the deeper the water is the bigger the waves

The farther from 0,0 on the map (your base) is relative to wave size so as you go to the arctic the waves will amp up as you leave 0,0 BUT when in starter areas of map like sawyer islands or volcanos waves will not amp up as much sorry simple version is:
Farther from basic islands is your wave size
