This is my design of a dual carriage system. I am using two electromagnets 12V 20N for picking up an extruder and for parking i disable the electromagnet so that the permanent magnet located in the Xaxis (left and right sideparts) holds the carriage in place.
While parked the extruder does not ooze, because an aluminium plate closes the nozzle opening.
This would be even cooler if your other tool wasn't another nozzle but a spindle so you can do additive and subtractive manufacture at the same time.
Lol good luck doing that on flimsy Prusa style construction.
Nice work!. Have you done any further development on this one?
looking forward to borrowing some ideas!
wow, I loved your design, way better than deiss, or other dual extruder out there, good approach on the selonoid em, thumbs up!
You were ahead of your time.
Love the work.
І одразу треба думати про чотири! А потім про 8!
Ідея - крута!
First were to i find the software for the tool change and second do you have the STEP files for this
this is really genius
genius and clean design!
i'm assuming you've been following the m-idex page now? haha i've been waiting for a bed slinger version haha any more development?
Hi Jelle, I'm pretty surprised with this! I have a question that I hope you can answer. Where did you put the ultra micro servo? Can I use another type of sevo or does it have to be that one?
Hello, I'm from Brazil and I follow your work. Congratulations. Hotend is V5 or V6?
This is awesome!
WOW! That is amazing!
Why do you need microswitch & micro servo in this design ? Are you still using it ?
almost as EPIC as the music!
very cool idea. Nice work
I've always admired this design approach. How's it holding up after 4 years?
Still printing with it as i speak
why there is endtop facing front on carriage ?
it is a endstop attached to an micro servo for the z calibration
I love it, how do the end stiops work?
where is your x-axis endstop? I mean how can you home the x axis? also x-belt tighting screw? o.O
The x-axis endstop is located left and directly under the rod, as shown in the 3D render the first few seconds of the video. On the backside of the left black carriage there is left some space on purpose for a gt2 belt spring tensioner that can move freely along the carriages.
very very clever !!!
Do you think you could post a parts list ?
Nice work!
Hi ! Where can I buy this dual extruder for my prusa i3 ?
Wow!
Cool!
AWESOME!!!, this design is very cool. I made it used your STL , but I don't know how to let it work. do I need to rewrite some code in firmware? could you give me some help or code? thanks.
Holy sh*t!
Holy.... fucking.... shit......
You are insane :D
