To answer your question about Galaxia, she's the villian of the final arc. Sailor Moon is divided up into 5 major chunks, with a different Big Bad for each - Beryl/Metallia (Sailor Moon, Crystal Season 1), the Death Phantom (Sailor Moon R, Crystal Season 2), Pharaoh 90 (Sailor Moon S, Crystal Season 3), Nehelania (Sailor Moon SuperS and the first episodes of Sailor Stars, Sailor Moon Eternal), and Galaxia (the rest of Sailor Stars, Sailor Moon Cosmos). There is a Bigger Bad that ties all five of them together, but it literally only shows up in the final minutes of Cosmos/Sailor Stars.
You're actually very on point with it being Power Rangers like, or rather Super Sentai. The creator originally did a manga with a single Sailor Guardian, Sailor V. She was approached by Toei Animation to adapt it and they asked to add more characters and she decided to go for an all girl Sentaj format. Sailor V became Sailor Venus, the one with long blonde hair in yellow.
You won't really see fanservice in Sailor Moon, but there is nudity. As you may have read, this anime is Shojo, which means that its target audience is teenage girls. The author shows nudity in her work for purposes very different from morbidity or "fanservice". With the nudity of her characters she shows freedom, sometimes fragility, fear, security. If in childhood all boys wanted to be Goku, girls wanted to be Sailor Moon. Usagi (Sailor Moon) is a crybaby, clumsy, scared girl, but still with a kind heart that made her stand up in every battle. The anime from the 90s is good, but it has many chapters that never came out in the manga, just to make it longer and sell more, many find it boring because of this. The 2014 reboot was more faithful to the manga and with less chapters.
Tried Sailor Moon a few months back. It was not to be taken lightly. In one of the season Masked Tuxedo almost didn't appear and the in-story reason for that was dark and fucking heartbreaking, man. Don't let the saccharine openings fool you.
TBF almost all seasons have at least some section where Mamoru/Tuxedo Mask isn't there. Cause he's either evil, hypnotized, dead, taking care of Chibiusa and the cats or he forgot who he is.
in case you haven't noticed, the opening of Sailor Moon S and Sailor Moon SuperS was somehow applied with the 1st Opening of Sailor Moon Cosmos. given this, they've used the original song (Moonlight Densetsu). with the 2nd Opening of Cosmos, the theme song of Sailor Moon Sailor Stars was used. 😊 Throughout the video, I was laughing because of "Moonlight... Midnight... Sunlight" 😂😂😂 Besos!!!
@@dashingkevs3295Beso, i just learned this a while ago. the 1st opening version of Cosmos was sung by the people who dubbed Sailor Moon, Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, Sailor Jupiter, and Sailor Venus, the original 5 girls of the show. the 2nd opening was sung by the characters who dubbed Sailor Star Fighter, Sailor Star Healer, Sailor Star Maker, and Princess Kakyu, the people who were with Sailormoon at the end of the Opening Credits. 😅
The OG anime's (1992-1997) music was partly inspired by the 70's and shows like Charlie's Angels. It kinda makes it timeless imo. :D Haven't they made a compilation of the endings yet? I'd love to see people reaction to those as well. :,D
Huge SM fan here, yes, Sailor Moon is more like Power Rangers but with different group of villiains per season, Sailor Moon R, S, and Super S are much like Dragon Ball Z, GT or Super , continuations, but Crystal is a remake with more fidelity to the original manga than the 90's series, nostalgia fans prefer the original even with all the filler and changes, but i prefer Crystal because a read the manga first and i loved it, uts pretty grusome there, i feel like it is a female version of Knights of the Zodiac (Saint Seiya) with a front very romantic and pretty and girly but with violent fights, phylosophy, people burned alive, flesh-eater demons, suicide-depression, incest, time-travel, experiments in children, etc, magical girls can be pretty dark even with all that cute and fluffy stuff (Sailor Moon starts as a crying baby but becomes wise, brave, and OP af!)
Try Gatekeepers, Revolutionary Girl Utena, Wedding Peach (series and OVA), My-Hime and Rayearth. You should also try mga 80s cartoon OPs. A lot of them were done by TOEI and other Japanese animation studios like G.I. Joe, Transformers, Visionaries, M.A.S.K, Pole Position, Thundercats and Silverhawks.
I grow up with Sailor Moon and I love it so much. For me is very interesting to see how young people react to it :) Loved your video. To clarify, we had 5 seasons during the 90s (Sailor Moon, Sailor Moon R, Sailor Moon S, Sailor Moon SuperS, SailorStars), then in 2014 they rebooted it with Sailor Moon Crystal that covers the first 3 story arcs and it's much closer to the original manga. 4th and 5th story arcs were covered with 2 films (each one divided into part 1 and part 2) called Sailor Moon Eternal and Sailor Moon Cosmos (last one came out in 2023) The 90s version took a lot from the super sentai formula (Power Rangers style) but it was quite significant as an hybrid anime (generally speaking made for girls but with a lot of boyish elements such as adventures and fighting) and because showing a lot of modern elements such as gender fluidity, queer characters, same sex parents and so on. Also, Sailor Moon story is all about moon and night so the sunlight doesn't really fit :D ;D
@@dashingkevs3295 some of them were already in the original manga, such as the lesbian relationship between Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune, the fact that Sailor Uranus is an intersex or that they adopt a child together at some point and raise her together with a third woman, (Sailor Pluto) More were added in the animated series, such as queer villains or the 3 Sailor Star Lights who in the manga were girls dressing up like boys but in the anime they were actual boys morphing into actual girls, (one was in love with Sailor Moon in both versions) At the time is was also quite empowering since you have so many female leads, all different personalities, and the sailor uniform that in Japan was often seen as a generic element which was uniforming young Japanese girls became a symbol of power. They actually show villains or their main minions in the 90s openings but if you don't know the characters is difficult to notice. Basically each story arc has a big bad (in order: Queen Beryl of the Dark Kingdom, the Great Phantom of the Black Moon Clan, Pharaon 90 and Mistress 9, Queen Nehellenia of the Black Moon Circus, and Sailor Galaxia) Sorry if I write too much, I love Sailor Moon and I really enjoyed your video :)

It's a shoujo anime, so it targets young girls - you won't see many fanservice there Crystal and Cosmos seems to be a reboot/remake, as Crystal's 3 seasons seem to cover Sailor Moon, R and S, while Cosmos covers Stars - not sure where SuperS fit in.
I can not recommend Sailor Moon Crystal enough!! Not only is the art style more fresh and modern, it also follows the (canon) manga almost perfectly (minus the horror elements and brutality of some of the fights, but it’s still good)! The 90’s adaptation is so far off from canon that it’s an alternate universe. Not to mention the filler episodes. 😅 You were right about a couple of things in your analysis of the openings! I’d love to see you react to this series!
Only the main one is Sailor Moon, the other are sailor Mercury, sailor Venus , etc. Each represents a planet By the way , the music on the Portuguese op is the ending and its really good And you should do a Mermaid Melody op video , pure nostalgia for me
Here’s something to keep in mind older anime really didn’t put much into their openings and endings usually they just stuck with one song for multiple seasons
