Think of it this way, slenderman could very well be the same creature in the other folklore such as Der Grossman, I for one actually agree with this. BUT just because the demon is referred to as Slenderman in one story doesn't make it a ripoff, it just makes it another interpretation of the legend. They are the same story, but someone encountered the monster not having heard the previous legend, therefore spawing another version of the same legend. Of course slenderman is going to have lots more fan art and fan stories just because it is more modern. No need to spread hate about it gents :D
