  • As Tamil Nadu continues to attract foreign companies, the state's economic and employment growth is very bright. However, the current growth activities are not enough for Tamil Nadu's economy to reach the $1 trillion level within the next 6 years.
In this situation, the Tamil Nadu government is not only giving importance to each sector individually but also issuing a separate policy depending on this sector, so the foundation is being laid for long-term development. In this situation, the Tamil Nadu government has now targeted Ponneri.
The Tamil Nadu government has decided to set up a new heavy engineering hub at Ponneri, which is seen as a major hub for Chennai ports. The Heavy Engineering Hub plans to attract companies from major engineering equipment, energy sector equipment, heavy vehicles and hydrogen production sectors. For this, the Tamil Nadu Government is planning to set up a heavy engineering hub at TIDCO on about 653 acres. Located near the village of Kattur, this hub not only connects the 3 major sectors of Chennai but also the Chennai Ring Road and Chittoor Expressway.
As Tamil Nadu has set up a separate industrial park for footwear manufacturing and export and attracted the 4 largest footwear companies of Taiwan and guaranteed long-term exports and employment, it is now ready to attract the leading companies in the heavy sector.
After the acquisition of 653 acres of land for this heavy engineering hub to be set up at Ponneri has been completed, TIDCO companies have been invited to acquire the land and set up the factory.
The Ponneri Heavy Engineering Hub is seen as a major announcement as the Tamil Nadu Government's Investors Conference is scheduled to take place next week. While Tamil Nadu is already excelling in both manufacturing and exports, the state's manufacturing sector is moving towards the next step through the heavy engineering sector. The Tamil Nadu government, which today focuses on heavy engineering, will soon focus on industrial robotics.
