Fun thing I noticed and just think is really cool, the sword fight with Clayface is clearly an homage to the 1938 Adventures of Robin Hood sword fight between Robin Hood and Guy of Gisbourne. In that movie Guy was played by the well renowned Basil Rathbone, who due to his looks was often typecast as suave villains. I just think it’s interesting they combined aspects of at least one real life actor when creating the story of this Clayface.
Also fun fact Basil Rathbone was a phenomenal fencer, and did all of his own sword fighting in his movies. He was actually considered the best Fencer in Hollywood for a while.

ya. Almost as soon as they revealed Clayface's design for this show, there was speculation that this feels like a precursor for how Matt Reeves may handle Clayface in the next movie potentially. To kind of get people used to the idea of a more "grounded" Golden Age-ish Clayface first. A lot of rumors and theories that it will involve that character somehow, and maybe even be teased in The Penguin(there is a character called Eve Karlo).

As much as I enjoyed the Hagen Clayface in the animated series, and Alan Tudyk's version from Harley Quinn, I really enjoyed this version of Clayface. What they did with Batman's rogues in this season is intriguing. I also like how Batman is so cold in these early episodes, he has shut himself off from everyone include Alfred, or as he calls him Pennyworth. Hearing this and seeing this, Bruce reminds me so much of Damian Wayne. So, I could see why Alfred would accept Damian as Bruce's son, young Bruce acted so much like him.

    From Wikipedia:
The wall bars have many uses and are widely used in gyms and schools. They are used simply for climbing and for coordination skills, particularly in primary school education.[1] They are also used by more advanced gymnasts for resistance training, flexibility training or abdominal exercises. Gymnasts can hang from a higher bar with their back facing the bar and perform abdominal exercises, or hang facing the bar to stretch their back.[2] Wall bars are also useful for parkour training. They provide several different heights to jump to and provide an area from which to jump.[3]

That's not true. It is a period piece, just not historical. They use typewriters instead of computers at the GCPD, no one has cellphones and there are only rotary phones, and even the tech Batman uses that could be handwaved away as Bat-Tech is still all 40s-50s tech.
It's a fictional city. Just say it's real liberal for the times, or maybe in this version of DC's America, the timeline resulted in very different social politics by the 1940s.
It's no different than Batman: The Animated Series, where race and gender were not much of an issue in Gotham at all, despite reality. Sometimes we don't need social commentary, we need cool as fuck aesthetics of a time period and a fictional setting where we can wave away all the stupid bullshit that makes that time period suck.
