  • Hey Everyone~ :D
    So quick background!~^^*
We were born and raised in the States, moved to Japan 7 years ago, and yeah! This is our story~^^*
Get to know me! | • 50 Random Facts!
So this is a video about my sister and I`s experiences in a Japanese High school. We went to an International Jr/Sr High School called Ashiya International Secondary School. The school was labeled international because there were a lot of mixed race children which is unusual in Japan, but all the classes were taught in Japanese and a lot of the halfus (half japanese half other race) there could not speak English. Nonetheless, hope you all enjoy this video~^^* If you guys have any video requests don`t hesitate to comment down below~^^*
Have a happy rest of 2015 everyone!
    Xoxo,
    Steph

I think slide doors would be good. Less people would be hit in the face by doors.

I know about the hug thing. I cried and a friend hug me once. I feel awkward but it felt nice. After that I heard that when we recieve hug, our brain release the happy hormone that relax us and make us healthier. Well we Asian need to give hug more to friends and family!

RIIIIGHT idk why I always stiffen when somebody hugs me, but I like it! xD
Like when my friends hug me and I stiffen, they'll say "Oh, I'm sorry I didn't mean to be invading," and I'll say, "NO U STOOPID HUG ME BACK AND LOVE ME"
'Cause it's actually feel that good to be hugged, right. xD

In the Philippines, hugfests are daily occurrences, even with teachers. Some students even put their arms around our teachers' shoulders and hug them as greetings. Once, when we got our fifth grade teacher to sub for a our sixth grade class, we spent the period catching up, and some girls sat with her at her desk, one of them shared her chair, even. We Filipinos are very affectionate, it seems.

In the UK people hug looooooads! At least, where I live. I was born in South Africa and I also lived in Portugal when I was younger but, I've got to say, the UK is the most hugsie country I've lived in. At first, I wasn't used to it but now I love it. There's nothing like a good hug:) Thanks for sharing all those facts, that was super interesting! I can't imagine having to wear skirts in winter, sounds really cold.

Kirito Kazuto Or if you're Asian, like me. I'm actually surprised that in America, you don't need to stand, bow and greet when a teacher comes in.
We don't really have lockers in school either, with a few exceptions. Even your duster doesn't have the plastic cover, which makes me wonder, wouldn't your hands get dirty whenever you try to wipe the board?

I apologize if I have any spelling mistakes. In Estonia we usually hug if we haven't seen a close family member for a long time or if we have to say goodbye if they go away for a long time or we just don`t see them often. In my family we tend to hug a lot. I love hugs. They energize me :D We don`t hug with strangers only when we are close with that person. This was very interesting video. Thank you for filming it.

Like I would spoon my friends when I'm sleeping, guys or girls doesn't matter, hold hands, hug my teachers. Of course not everyone is like that but if people know each other they are usually very open ! :)

Here in Norway, people give hugs. Of course it depends on personality, but it is common. Even for guys, if it has been a long time no see, and I'm talking about a full embraced frontal hug. I think my Japanese girlfriend are starting to enjoy hugs as well, even in public. And btw. thats how I found your channel, because I've been watching a lot of Japan/Korean related UA-cam videos after I met my girlfriend. She has gotten me interested in eastern Asian culture. I'm originally from S.Korea myself.

In Germany everyone hugs their friends. As a greeting, as a goodbye, to comfort, to just snuggle or whyever. You can hug whenever you want. I like to surprise my friend and hug her from the back. But it's not like we are intrusive or something. There are people who don't really like being hugged or even touched.
But I could never live without a hug sometimes.

im an exchange student in japan right now and in my french class there suddenly was this new girl and it turned out she was with the same organisation as me in mexico. She is super nice and when we said good bye she hugged me and i was so thrown off guard because i never received a hug in japan before and on top of all she was my senpai and usually all students at my school are more respectful to senpais then to teachers. she now always hugs me when i see her.

    Hey guys :)
i will try to answer the ,,hugs in Europe" question: it is very common to hug your friends, Well at least where i am from (Berlin in Germany),hugging is more common under girls. guys will also hug each other but not as often as girls, they will mostly do fist bumps or high fives but it think it depends on their friendship . There are a lot of turkish and Arabic kids (i am half turkish and half arabic too lol) and kids from other cultures in my school and they are a lot more chill when it comes to hugs , you will even See a lot of them giving the Person they are greeting kisses on the cheek(girl to girl and boy to boy)
the conclusion is that Europeans are a lot more physicaly than Asians
    i hope i could help ^^
PS:sorry for the long Text and mistakes , i hope it was understandable :)

In Mexico hugs don't matter really, even when you get like a small spelling bee or math contest award you get hugs from the teachers in charge of that contest when you get your diploma, we get hugs for everything, lol. Also, I just found your channel and I'm already subscribing.

We do hug in Europe, but at least where I come from (Czech republic) it isn´t appropriate for teachers to hug the students (even if they are upset) or touch them very much at all! We mostly unconciously keep the personal distance, you know the "zones", it isn´t common for teachers to enter your intimate bubble. Except in school photos and such :)
    Thanks for the video.

i think you should say more about it
like about obento, its really big tradition, its not only like "parents make it for children, and in usa they would buy", i think it should get more informations, whole tradition about preparing food, to make it look really like piece of art :)
the same about air condition, its not "they dont have", they dont need it
hugging? i think its connected to thing that in japan people tries to not show any 'private contact' public
but still i like the video and was nice to listen someone so lively
3months more and ill be able to meet my friends again in japan ^^
ps. you are pretty cute, you know? ;)

they do give hugs in Europe, i fact in our school it was more common for girls to greet each other with a hug instead of a kiss which is considered more "European". And frankly I love hugs, but I always feel self-conscious when I do it and I tend to stiffen up, so people around me started thinking that I don't like it, while I'm sitting here like "GIVE ME SOME LOVE PLS ;("
