I think so too . What is this world coming to ? Everybody wants to sue everybody over the dumbest things . I was treated that way at a Christmas parade when I was little . One of Santa's elves refused to throw me and my sisters any candy, but he threw some to some Spanish kids beside us . My mom said, " Don't worry about it . I'll buy you some ." this story exemplifies the power associated with the privilege from this group. When this video first went viral, my initial conclusion was that there was no racism here because the muppet character originally wagged his finger "no" at the white woman preceding the two black girls right before giving the "no" wave to the two young black girls, signifying that he was thru marching in the parade at that time (for whatever the reason) and just wanted to walk off after that. HOWEVER, the 2nd video clearly shows that the muppet character then walked back to the crowd to acknowledge the white woman who was standing on the other side of where the two black girls were - now indicating that he or she perpendicularly walked away from the line when he came to the two black girls, and then went right back to the white woman next in line after the two black girls, so this definitely looked like a racist incident.
He/she didn't wave the finger at the white woman there was a black boy standing on the other side of her if you watch the video again carefully you can see him. Just disgusting
@@Nic-of3dy Okay, I see what you mean. If you freeze the video at 0:49, they momentarily show a black kid standing next to the white woman and another little white boy with black shorts on which is probably her son.
Yeah, it's amazing how quick a lot of people are to say there was no racism here, even though the first video that'd gone viral CLEARLY shows the person in the Rosita costume looking down at the two Black girls and waving "no" at them despite having acknowledged a White person before them. People who never get victimized (or who victimize others) for their race will never see a problem with someone being mistreated for their race. It is what it is.
To these little girls, they were not being snubbed or hurt by an adult but by a familiar children's character in a place designed for children and supposedly welcoming to all children. They were being told they didn't belong there. Even if they were told that's not really Rosita, it's an adult in a costume like in a play. They wouldn't think of it in the exact words I'm about to use but wearing a costume and playing Rosita, they'd expect her to act like Rosita.
Now, I was not there, but someone who was there and also someone who works at sesame place have commented/stated on social media that the human inside the Rosalita costume was black herself! I have heard myself as it was directly said to me by more than one person of color that “by strict definition blacks cannot be racist“ now if that’s the case and you notice in all of this there has been absolutely no mention of what the racial/ethnic background of the performer in the costume was. My understanding is that she was also black same as the two girls and the mother who are claiming racism. Is the mother in this case, This Tamika, is she even aware that the human in the costume is black as well and if so what does that mean for all the claims that blacks cannot be racist and only whites can be racist. Maybe this will finally blow the lid off the whole ball of wax and get the discussion going about how racism does not discriminate you don’t have to be white to be racist and you don’t have to be black to be a victim of racism. I myself was jumped and stabbed and left for dead 48 years ago by 10 young people who were definitely not Caucasian like me and they had no problem openly telling the police they did it because they were bored and looking for a whitey to slice up, and I’m sorry guys but that statement as well as the crime committed against me associated with the statement they are both racist AF. I would love to be a fly on the wall to see the look on this Tamika‘s face when she finds out she’s accusing one of her own of being racist against her daughters. And if she wants to claim it was the character that is racist well guess what a pile of fur can’t be racist oh and by the way that character, that pile of fur is PURPLE! I am deeply saddened because the mother of those girls, and they are adorable by the way, that mother could have used this incident as a teaching tool a valuable teaching tool to teach her children how things should be and encourage them to treat people the way they want to be treated if you don’t want to be snubbed, then don’t snub others. But NOOOO, The only thing she did was the teach her daughters how to extort money from people using the color of their skin. I mean maybe the person in the Rosalita costume was just sick and tired and fed up of children long is free route however many times a day there’s a parade etc. the kids that get in there her face waving waving maybe she tends to gravitate towards the quiet ones to see the look on your face you know when Rosalita approaches them it’s quite possible it has nothing to do with color, and if the information is true that the performer in the Rosalita costume was also black, even though it is possible I cannot imagine a black performer intentionally snubbing only black children

Sesame Place ignored the mothers complain not realizing she had the video, when the video went viral, they immediately went into damage control. This incident shouldn't cost them too much, maybe a couple of million dollars in lost tickets sales.
Someone was trying to take a picture or asking to take a picture. He got confused, lumped the little girls in with the group he was wagging his finger and saying no to. Saw little girls in corner of his eye and thought they were trying to pose with him for a picture. Done same finger wagging motion and shaking of head. They’re not allowed to take pictures with guests. This is extremely easy guys. Take a breather. This has gone way to far. The appetite for something like this to actually happen is mind blowing. But I guess it shouldn’t be. We are in a time where being a victim is to be a hero. We as humans seek out hero’s to put on pedestals and then sometimes seek out to tear them down. We can do better! @@J.lynn1 That's why they had to remind the child to stay behind the yellow line I would also like to note, the mascot would have to be stupid to risk their job just to not hug a black child because of their racism. Lastly, the other situations may display racism, as I have said. That does not mean the person in this video is racist.
The kids had both their arms out showing they wanted to be picked up or hugged and they said no. That’s why they said no. They would not pick them up and so they moved on with their parade. Also, they said no to someone right before them. It wasn’t just them they said no to. Those kids wanted a hug or to be picked up and they don’t have time for that. Only the kids that wanted a hi five got a high five and the ones that wanted a hug they said, “no sorry can’t do that.” For them to think they said no as if “no sorry can’t touch you since you’re black,” is absolutely crazy. That’s why there is racism for making accusations such as this. The little black boy in red he didn’t see at all. His head was up the whole time.

When your playing one of these characters, it’s very hard to see, there’ only a small point at which you can actually see things, you'd have to look down to see small kids. What the person who played this character claimed to have happened, is that there was actually a woman with a baby standing behind these two girls and the character was actually denying the offer to hold the baby, since they aren’t allowed to do that. I think that it’s very easy to miss little kids when your inside one of these big costumes and I think this interaction was simply put, a big misunderstanding.

Yeah, it's amazing how quick a lot of people are to say there was no racism here, even though the first video that'd gone viral CLEARLY shows the person in the Rosita costume looking down at the two Black girls and waving "no" at them despite having acknowledged a White person before them. True, we don't see the first person Rosita waved "no" at in that video but there is another video that shows the VERY SAME character ignoring another Black child and another that shows a different character running over and knocking down another Black child.

I simply don't think this is "Blatant racistm". I think it is the kind of minor disappointment that hundreds of kids felt at that parade when they didn't get a close interaction with a costumed character.
I am a children's entertainer. I perform magic and twist balloon animals. I often work with costumed characters and know they have limited vision, and sometimes have to keep moving according to a schedule.
They make a lot of kids happy but over many many interactions, there are going to be misunderstandings. That's where the parents come in. Don't tell the kids that Albert the Alligator hates them. Tell them that he was in a hurry and maybe you'll see him another time.
I wager there were plenty of kids that didn't get hi-fives. You can't expect people walking a parade to accommodate every kid.

You comment all this with no proof that the person in the costume is black. The video is direct evidence of what the mother is saying. Your just repeating hearsay. Sesame Place already stated what happened is unacceptable. If the person in the costume was black Sesame Place would of shown that by now to react to the mother's allegations. They haven't done that. I can definitely understand the anger but this is not sesame places fault It's the person in the costume why not ask them why they did it ( who's in the costume)
Actually if you look online you find dozens of other videos in similar situations happening throughout the years
@@dariusphilly all I see are racebaiters trying to divide
Who takes 9 second video clips? Or does the rest of the video not support the claims so it was edited out?
notice how the media doesn't tell us who was the person inside the costume 👀 I'm willing to bet the person wasn't white.
It's a Hispanic character so I don't think a white person can wear it. That would be racist.
LOL Do you even know what the term "racism" means? It's the unfair or obnoxious preferential treatment of one race over another. Legally, it has absolutely nothing to do whatsoever with what race the offending perpetrator was.
@@musicoldies83 But some races cant be racist. Depending on the circumstances of course.
@@herzfeldji According to the liberal media, yes, but in reality, that's just not true.
Not the media but SP itself not wanting to reveal the wearer of the Rosita costume because they don't want to look like racists and to lose money from a possible boycott. I'm even MORE willing to bet the performer isn't Black.
Am I the only one seeing all the Black kids on the other side. Did he not hug any of the other Black kids? This country is getting more confusing by the minute.
