Intended to be the last ever Crowded House gig, an odd one. Tickets made available suddenly and discretely, at a tiny venue, I don't recall this being advertised and I think the tickets were cheap too £11.50. They did 'break up' on stage but nobody in the audience seemed to get it, Neil and Nick were saying That's it, we're finished which I think people mistook for the end of the set. Farewell To The World came later and probably a better way to do things so this the last ticketed gig, the last in the UK, the last one indoor and the last with Peter.
Yes it was 95% fan club members 5% public which is why it was subtle and so few public tickets. Neil changed his mind instead of announcing it in the encore "too dramatic" he said something like "we are looking forward to the future with relish"...a few more ticketed gigs after Hanover. Lasal Club Spain, Amsterdam, Horseshoe Tavern Toronto and the 2 fan club shows in Melbourne at The Corner Hotel. So technically The Corner gig on Nov 21st last ticketed show. ($25).
Yes Mark and myself filmed it to capture Neils announcement but he thought it too dramatic... so I had to change my press release at EMI as it said something like " at tonights CH concert NF announced on stage that the band were breaking up".... lucky I hadn't hit send.
Beautiful song.....thanks so much Peter and Mark for uploading. I remember being in the front row at Neil's solo show in Nottingham 2014 and shouting out a request for this which Neil heard.....and proceeded to play on the piano
Without trying to sound morbid, I have this song in a list I'm compiling for when my time comes, even though I'm in good health. I had no idea he'd played it at Linda's tribute. Just moved it to the top of the list. 💜
@@sooznthro77 A friend of mine who passed away at the far-too-young age of thirty-three knew the time might be coming, and shared songs with people ahead of time. The one she shared with me was "Old and Wise" by the Alan Parsons Project. I'd highly recommend it. There's video of Neil's performance at that concert, as well as of "Don't Dream It's Over" knocking about UA-cam.
