eric i know this is does not mean much but you are my best chess youtouber cause you're an intriguing human being in a funny way and a fondamantelly nice guy
If only all YT comments had this vibe ❤
And he’s not bad at that chess thing either.
Yeah I agree
Exactly why he’s my favorite too
I couldn't agree more, Eric is awesome
Hi Eric! Just wanted to say as a fairly long-time viewer that this series is one of my absolute favorite bits of content you've put out. Very helpful yet still fun to watch.
You're so calm it's like watching Bob Ross if Bob Ross played chess.
It's like watching Bob Ross casually destroy people in chess
Happy little pawns.
he's beating the devil out of the opponents
Omg ur so right
Bob Ross played chess in Santa Monica, in fact.
i've been following you for a while, and this series is your best work. Thank you for showing and walking us through your thought process when playing these games! you're not the first to do this beginner->master speedrun, but you're my favorite to watch. I can't believe this kind of instruction is free.
Yes i agree, cant believe its for free, those so many lessons about chess
These longer games with thought process are very appreciated. Thank you!
Hey Eric, I'm just getting back into chess after a few months' hiatus, and I remember why you're one of the best creators easily! Thanks for all the fundies and instructive chess!
Amazing content Eric. Thanks for literally sharing your thoughts on each move you make, and the reasoning. Helps beginner chess players. Cheers from Florida!
Big yes from pillipines
Hey Eric, i am waiting for you at around ~1500 and then you can add your first loss ^^
Hey Eric, I’ve really been enjoying this series! Finally reached 1000 Elo yesterday
I swear the most difficult part is just knowing all the names of all the openings, variations, traps and everything. Everything is refined to a point that every single correct move will result in another named move. It's so crazy.
Yeah but most of us play at a level that it doesnt matter. Just learn an opening for white and black and you are good to go. These patterns and traps etc, come along naturally as you play and improve. Leave this stuff to the Higher rated masters that do engine prep for several moves in several variations. We ball under 2000
I’ve watched that first game twice now and it absolutely terrifies me. It makes me want to not just give up chess but to go find a cave and hide in it forever.
lol why
I *love* that the episodes are getting longer and longer😊
Hey Eric, I'm always happy to see how much respect you show your opponents, and finding teachable moments in all levels of play, cheers!
Love this series. I wait intently for each new episode. Very educational. Also quite humbling. Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge.
Pretty sure you've heard it before but your voice is so soothing, borderline therapeutic
I love this content. Im playing chess for a few months now and this really helps how to play openings and prevent big mistakes in the beginning of the game.
Goodbye, Twitch & Thank You Guys, Eric, I've been thumbs up for every episode, loving this climb. So many good insights made that many of your episodes through the series have been shared by myself & friends from the Coos Bay, OR. Chess Club! As Always Pal, Blessings from Oregon! .... Mike.
This is literally my favortie seeries on Youtubve rn. Always love seeing a new Speedrun episode.
Eric thanks so much for the content. This speed-run is so so nice :)
Hi Eric I just started playing chess a few weeks ago & I’ve been watching every episode of this speed run in coordination to where I’m at in elo & I’m about 900. You really do help out a lot! Appreciate these free lessons 🫡
Love the slow thoughts which are great for learning, easy to follow along and absorb how to think
best chess speedrun available on this platform ty for doing this
Thanks for that, Eric, A lot of fun, a very enjoyable beginner series even for the more advanced player.
This series is perfect, thank you Eric
I would've never seen that trap mentioned later on, its amazing how well the pieces coordinate and your explanation with how it works is so amazing. Thats just so amazing to me!
Eric, I've been going through a really tough time as of late and your videos/vods have been the one consistent thing I can count on helping settle my nerves and or bring me back to a spot of happiness. I mean this genuinely, I hope you're life is going wonderfully, keep up the good work.
PS. You seem to be pretty alright at chess.
Love these speedrun videos. Please keep doing them!
This is such a great series. Loving how you are demonstrating fundamentals appropriate to the opponent's level of play rather than playing dubious aggro lines (even though you could probably make fast work of the lower end of the rating ladder that way).
something about your calming voice allows me to process your lessons more than any other youtuber! thank you so much
In the first game, a Philidor, you reached a position that I often get from the Scotch. I generally try to castle queenside in these positions, but you went kingside, calling it “natural”.
This series is the best!! Tysm, Eric 😁 greetings from Brasil
I'm addicted to this series more than GOT, Breaking Bad, Fargo and the like. You get my drift! :P Perhaps let's also see how long you stay undefeated though. Cuz you'll discuss options for like over two minutes :D Now the lessons and tips are 100% amazing and paramount, I vote you keep us all rooting and enthralled with an undefeated record on this road to achieve Master with us all. As that'll be the cherry on top and superb tour de force entertainment for us.. all while learning. Winning! Oh and I second, you're def the Bob Ross of chess!
Those were great games to watch. Thank you
Thanks Eric. I. learn so much from you.
Love this series!
20:00 happy little bishop
Never forget Eric's rating at the start of this episode
Best format and time control
Watching Eric taught me to actually think through calculations and I went up a few hundred elo... (mind you still under 1800 but oh well)
26:04 Mildly disappointed that Eric didn’t go for Bc5 with “Oh no my rook” which is clearly better than mate in 3 without “Oh no my rook” 😢😢😢
17:36 Wow Nb8, Eric speedrun meets the Frankfurt airport :)
I loooooooove these episodes!
Awesome content full of lessons. Keep them coming! Happy Hanukkah! 🕎
My fav series
The last game was amazing. The opponent threatens mate in one but Eric threatens checking your king right now😅
These speedrun videos are so helpful to a struggling 900ish player... thanks!
I don't usually watch streams, but I enjoy your UA-cam content.
Well done
Really enjoying this series. I know the algorithm probably doesn't reward it as much as the click bait content so I'm liking and commenting to hopefully encourage more like it! Very informative and helpful for improving.
Ever since I learnt your London opening. I have never lost
Great vid as always! As a 1. d4 player I'd love to see you mix that in at some point. Maybe once your rating is high enough that your opponent will know what they're doing in a queen's pawn game.
Eric Rosen is freakin awesome!
Thank you
Hey past Eric! Looking forward to more future Eric!
Thanks Eric❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Rosen, stop making good videos, i am actualy watching them!!!
was bxh2+ possible for black at 22:07? Looks like a free pawn since after kxh2 qh4+ will pick up the rook on e1 in the next move
I like how Eric pretends to be thinking and considering each move when they're obvious and kind of automatic for a player of his level.
It seems like he puts a lot of thought into what's the best move to show us, rather than necessarily what he would play
nice speedrun
Eric always says, “No mercy”… but when has he ever shown mercy?
The Goat
22:51 curious if a collinear move works here, Rd6 with the idea of Rxd6 and cxd6 fixing the pawns.
"No Mercy Eric" title name for next speedrun
Love your videos! Please make the board bigger, it’s hard to watch on the phone.
I'm constantly running into people moving the A and H pawns to prevent bishops on both sides. They also immediately sac their bishops for my knights.
Thanks so much for playing a symmetrical Italian, I've been bad and playing Stafford instead of good Russian schoolboy chess and I usually end up losing when they decline and I'm in a sad symmetrical Italian and don't know what to do
"Not sure if it's a rage quit or internet issue..."
We all know what it was Eric haha
yei new episoda and first game against my country man yei
Hey! Around 7:25 could you have gone for knight takes e4 pawn and then pawn fork trick?
after Nxe4, Nxe4, d5 forking the knight and bishop, white plays Nxc5 taking your bishop and your down material
Sorry I am beginner. At 37:37 black queen to H2 is mate, no?
Oh no, my sleeping time!😂
I love playing against the Sicilian since I found the delayed alapin
34:09 why choose b5 & a4 when you know you can lose two tempos with the a6 & b5 counter? Thanks!
Literally the opposite of a speed run , but still love your stuff Eric
You make chess look easy..
Hey Eric I’m new to Twitch and can’t find your channel. Any tips?
22:09 isnt there Bxh2+ Kxh2 Qh4 forking the rook and the King?
Can someone tell me why at 30:00, it is not mate in one for black with queen h2
Idk why but in so many of these speed runs when you were in the middle game of game 2 that you moved your knight to the rim to attack the bishop in the center, so many players move their bishop back for some reason but it is still under attack from the knight & when it's taken they get stuck with double pawns. Idk why they don't just leave their bishop there & move something else
Sir please organize fan meeting!!! Would love to meet you and thank in person!❤
0:38 what a terrible chess rating, reminds me of that tragedy
Eric, the video chapters are broken, you should re-check the timestamps in the description.
Thanks. It's fixed now.
Ty..
I'm going to start calling my knight B8 moves "high level" LOL
7:06 why not take the pawn on E4? Because E5 wouldn't have enough defenders at the end?
nvm u addressed it :)
hey comment section, in 22:11 what about Bxh2+ ; KXH2. ; Qh4+ double attacking the unprotected rook? (i'm a mere 1000)
Although Kf1 just allows the free pawn, but at that level, unlikely to see the hanging rook.
If you happen to LOSE a game does your opponent keep the rating he won or are they refunded also?
Hello to Twitch 👋. Eric I remind you that 3 years ago, in December you promised in your UA-cam video to play Stafford in OTB tournament after 3 years or this year. If you can't remember, I can find that video. I hope your promise was serious
Didn't he play it in a recent OTB blitz tournament? Was it Vegas? Was against a female opponent.
over 40 wins in a row, Kramnik might start getting suspicious ...
Nice! A longer speedrun video!
"I'm not sure if it's a rage quit or an internet issue, but...okay, the game is over after 16 moves."
Once again giving the benefit of the doubt in a situation where I feel like at least 80% of humanity wouldn't. I realize that you're a genuinely decent and kind human being, Eric, but you know damned well that's a rage quit. 😂
No mercy,😀,👍
I got crushed the other day by a speedrun account. I didn't even know I was losing until the pieces got traded off the board...then I was like oh...I can't do anything 😭
seeing the rating makes me think that he wins both rooks in this match
Eric has a steam deck?
Please make rosengaming a thing!
You’re the Bob Ross of chess.
This is so accurate. I love it.
great lessons
HAI past Twitch
Why not Nxe4 at 7:11?
Yup, I was wondering that too, it's just a completely free pawn and Nxe4 is the top engine move.
38:00 can someone explain why queen to h2 isn’t just checkmate?
Black was in check!
@@eric-rosen ohhhhh I feel silly. Makes complete sense. Thanks for the reply and I’m loving the series!
