They've got to be fully formed by day 59 so I would go ahead and give them some help. I feel like there is nothing to lose at that point. Best of luck either way!
Catherine, you have a beautiful face of a life well led. In truth, laugh lines are from blessings. Yes, your picture is much sharper. So glad you’re all safe and thank you to god for the Tonys of the world and their supportive families who help others. ❤
Yes, while male emus primarily incubate the eggs by sitting on them, they do also play a role in helping the chicks break out of the shell once it starts to crack, by occasionally moving the eggs around or gently pecking at the shell to assist the hatching process; essentially, they are present and supportive during the hatching stage.
So exciting to see those eggs rocking! I sure hope it all goes well! And dear sweet friend...4k or 5k the only thing we see is your beautiful, beautiful soul and loving, caring spirit ❤ So glad to see there was no damage from the storms! Hugs to you sister-friend! ❤
I saw a UA-cam video once about a man who helped his Emu egg hatched. First he drilled a little hole for air. I don’t know how much time past, but next he put a small crack in the egg. The Emu did try to make the crack larger but it struggled. He eventually made the crack bigger for the Emu. Eventually the Emu made it out of the egg alive.
The problem with doing that is if you do it at the wrong time, in the wrong spot, or make the hole too big you can kill the chick if you don't know what you're doing.
I know who your talking about I watch that guy because he rescues all sorts of birds! He is a miracle worker! I just saw in the comments "a chick named albert" is the guy!!
The shells are possibly thicker because the emus are getting supplementary feed which would have calcium in it. I would definitely be making an air hole on day 58.
Catherine, I'm feeling the eggs are too hard for them to hatch on their own. I agree with @Nana If rocking so strong for too long , they really will be too weak to survive. I have seen videos where a baby Emu had weak legs and could not stand or walk, but the owner, figured out a support to make for the legs to help with mobility until the legs did get strong and the baby was able to walk on it's own. Sending you lots of Love and Prayers for as many Emus that are eager to live a great long life.❤❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏🙏
Thankful the storms and winds didn't create any major damage for you. Keeping the faith the rock and rollers will hatch...your efforts are commendable! ❤😊
I don't know if you watch A Chick Called Albert, he hatches all kinds of eggs and I'm pretty sure he hatched something similar to an emu egg 5 months ago. He has assisted hatches, you might find something helpful on his channel. I'm pulling for you.
Catherine, maybe the 59th day is a day you can help by cracking the egg for at least one. If it’s makes it, wonderful, if not, none of them have gotten out by themselves yet. Nothing to lose really, and no blame.
I would definitely help these birds out of the eggs at day 59 or 58. I watched a video where evil eggs hatched but one had trouble so the guy helped it out and it did fine. All of the ones so far died and I think that is being showed to you

Amazing how eggs develop & hatch. Can't wait to see the babies! Also, bless you for helping with that emergency you were talking about. So nice to have support of friends in those times.
@ personally, no, but I have worked with someone who had when I was there. I have cut open many reptile eggs when the time was right and I’d rather be safe then sorry. If they still have a yoke, just leave them in the egg longer but have room for for them to breath. I’d rather intervene then know a chick suffocated or drowned in the egg.
I dont know if someone has already mentioned this, but, because domestic emu's are fed a special feed, maybe they are producing even harder egg shells. Maybe that is why domestic emu's dont reproduce and hatch very often. Just a thought.......
This is exactly right. Too much calcium in their feed causes the shells to be too hard for the birds to hatch and the sadly suffocate. But, there is a solution, there’s a channel called, A chick called Albert’, he’s an ornithologist and helps problem eggs hatch, he shows how to help Emus hatch from hard shells, I commented ages ago to Catherine to check his video out but I don’t think she saw it. Other people have commented about him in this feed too so I’m praying she sees the comments because I’m afraid all the chicks will suffocate if she doesn’t intervene.
I live in Australia and I read that the emu parent often breaks the shell for the baby to get out of, I suggest you should intervene
Oh wow...that's good to know. 😊
I wonder if Nugget and/or Goldie would peck on these eggs to help their chicks. Or if they are now 'strangers' to the eggs.
Please Catherine help these babies on day 59. Don’t let them suffocate. Crack the shell to help them. Your watchers are all on edge. ❤️🐝🐝🇳🇿

Glad you did well in the storm!! 🙏🙏 prayers for the emu eggs!!!
Please, please make a hole for air. They need help cracking those eggs open.
Have you ever hatched emus?
