The Travolta project was presumably the unmade “Crack” which would of also starred Rebecca De Mornay. There are some basic promo posters floating around online.
The Travolta flick was supposed to be an updated western. I was working with Pyun on his last couple films - I wrote and completed the screenplay based on Pyun's story and notes. 'The Golden Age of Rock and Roll' Travolta too old to play the lead Stan Sax now. lol
Interesting that Cannon Films would almost get the rights to make films based on Captain America & Spider-Man. Honestly, The Punisher & Wolverine would've been way more in line with Cannon's style. Imagine if Cannon made a hard R/NC-17 Wolverine movie with Slap Shot's Paul D'amato as the title character and maybe even a Punisher film with Charles Bronson as Frank Castle.
I believe Street Smart was how they got Reeve to do Superman - he agreed to it if they also made Street Smart. Weird how many of these had good reviews but made no money, guess a bad reputation kills anything good you try and release.
Actually, It was Reeve who initiated doing another Superman IV movie only if Street Smart got made because it was his "pet project" that he tried for years to get made at other studios but got turned down. Only when he knew that Cannon was desperate for him to do another Superman movie was when he made the deal with Golan and Globus especially since he figured he'd come out ahead either way since the film he really wanted to make was being made and even then, The Go-Go Boys were still trying to screw him by penny pinching the film in which Reeve wanted to shoot completely in New York and instead it was only parts of New York and the rest in Montreal which really pissed Reeve off. Then they slashed the budget to Superman IV from 30 Million dollars to 17 which I'm sure really pissed him off more. Thank goodness that Superman V which was planned by them was never made at all after four completely tanked.
@@dannydaniel6017 i heard they also wanted to write the story for s Superman V around cut footage from Quest for Peace so they could film less. I can understand not wasting money on stuff but they were beyond cheap. But at least he got his film out of them.

I would have been genuinely interested in seeing La Brava. It would have easily been Cannon's most expensive film if it had gotten off the ground, but I guess they just couldn't keep their mouth shut once Dusty got on board. That John Travolta "project" or lack thereof is at once mystifying, hilarious and a bit sad. His career was on shaky ground at that point and he probably needed the work badly. Housekeeping was made a couple years after this, but not with Diane Keaton or indeed Cannon's involvement. I guess like La Brava, it was another prestige title that Cannon screwed up, because like La Brava, they got carried away after they lucked out with a Hollywood A lister.
