turn off is the map. It looks so out dated and empty... kinda like the legacy map in the isle thats why i switched to envirma. The map just look so much more alive and realistic and its just awesome to play in .

Hi Owl! Just a tip, the reason you were stalling in the air like that is because it’s a “flight glitch” as we call it. To fix it you tap space bar once and you fly normally again. This can happen as well by flying too fast/getting stuck on shift. You can fix that one by tapping shift once. Also, the offer is still open to join our clan. It would make the game more enjoyable for you. ;) good work though on that fight!

your dragon randomly pulls into that kind of "falling landing aniamtion" because you need to keep speed! as you fly, your dragon slows down and descends over time, so not using your sprint key enough can eventually make your dragon start to perform its landing animation.
i assume this is to keep players using the sprint, and using more stamina, giving them a reason to land more often than not. without this function, you could essentially fly up really high, and just keep going forward without having to touch anything, as your dragon wouldnt lose stamina unless you speed up or fly up. but by having your dragon lose speed while gliding, that forces players to keep using stamina, in order to stay in the air.

5:44 You’re stalling out. The angle you want to fly is too sharp for how fast you can go. You either have to fly more level or speed up.
Also when you’re about to hit the ground at any time, tap F again to save yourself from fall damage.
Glad to see a bit more day of dragons on the channel your the only source of actual survival and playing it. To bad its full of clans who want to make sure every member is elder so one day they can rull the land or whatever

Loved this day of dragons video. I don’t usually like dod, but this was good content.
For flight, you need to keep your momentum, so you have to hold shift, and if you need you can turn off inverted controls so W is up and S is down, makes it much much easier

Good to see you back at it. The Flamestalker is a carnivore, the dragon hunter and bug smasher lol mushrooms will only give 1% of food. You also might want to enabled your compass for the south and central is where you'll find most of the water in the game.
I think the flight needs improving, like when a dragon flies it's wings go straight and aren't 100% of the time flapping, just riding the wind currents like flying a reptiles did during the dinosaur times.

Baby flame stalkers need to eat a LOT. It's much easier to manage as an adult, thank god.

fs does almost nothing dmg to other fs with their flametrower. they got high fire resistance.
I'm not a fan of survival games but dam this looks pretty cool to get into, might have to look more into it

Id be interested in the game if it werent for clans. There needs to be a way to make skill shine through over numbers but it doesnt seem like thats the case. The game will strangle it playerbase while this persists.
Flying is a chore to learn but quick tip, tap f near the ground to do the landing animation. It lets u take off faster if something comes at u. Mushrooms just don't give a lot of food for the flame stalker.
The river creature is most likely the next playable creature, a water type.

I feel the main problem about this game isn't the controls (though those could be worked on) but the player base, they seem very toxic. And toxic players ruin it for the non-toxic players, even though the non-toxic people are more in number than the toxic people.
I don't understand how this game is so undeveloped after such a long time. In the video you state last time played was 8 months ago, so there's at the very least 8 months of dev time on it. I'm a web developer who knows things about how games work here and there. I could make this game in 8 months easily, but without the multiplayer just the systems. In fact I'm pretty sure I'd get that done at around 3 months and then add new stuff.

Yeah flame stalkers are very hard to grow. Mushrooms do little as an adult or juvenile +, hunger n thirst drop is just so intense. I think you're right about the flying mechanics, I think its easy personally because i've gotten used to the sharp movements needed. ASDs are something you always have to be on edge about, landing on ground in those birch forests is almost a death sentence. Can trust almost nobody on dod! I am happy to see you've played this. Air combat is very fun, though the fire is a little bit awkward to land a hit. I do like playing ss and asd to blast people out the sky, I seem to be pretty skilled at that!

This game is still going? I thought it was cancelled or there was some controversy. It kind of looks like it uses The Isle's bleed screen.
It mostly runs on misleading ads and playthroughs. It takes like 2 hours to be able to fly, with bad mechanics for flight too. No missions, no leveling up, no cool locations. You really just grow up and 'breed' to get better stats. Combat isn't at all nessicary and the only food to hunt is bugs :(. Ads made it feel like this wide game and prey on people who don't know about the scam. its 20 bucks.

That zero tactile feedback on attacks is beyond bad. That's something that should be worked on very early. If you can't even tell you're doing damage, your combat system is flawed.

Now I know why media like GoT or Lord of the Rings went with quadrapedal Dragons over hexapedal ones. Kinda looks ridiculous since it looks like a Horse in a Dragon costume when it runs rather than something more anatomically familiar since no vertebrate on Earth naturally has six legs.
those are called wyverns, these are true dragons with fhe "hexpedal" stance
@@angulardrift1537 Dragons can have any number of legs & the distinction is arbitrary; mostly that Wyverns can't breathe fire & use venom/toxic breath instead. Seeing as neither actually exist & are only based on ancient artistic description I feel it's safe to say that it's pointless to argue what's a *insert fantasy monster here* & what isn't lol
honestly they should trot more like cats, with their wings up like birds. Like toothless from how to train your dragon. They made dragon walk cycles look natural!
I must say, this game is very impressive! The textured dragons coupled with their seamless animations are truly remarkable. There's no denying it! But One thing that I really dislike, and almost hate, about this game is the clan wars. The presence of clans has made the game almost unplayable for solo players. Whenever they encounter a clan, it's always an all-out assault, with four, five or more dragons attacking at once. This makes the fight completely one-sided and unfair. It's not a fun experience, and it's unlikely to ever be one. I hope that the introduction of the elementals faction in 1.0 will change the balance of power. Perhaps people and clans will have a reason to NOT attack others on sight. But, it's unlikely that it will ever become a reality in this game.
I like the models and stuff but no chance im playing a game with a clan problem this bad.
The pvp servers have really toxic clans. But the pve servers dont. And you can still pvp in a pve server if you turn it on with a command and fight someone who also turned it on.

Flight mechanics aren't broken, it's just you need to speed up more to maintain flight.

i play days of dragons and you can tell that the group are all students level devs like i have a bachelor degree on Video game design i used to make prototypes(still do as a hobby) and i cant believe that this game has been out for 2 years and still have no tutorials and no improvement of the UI. The servers are mostly empty only in the beginner area where like 24 people the other servers had 4 to 3 the RP had 5 to 7(who knows what RP means in that server i said that cuz there is a major emphasize on breeding which yeah is a mechanic of the game for stats and skins but could also lead into...furry yiff stuff specially when a server is just call RP instead of realism and even more weird they have incest as a "mechanic"/debuff oh yeah incest is a thing and is also a mechanic but in their discord server turns out is against the rules cuz the babies/players that spawn in the nest will receive bad stats but like....why have incest available in the first place??? dont you have atleast a programmer that removes that ?? for the way i see it , if the previous programmer didnt make the BP complicated, is a matter of removing and/or blocking that feature/debuff) then on top of that they added on their discord server, not in the game, a long ass list of rules and information which makes me believe whoever is leading they are over their heads. yes is good to have a community but if your not improving the UI(which in my experience it takes 1 week and 3 weeks if the programmer made a complex code)and not putting tutorials(which it could just take about a week or 2 to make a room and speech bubbles) or putting the long ass rules and information or maps in the game(cuz for some reason you cant turn elder unless you have been in the discord sever for 14 days??? and some areas are restricted but no maps and bothering other players with "which area have the mushrooms to avoid become elder?" is annoying well i dont like asking and i like to play immersivity on semi realistic animal games but the point is all that information and rules should be in the game not in the discord server) then this game is going nowhere
Now i dont understand exactly the drama that happen before about the assets the only thing i heard is that everyone got angry about bought assets. i sincerely dont understand the anger on that cuz for me the problem was not the assets, you can buy assets and tells the sellers if the want to be credit or not, the problem that i am seeing that everyone fails to notice cuz they dont see game jams or study a bit of game development is that there is 12 members, last time i saw around november, and you tell me that a group of 12 still havent improve the game for 2 years?? no man sky was made by 12 people, yeah it suck at first, but if you compare between this 2 games no man sky had a better UI and the tutorial yes it took hello games 3 years and you might say "Beawesome Games will make updates next year" the only updates i read was that they were going to upgrade from UE4 to UE5(many people dont know but this is basically a major update to the game and the depending how much stuff you had put and render it can take over a day to finish updating and then, since new features have been remove and added to the new UE5 new bug and glitches could/may appear depending of the code that was made) and mention vaguely that the game is going to improve in the coming months....no no that is not sus they know what they doing is a small group we have to be patient
i wont call this game a scam i would just say that the developer thought that buying assets and cheap devs could make a money specially if it was an MMO where you sell DLC yes there is a DLC and that is the Acid Spitter Drake $7 and yes i also ha that idea but i decided no to cuz games should be for fun not for tricking players for moeny.........okay it starting to sound like a scam.
Also OwlTime i cant imagine how many hours you have to wait just to encounter other players kudos for your patience
You either eat mushrooms or bugs in this game. I dont play PVP I play PVE and it definitely needs bigger prey for the FS
