Thanks for breaking it down! This is a good way to justify the annual fees some of these cards have. Aside from downgrading your card when your card's anniversary arrives, have you had much luck asking for retention perks?

Did you also get the return leg thru points? Or do you usually just buy the return separately ? OW Sometimes can seem quite pricy..
