this song came into my life one winter 10 years ago. i had the biggest crush on this girl i worked with. never did work out. i remember leaving my friend's apartment one night a little stoned and a little buzzed. i was finishing up my last year of college. i was driving through the moonlit winter streets of a town of about 250,000 people. a large city, yet still small enough to where 11:00pm on a snowy weeknight kept most everybody inside their homes. i was making the 20 minute trek back to my apartment where i lived alone and had the next day off to do absolutely nothing, something i rarely get the opportunity to experience now. the friendships i shared and dreams i had back then are a distant memory, but still remain sharp in my mind when i hear this song. i remember the empty, snowpacked streets as i cruised comfortably home. the car heater beginning to kick in on my cheap ford escort, and the crisp winter air entering the cracked window that i exhaled my cigarette through. there may have been a few late night travelers sharing the streets with me that night, but my memory tells me i was the only one out there. it pains me in the most pleasurable way possible to hear this song. i come back to it every couple of years to remember the young, twenty-something kid that fell in love with this track. i used to imagine a certain future for myself when i listened to this song. maybe somewhere out there in the realm of possibility that future exists. for now i just hang onto the memory that this track provides.

a memory of being in her dark bedroom in new york, quietly lit by changing colors, blue, purple, pink, green, emitted from the two cheap speakers and a green salt stone in between them. you talked of the memories you had with this song and how it would make you sad but eventually i think you rewrote those memories with our times together. we would lie in your bed, high on something only you and i know, lying next to each other, sometimes holding hands, sometimes talking about whatever was on our minds. i remember looking at you standing by the side of the bed and trying to figure out what kinds of things were going on in your head, what was keeping you from letting all your walls down with me and vice versa. all i knew is your past was heavy and i wondered if i could see you be happy and free of it. all we had were a few days during the times i visited, a long greyhound bus ride, high to pass the time, and a thick winter coat to bear the cold new york winters. a part of me still loves you and always will. this song will always take me back to us and the love we shared. i hope you're happy now. at least i was a part of your journey and i hope i helped. im drunk off some cheap wine and im allowing myself to be broken hearted over you for now because i know i have to keep pushing and moving on. to be the person both you and i believed in. i miss you right now and i hope that time will heal all of our wounds, both yours and mine. im sorry i couldnt be as social and outgoing then as i wanted to be but understand that it was not an easy phase in my life either. but thank you for the memories. they will always be with me. 보고싶을때 여기로 올게.
