I learned from this video that Kripp invented aggro decks and streamsniping. Well done.
Actually he didn't invent either.
Kripp tried to play aggressive decks but as he said, it wasn't popular and didn't really work well.
The one that made a huge breakthrough in that aspect was Reynad when he came up with his first version of the Zoolock - the original top tier aggro deck. Which was so diverse it actually got to name that specific archetype.
IIRC it was of the very first decks to get wide recognition and that was during January 2014.
Before that it was Freeze Mage that had always been floating around, but it became a major player on the ladder when some player whose name I just can't remember right now, won Dreamhack in December 2013 with it. And before that well, it was somewhat of a sausage fest. The first big tournament for the game was the Blizzcon Invitational where as Kripp said people brought homebrews because well ... the meta wasn't figured out yet. Small number of players due to invitation restrictions, regular patches that buffed/nerfed cards. It was beta after all.
The first deck I remember kicking major ass with was Giant Warrior. A deck that basically revolved around letting the opponent damage you until you got to 10 health (or close enough) and then drop warsong commander and molten giants + faceless manipulators for an OTK.
As for streamsniping it didn't mean much then. You couldn't profit from it on ladder because how the ladder worked - it was basically the Starcraft system - they introduced the original version of our current system a few weeks before release (I think it was 1 month before. I am certain that March 2014 had the new system and was called "Test Season 3" but then the name suggest they had already made the change in January because that wouldn't fit the Starcraft system ...).
What that means is that what decided if you ranked up or not was your W/L ratio - if you had a pretty bad streak it'd take forever to get backup (I was playing mostly Overload Shaman at that time, and that was a list that was pretty much double or nothing).
Streamsniping only helped for tournaments ... but then since it wasn't really figured out it again didn't amount to much.
I remember it ramping up pretty fast though once the game released.
Tywin Lannister someone didn’t got the joke
@@tywinlannister8015 Be silent, you are dead. As is your sense of humor
Tywin Lannister MAYBE it was a joke...
@@whiskyfox7943 Sstill his comment was interesting. ive always wondereed why it was called a zoolock
Rest in Peace, Byron. You brought so much joy to the lives of everyone you touched. You will be missed.
Haha, I love how they change the screen capture every time the turn changes, before they implemented spectating
we need tournament mode...
It's honestly so much better this way tho
@@Synnipoe Absolutely. They are crazy not to use it. And yeah Amir it's disorienting. It's way more exciting this way, and intimate! I'm mad all of a sudden because I want this way!
this is superior to the current format
11 + 4 is math and I'm having none of it.
Hes dead dude..
Ahh, those were the times when I was still famous.
you are still famous in my heart man.
When I see Stonehillerino Defenderino Kripperino I’m gonna tell u so we can jump him
We should also jump that 2 mana 1/4 Gnome will show him who's boss silver back
Back in the days when if your opponent had 3 medium sized minions on the board you could afford to fireball face without worrying about immediately dying next turn
so basically the same as any brain dead mage played till last expansion?
and you had to worry if you were at 12 health bc you couldn't heal back to full using Zilliax
Reckful's hair is glorious there
I still remember when you lived in Greece. I watched 6 months of Greecestone until you moved. I even remember your vacation to the Maldives. Love your channel Kripp and Rania, keep on doing you
same here, I joined when he was playing in Greece. Fun memories.
11:28 this is what everyone is here for and the image the reckful sees in his nightmares
Back when Far Sight was, oh, wait. Far Sight is still the same card, PepeHands ?
FarSightterino Kripperino pls nerf too op
Back when we misunderstood you and thought you were worthless. We were fools then.
Far Sight was so OP back then, even today when the overall Power Level trippled, the card is still the same and fits into our meta.
it sucked, back when you would just pull something Classic/vanilla with it.
Shaman had to get OP first, that would come a couple of years later.
@@KnownAsKenji you underestimate the power LUL
The ORIGIN of a MEME!!! If you were born in the 90s, you must REMEMBER THIS GAME ->
#ClickTheKripp
at least he didn't try to coin 11 mana, in 2019.
Wait that happend? Do you have a link or Name?

Nobody skips Reckful missing lethal.
my hero
Aww leave Reckful alone, missed lethal has haunted him for 5 years now 😂
how do you feel now with him gone?
@@abody1233 Nobody were being malicious here bud.
Honestly it impressed me how respectfully you approached the missed lethal situation despite how big of a meme it has become. Nice video Kripp.
Watching those matches, especially the one between Kripp and Trump are what got me excited about Hearthstone, and also got me watching people stream on Twitch.
We need a classic hearthstone game
On the face of Jaina, Anduin and in his own portrait
Reckful I’ll miss you man... your impact will forever be felt throughout the gaming community. Rest easy now ❤️
damn dude, pure nostalgia right there. i remember watching this blizzcon. back when blizzard was still cool. time flies, cant believe 5 years have passed
(12:44) If you wanted to set Mage to 1 health, you could have traded in Argus, used Spellbreaker to silence Injured Blade Master, attacked with Shattered Sun Cleric to test for Vaporize or Ice Barrier, attacked with Injured to set Mage to 1 health, popped ice block with a minion or Holy Fire and use the other minions to clear off his board and protect Sunfury Protector.
Kripp won. Reck lost. Reck also lost hair. Kripp seems to have gained hair? Coincidence? I think not!
Hotel? Trivago.
Up 🤣
But Kripp lost hair too
Not funny at all
11 + 4 = ? 🤔🤔🤔🤔
Calum was the missed lethal
12
Its not funny dude hes dead
Back in the day when Chillwind Yeti was widely used.
🎵11+4, 11+4, You guys wanna see skill? Watch this.🎵
Not funny he is dead
@@GO-nf5bp I posted this back in 2019 when this video was uploaded while Reckful past away in July 2020. If its anything to go by, I'll be playing the 11+4 song so I can remember Reckful's cheerful side and the fun stuff he does on the IRL streams. He will be missed but UA-cam saying "Log replied: Not funny he is dead" in notifications won't. RIP
there it is, kripp finally join the 11+4 club, best timeline we just entered
You know that old school non-hearthstone video ?
Yea...that one
I love these kinds of nostalgia videos. I'm too young to remember that, wasn't that into HS back then. Still, please do more of those!
Was here when actual nl_kripp was an actual thing, and he fucking won a card game. Didn't know he was going to play it for the rest of his career though lol.
Still though, mad respect for Kripp. He was the main reason why I knew Twitch, and why I knew PoE & Diablo III. Still, watched this dude when he still had a lot of hair, now to only a few strands left.
Cheers Kripp.
He didn't win the invitational.
@@PH4RX I meant his first hearthstone game.
4 years later and it's still all he's playing only with even less hair
I still remember one of the casters say something like "Oh, Reckful doesn't have to beat Kripp here, he has all the time he wants."
Damn Reckful didn't stop to think at all at the start of that turn. He dropped coldlight before he even registered that his topdeck was worth 4 damage. This is why you see the pros roping on turn 2.
more of this yes! I loved hearthstone back in the days and I actually remember playing when mind control still had a cost of 8 mana instead of 10
I like how it's just 'a priest with some dudes' vs 'a mage with some dudes'. Not 'infinity broken priest' vs 'death knight stank mage'
I miss those times.
dude, your presentation skills are solid!! Much love from Romania, my man! Keep it up!!
5 years ago and still has the same amount of hair. I love you kripp.
The lone dislike is from reckful
reckful looking like the little lad in that photo
Your 🤮
Hey i had a friend who got in in the beta/alpha can't remeber which one. Ended up buying his key for 200DKK or 15,25 Dollars. Never regretted it.
That moment when hearthstone is so uninteresting nowadays compared to back then that you haven't clicked any kripp hearthstone video since this one for weeks.
Young Kripp from back in the day before he inherited One for All
Cant wait to see the video of Reckful reacting to this video !
2:52 **Reckful draws frostbolt**
Kripp: "ooh, that's an interesting card"
Uhm, no. He talked about the 5 mana Blizzard.
@@Powersd451 yeah I know, but it looked like he was making fun of Reckful not knowing what frostbolt is
And he still plays it... that's some dedication.
We need you to cast that game where the dude is playing Crusher Shaman terribly, but from the losers perspective.
Specifically Quachie playing Overload Shaman at HCT Oakland.
13:45 Why would kripp now not go for ice block + frostbolt + icelance + ping? That would set up for lethal next turn if kripp had no heals in hand, and from kripp's last turn it would really seem like he at least has no holy fire. Freeze and ice block together doesn't really accomplish anything?
In general, it would be a safer play to play iceblock + freeze. That play is betting no spell damage from hand, but provides lethal even if Kripp heals more than just hero power. Your move doesn't play around healing as much. I guess Reckful was guessing that Kripp was more likely to topdeck healing cards as opposed to damage cards. Of course, either way kripp was in a winning position because he had two cards that each provided healing AND damage.
did anyone notice that when Reckful grab the mouse his arm matches the smoke of the horde building on the board?
Look at the Kripparian professional gamer posture.
Old School Kripp videos back in town. YEEEES!!!
On the face of Reckful
16:05 the sorry emote nostalgia
Totalbiscuit casted this game PepeHands
I do miss our revered Lord of the Gimmicks. Nobody passed the torch ; ; so many gimmicks to be left untouched over these years.
Ah the good old days. I remember having such fun in the closed beta. I wish Blizzard would do something to the effect of Legacy WoW with Hearthstone.
*hearthstone tournaments shouldnt show us the players hands for max immersion*
I don't know why blizzard doesn't understand THIS ^^^^^^
I do not agree, I find that having knowledge of potential plays is a lot more interesting and can lead to more powerful anticipation when someone has a counterplay to a potential choice of the opponent in hand and you're trying to meld mind with your favorite so he doesn't play into it, I've watched years of magic the gathering in the way you like and would definitely have preferred having it the hearthstone way. Plus if you do not like it, you have always the option to obscure this part of the screen and mute the shoutcasters to avoid being spoiled and just enjoy what's going on on the board.
I dunno, I like thinking "What would I do here?" And see how close i was to what they do.
@@kaeldeath I think that they should only show the decklists and the cards already being played... That way you can still guess the hand and make assumptions to what will be the best play and still enjoy a powerful play not being spoiled.
I agree with ka pi
leave the wonder of mystery for when you're actually the one playing.
Anyone else get the 5 hour LEGO movie ad that loops the same 15 seconds?
I miss classic HS. I managed to get rank 1 back then in the first couple of weeks playing a zooish warlock deck.
No
Man, I forgot about 3 mana CoC and 2 mana frost nova.... SHEES this deck was good back then
Please more of this. I loved this
Enjoyed watching this vid a lot Kripp! Like your actual haircut more btw lol
Without knowing that you had the Holy Fire or Holy Nova in hand, he could have used Ice Block, Frost Bolt, Ice Lance and Ping, putting you from 16 to 8. If you had no heals other then hero power for the following turn, he could have Pyroblast and Ping, even though the ping wasn't needed, since you'd be at 10 Health. Ultimately, you had Holy Fire, and top decked Holy Nova so he was pretty screwed either way after the missed lethal many turns prior.
11+4=???

This video was fascinating. Thank you krip
I miss the old hearthstone so much
Man I remember this tournament I was in middle school and I’m in college now holy shit
never watched this whole thing. very cool. good video
I don't think I started playing Hearthstone until Naxxramus came out. So this is all foreign to me lol. Love the video though!
You should show a game of the warrior grim patron deck at its prime
That was pretty cool to watch. Thanks Kripp.
Hey Krip, I watched this back in the day. Could you review Trumps tournament win too? Also you were in a recent video from Friendlyjordie by accident. Apparently you look a lot like Tom Clift.
It's not a BIT of a missed lethal - IT'S A TOTAL MISSED LETHAL!
kripp had a hidden sorcerers apprentice on board it seems
This made me think of something.. With the high quality of cards being printed right now. I don't think the nerfs of most of these cards should stick, just to make free to play somewhat playable.
Because the cards you have acces to, don't stand a chance against the cards you facr starting from level one.
2013 - 12/10 2019 - 18/10
Kripp is so smart
I'd love to see a cast of the final game in the final vs Arthosis
2:3, surprisingly the top deck numbers would have been exactly the same if Reckful had done the lethal play.
Reckful’s salad is an absolute thing of beauty
Guys, lay off of Reckful, 11+4 doesn't = 14. 11+4 = 15, therefore, he didn't miss lethal. 🐸
never seen so much pre-nerf cards in one game ahaha
Damn... missing the old days
Kripp’s head has grown so much
15
You are welcome , Rania!
It tickles me that in 7ish years of HS Reckful missing lethal at Blizzcon in the most famous game ever played
we need more of these
wow, kripp really loves seeing people on the ground
he missed lethal in a tourment for some reason made me laugh of death ;D then i realized what the title was 11+4 ;D
did you make sure to tweet this at reckful when you uploaded it?
i miss the sorry emoit when you'er opponent use it you know you're dead
RIP Reckful!! :(
Wow I didn't even know Power Word Shield was a classic card..
I recently got back into hesrthstone, and I used to play in 2014. I still use a midrange shaman from back then and it kicks ass haha
Wait, Kripp's real name is Octavian
That is such a good name
So you never heard the tale of Darth Octavian the salty ;) ?
ComissarYarrick it’s not a tale the Kripperinos will tell you...
He could save others from slat, but not himself. Ironic....
Byron not so much.
He probably just forgot he had spell damage, it happens to the best of us
Everyone is picking on Reckful 'cause of this and Kripp just decided to join in, lol.
Reckful now hates you for bringing this up again :D
the battle of the receding harlines!
i just made a simple healing deck for priest in the current meta and people don't stand a chance
Kripp is a savage.
RIP Reckful
Missed lethal haha funny...I'll miss you Byron.
