Is the CompTIA A+ certification worth it?
If you’re planning to work with computers and mobile devices, or looking to advance your career in the IT industry, the CompTIA A+ certificate is a certification to have.
This certification equips you with all that is needed to serve as an entry-level IT technician. It does this by exposing you to the essential areas of IT such as; information security, network administration, computer repair, software, Operating Systems, and troubleshooting of mobile devices as well as desktops.
The great news is that there are no prerequisites for this certification, and it’s globally recognized and trusted by employers around the world.

Exam Information:
The exam is categorized into two parts:
• CompTIA A+ 220-901: This covers PC peripherals and hardware; networking and troubleshooting; mobile device hardware; and network connectivity issues. Passing score is 675 on a scale of 900.
• CompTIA A+ 220-902: Covers configuration and installation of Operating Systems including iOS, Windows, Linux, Android, etc. Passing score is 700 on a scale of 900.
Note that you have to take exams from the same series to earn the certification. You cannot earn a certification if you mix exams from different series.
The duration of the exam is about 90 minutes and has a maximum of 90 multiple choice questions.
It is conducted in English, Japanese, German and modern Spanish. Each exam would cost you 205 USD and the certificate’s validity expires after 3 years.
The certificate can be renewed for an annual fee of $25. However, you need not pay Continuing Education fees, if you plan to take up a higher-level certification with CompTIA.

CompTIA A+ Certification Exam Objectives - 220-901:
The prime objectives of the A+ 220-901 series exam is to validate your knowledge and skills on the prominent areas of the IT industry, which include: hardware; networking; mobile devices; and hardware and network troubleshooting.
CompTIA A+ Certification Exam Objectives - 220-902:
The domains covered in this exam include Windows Operating Systems; Other Operating Systems and Technologies; Security; Software Troubleshooting; and Operational Procedures.
Conclusion:
Obtaining an A+ certification also boosts your eligibility towards participating in training programs of established tech companies like HP and Microsoft. Obtaining this certification is equivalent to having 500 hours of practical experience and thus boosts your credibility to perform on the job.

My cousin have been telling about this for about a year, and he's telling me to study for this. That it could change my lifestyle... he wasn't explaining it clearly for me. Hello Walter. No, it does not beat Computer Engineering. When you complete an engineer education, you get the title "Engineer" and you also get the benefit fo getting the same salary as an engineer which is higher than someone who simply has a CompTIA A+ certificate. Just think of this as a Bonus certificate to add to your CV.

computer engineers require a lot of math. its a totally diffrent field. you learn to program with computer engineering. comptia a+ is just to get you that entry level job at the help desk. you work your way up with experience. this field at its highest levels is more focused on network security, network engineering, system administration, cyber security. etc.
