Probably the most realistic F-4 I have ever seen. I have seen those birds up close and personal when they bring them out of the boneyard and this build shows all the staining on that chalked up paint. Bravo Will!
That, no shit, looks like it was pulled out of AMARG and flown to Holloman. Killer work, man. Dude, reflecting back on my question about pin washing and told you about Flory's, don't I feel like an idiot. LOL. Anyway, my son and I enjoy your videos. This is just an amazing model.
Looks great. I was crew chief on F4's C,D,E and RF 1966-1970. Still can tell when one is making a turn. Very distinct sound. Good luck on your treatment Will. Prayers for you and family.
Outstanding weathering work! I was a Crew Chief on B52's and B2 Bombers 20+ years ago in the USAF. This is the first time I've ever seen a plastic modeler really, truly capture the look of faded, weather/sun worn, and mottled paint. I've done a little bit of oil work on HO train cars and it's really easier than people think, though I use Turpenoid rather than Turpentine. Same results, less caustic. I'll have to search your videos to see if you share any more specifics on how you apply your paint layers and effects.
Will, amazing job, fantastic subject, I had exactly that same issue with my canopy in the 1/72 eurofighter from Revell, when I dry fitted with the lower plastic plate from the kit, it cracked the canopy, I was going to live with that, when I decided to dip in Future (Pledge floor care) and than the marks desapeared, than I sanded the hell out of the lower piece so it will not put stress in the canopy anymore, and I am very happy with the result, the thing with canopy is that you have to change the surroundings to fit it, or if the case is just in the boundary you can sand the clear part, but you should never try to BEND the transparent part, other thing that helps is to use PVA glue, that way you can remove it if needed, without much drama, I learned in the hard way
Hi, Will. My name's Weston and I recently rediscovered scale modeling, which was a hobby of mine throughout my youth. I really enjoy your meticulous build of this F-4! In regards to the custom brass stencil, I believe a tool with the exact function could be created from vinyl film. I own a vinyl plotter, which is essentially a computerized knife, capable of cutting a two-dimensional shape at any size into vinyl film. Vinyl films are also produced with varying strengths of adhesives. Perhaps you've considered this product, but I thought of it as a less expensive option.
Wonderful model. If I remember correctly , the little spike on the right side of forward fuselage is the angle of attack (AOA) probe. It provided input to the central air data computer (CADC) and the pilot's indexer lights. Almost 40 years, but I can still remember many little details.
Supercool plane Will. I hope your treatment goes better than expected. My dad was a para back in the 80s. I wonder if that treatment could have helped him. Godspeed
Another fantastic build. I won’t wish you luck but If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster And treat those two impostors just the same; you’ll be some person. Best wishes
Will, First and foremost, good luck and I ask for god to bless you while on your gamble in Panama. I have seen a little bit of the models you have shared with us and, while you are not yet a "master". trust me little brother, you are well on your way. (grins). You ARE an Artist! You have much yet to learn - but, the difference between where you are now and that ever elusive "master piece", is as short or as fine as the humidity at the moment of ...... Will, This bird talked to me too! You did a fantastic job! I myself am leerning more and more towards oil paints. Yes the drying time sux, and I wonder if them still releasing their volitals under your clear sealers might lead to unforeseen issues as it ages. Also. I thought the dry brushing of the exhaust "cans"was less then "a symbolic representation of the prototype". It looked rushed. I know you could have done better,-and you spent extra money on those... IMHO this B.1R.D., this P.1G. ( they really did call them that 'cause they could carry at least some of EVERYTHING) is the best you have shown us of you talent so far. Never sell it Will. I would have tried to marry her too!! :)

Lol whoops. Still looks absolutely amazing though. Great work

After seeing the progress, I know hands down this is the best finished model i have ever seen.

Honesty, the best weathered Phantom i ever seen, pity you dont show how you did it, perhaps your secret.
That sharp pointy little spike is the angle of attack sensor for the aoa indicator. ( @16min)
Good luck in Panama, I hope everything goes really well.
That is one worn out aircraft!......well done sir
Great Rhino!
High speed low drag chief!!!🏴☠️
Happens to the best of us..
Great work Will! Will you be doing a paint / wheatering tutorials the way you did this airframe? I really want to see!
Fantastic build ... but it's a Drone ? then why the Pilot ??
They often fly with pilots. This one was taken from a photograph where a pilot was flying it on its decommissioning ceremony day.
Thanks Will
Isn't that an QF-4 ? As far as I know, orange wing tips are common for that version... thanks ! Great work, btw !
Fantastic work. By the way, i've been waiting for two years for you to build the MFH Brough Superiour. Did I miss something or what ?
unbelievable.
