ABOUT ME
- I'm Cambodian and Chinese.
- I was born in November of 1983 and raised in Houston, although my heart lays in between Houston and Hawaii.
- "OG KPOP STAN": I've always used the term "OG" (supposedly "original gangster") to define being old-school, and I became an avid Korean music aka Kpop listener/lover since 1998. Kpop was my coping mechanism from the bullying I experienced in my younger years and it's just stuck by me ever since. Also! Just to be clear: me calling myself an "OG kpop stan" doesn't mean that anyone who's listened to kpop later than me is inferior. A kpop lifestyle is a kpop lifestyle regardless of time.😄
- I was a hiphop dancer for about 7 years. I did the whole crew thing, auditioning thing, competition thing, choreography thing, dance instructor thing, so I have some experience in that field and I hope to be able to share some perspective from my experiences for y'all to see the extra things that I appreciate about a video when I point them out.
- My videos can have quite a lot of cuts in editing and/or my eyes will unnaturally blink rapidly sometimes. This is because of my neurological disease that came with my lupus nephritis (posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome). My thinking abilities and speaking abilities struggle to align at times.
- Yes, that's Jack Sparrow's ring that I always wear in my videos. I've been a Pirates of the Caribbean fan ever since I rode the ride for the first time ever in Disneyland when I was a kid.🤓

That’s my initial thought..since you love pirates, it seemed like you were destined to become an ATINY (ATEEZ’s DESTINY)~❤️ And when our “Captain” Hongjoong captured your attention in your HALA HALA reaction video, I was like, ‘of course Hongjoong would get her attention!’ (since he’s also a captain and I noticed your Captain Jack Sparrow Funko at the back🤣). I found that part cute since you didn’t know much about Hongjoong and it was before you reacted to ‘Say My Name’ and heard Hongjoong’s line ‘Zoom in here ‘cause I’m the captain’ and it seemed like he was on his way to becoming your bias~😍 (I’m actually hoping he will be!ㅋㅋㅋ That’s another captain for ya!🏴☠️ Will we be getting a bias reveal on your next one?😁) . Ohhhh yes! Horizon is AMAZING! What isn’t though when it comes to Ateez.
This song made me realize that Yunho is probably my favorite dancer in ateez he just has this consistent energy that you can literally feel how comfortable and immersed he is dancing as you watch him. Also Wooyoung’s facial expressions insanity 😳
I can watch him dance and perform all day. It’s sad he doesn’t get much recognition outside of the whole puppy thing because he’s honestly such a beautiful performer. His body control is something else especially since taller dancers because of their height can make them look stiff compared to others even if they’re not so the fact that he never looks stiff is truly something else

It's funny because ATEEZ recently ranked the lowest in top boy groups synchronisation, but everyone and especially professionals/dancers love ATZ's cohesiveness in choreo that emotes raw passion and emotion behind each move. San even got a lot of attention for his Inception fancam where he literally is about to cry. Yeosang is actually officially a lead dancer and it rlly shows in this song!

@@rumi1379 it’s a real video series on YT, using computer technology to determine group synchronisation, I wouldn’t say it’s 100% accurate but because no ranking is. it’s all unbiased too, the channel is techie_ray.
@@rise1996 it's still a computer and she was using old Atz dances also Atz don't concentrate on sunchronisation but story telling, still they are one of the best dancers, even Lia Kim and other choreographers said that to pre-debut Atz in Code name is Atz

Ateez also mentioned that they've never really tried these sort of more contemporary/emotional sort of dance style before, so they said learning to perform it was a whole experience in itself. Before they came back, during the hiatus, Hongjoong, Seonghwa, Yeosang, and Yunho were taking contemporary dance lessons, and we suspect it was for the purpose of embracing the style of this comeback. We stan really dedicated performers!
Fun fact: 4 of the members are debuting in a KBS Kdrama called "Imitation" based on a very popular Webtoon with the same name and Yunho will be one of the lead characters! It airs on February 22nd, we already love Yunho so much we should prepare to love him even more if that's possible xD

ATEEZ are just amazing and so clean with their choreos. They leave me in awe with their performances every time.
Btw since you appreciate synchronization, I would recommend checking out VeriVery - G.B.T.B. They are one of the 4th gen groups that come close with their synchronization to the kings Seventeen.

Honestly, ATEEZ wasn’t the first 4th-gen group I’ve discovered. But after checking out their discography (until Answer era), ATEEZ eventually became my ult. I fell for their songs first before I even got to know the whole group! And fell even more after watching their performances. I’ve spent 2020 getting to know more about ATEEZ that I don’t even stan other groups rn..😅 ATEEZ just made my whole 2020 bearable..

I’ve watched the dance practice video at least a hundred times and each time I see something I missed. This is my #1 song, video and choreo of 2020. The fact they sing while performing this intricate choreo blows my mind. Mad respect to all of the members who spoil us ATINY with 1000% effort every time.

If you are a fan of choreos I will recommend some of my favourites!
Before I write them I want to say that their songs are connected and they often incomporate moves from their old choreos to tell the story, also you can see a lot of time they use their "8 makes one team" move which is really cute (in Treasure, Sunsrise, From..)
- Treasure + Precious transition - Treasure as we know it's the start of their Treasure/Pirate era and Precious is the end so both songs are connected also the choreos so it's really amazing to see! They start Treasure the way they end Precious!
- Sunrise - Hongjoong wrote this song during his trainee days and this song shows how how he felt when he had no one to train with when he came into the company, when one day after 6 months, Yunho came in, and one by one, the other members did as well. Like, if you see the choreography, you can see how the way they incorporated this story into the song.
- Utopia - easy one of my favourites also telling a story, it's very powerful and emotional
- From (ver. 2020) - This is their pre-debut song that HG wrote while they were training in LA, they performed it in 2020 with the same clothes/style incomporating the moves from all of their comebacks showing where they have started and how they are going now, it's very emotional stage with letters to Atiny
- Their Special stages on their first tour Expedition tour - You will fall inlove with all of them, they dance on american songs
- Their 2 Immortal song performances - they are a must, they are the first 4th gen group and 6 overall to win the show

Yo the musicality in Inception is SO UNPREDICTABLE. I didn't fully understand when dance reactions talked about musicality being different/interesting until I watched Inception (+ some of Seventeen's stuff obvs). Watching Inception performances I was constantly like "WHAT beats are they hitting??!? What part of the instrumental are they tapping into??!" Absolutely wild. BB Trippin really outdid themselves on this one and Ateez did such a good job of interpreting/translating it into their performance

one of my favorite parts of this choreography is at 15:16 when san is falling over, but yeosang is the only one watching him fall, it really adds to the lore! i recommend watching the diary film and seeing what this comeback was based around story wise since its so interesting!!
Inception is definitely in my top 5 for Ateez tracks. I like how you compare them to a wolf pack. My favorite trademark is their abilitybto move as one without all members having the same exact choreo. If that makes sense. They flow like wind in a sail, controlling each other other.

Reminder that this was the first comeback for Jongho after his femur had been fractured in a car accident. And he was still able to dance like that.
If you want more insight into their concept, you can try watching ATEEZ FILM, a whole 16 minute film they made for the story they're trying to tell through their music. It's a story of youth, dreams, finding yourself, your desires, and going to the ends of the earth as a team.

The fun part is when you watch what the rest of them are doing while Yeosang is doing his solo break dance. It's more clear on stage performances than in the dance practice, but it's as if each of them has an invisible string and is using it to control another member's movements. Mingi controls Wooyoung. Jongho controls Hongjoong and San. Hongjoong controls Seonghwa. San controls Yunho. The first time I noticed it I was mindblown.

Lore/Storyline chronology. "Wonderland" backwards to "Treasure" is young adult Ateez. "Answer" is modern day. "Inception and Thanxx" are teen years. All carry a parallel worlds (dark bandit Ateez, lighter Ateez) have to work together to find/save the ult Treasure. (Atiny metaphor, but also troubled teen/adult life journey and overcoming stressors and obstacles in life.)

If you plan to review their MAMA 2020, I'd like to suggest you check out the full performance of them, the BOYZ, and Stray Kids (as well as the 'triangle fight' piece) which work together as a themed 'battle for the throne' to promote the upcoming show 'Kingdom' that they will all participate in. The three performances are al based around the concept of each group as a different Greek god.
This was my first song with ATEEZ and I fell in love with them, I still listen to it almost daily. They are such an amazing group with such a unique sound and their performances are always off the charts!

San is my bias and Yeosang is my bias wrecker. But I’ve listened to so many of their B-sides and watched all their videos plus watched so many behind the scenes and their treasure series where they were in Australia which just really gives u insight into who they are

Since you've mentioned San as a performer, it would be good for you to know, that he became a trainee for his vocal skill and didn't know how to dance when he started.
Specially with inspection I would suggest for you to watch a couple of performances, each performances has a little something different "in sans part at around the end of the song" and its related to their whole theory BUT the performance just adds to the song SO MUCH the execute it so well and it makes you feel all types of emotions

I don’t take much time to comment usually since I watch YT straight from my TV, but I had to stop by to say I enjoy your content.
As an OG Jpop fan (mid 90s, V6) who discovered kpop when they collaborated with Shoo from S.E.S, I slowly transitioned more into kpop late 00s when Shinee got really big in Taiwan (yeah.. was following that scene a lot too)
Like you I disconnected for a few years but slowly crawled back mid 2010s with BTS.
I am no professional dancer, or ever even was close to it so I do not have your expertise, but I like your insight on it, especially with groups like Ateez and Seventeen which are quite frankly just killing it when it comes to performance.

San gets a lot of attention, and rightfully so because he’s such an explosive and amazing dancer. But I always hope Yunho gets attention for his dance ability, he’s such a great dancer, but I think because he makes everything look so easy he gets overlooked.
honestly (absolutely no hate to San, he's such a talented performer) I just hope that more fans/viewers appreciate the musicality and dance abilities of other members as well. While San's is obviously the in-your-face kind of dance style, i realized that all the other members performance add additional layers to the meaning of the song, especially when Yeosang looks at San when he falls in the end chorus. And yes, Yunho literally makes every movement look effortless, and I love that about his style!!
I can say that you're really meant to be an Atiny, why? First is the peter pan thing, next is the wolf pack and you''ll know it when you watch their mama 2020 and see their statue on kingdom, and now the butterfly thing same with one of their songs😏. I always feel like I get put in a trance when ATEEZ start dancing. I just can't take my eyes off them it's insane!
With Ateez it's more like a list of biases and sometimes they maybe switch rankings haha. I've never experienced that with a group before, not in my 12 years of kpop lol. Glad I found your channel I really appreciate your perception. This is the only dance practice I don't like of theirs because it's too far away for some of the details to be picked up on imo especially the facial expressions that go more into the storyline of this particular choreo. Some of the live shows or even weekly music show vids of them are actually better and highlight the nuances (like the mask removals towards the end that always gets me emotional). Just saying in case you felt like checking some out on your own 🙂 But then again this dance practice highlights the overall arch of the storyline and the incredible musicality. I love this song so much. Can't wait for answer its definitely in my top ateez songs and mvs.

They have Diary Film, It's longer than MV (16:21) but really interesting and show up part of their story/ It would be really interesting to see your reaction (Cuz it's supper emotional).
You pick a bias based on looks then once you start watching videos outside of their music and just them hanging/playing around it will mess you up because then the biases from personalities pop on and next thing you know...you just give up lol

Welcome to Ateez, we don't have bias' here, because I don't know what the hell they're feeding them over in KQ, but those boys are FINE. and dance like no-one else, they are primarily all triple threats, as 4 of the group, Yunho, San, Seonghwa and Jongho are going to be acting in a Kdrama with Yunho being a lead. It's wild, just how talented these boys are and they are all just amazingly hardworking genuine people.
