      The laguna is in the lower part of the park before you get to the entrance. Not a lot of people go there but Andres likes to take people there first on a tour because it’s small enough to do quickly and it’s so different from the rest of the park.

    It's not 3100 feet. It's actually 3100 meters which is over 10,000 feet. When I last hiked in the Cajas, we found a marker placed by ETAPA (the Cuenca water company) that indicated that we were over 13,000 feet.

    • @ayngelina
      @ayngelina  3 роки тому

      I am SO bad at saying feet when I mean metres, in future videos like in Quito I just put it on the screen because I always say it wrong.

  • @RicMoxley

    question - One of the last things you said I'm curious about: "wear pants, not shorts." Is that because of the temperature or because of plants encroaching on the trail that can scratch you? Thanks for the very informative video!

    • @ayngelina
      @ayngelina  2 роки тому +1

      Yes plants can scratch you but also it's cold because of the altitude and the weather is unpredictable. And the park rangers can reject entrance if you're not dressed properly. And make sure you have a good rain coat, you'll use it almost every day.

      Maybe in it’s original recipe when the Aimaras and the Incas used to make it, but even then sometimes they would put charqui in to the soup. I have never ever had vegan locro de papas in any place in Ecuador and trust me I have had a whole lot of it, I’m from Cuenca you see. It’s just a soup though, there’s more important matters like I would love to have your friend’s details because he seems to be very knowledgeable. My friend and I are visiting Cuenca in a couple of weeks and would like to see if it’s possible to have him as our Cajas guide. 😉
