He gave the Yankees the right to have the last opportunity to match an offer from other teams. He would've been a Yankee if they matched the offer the Mets gave. It wasn't that he didn't want to be a Yankee, he just wanted the most money, and good for him, he got it.
I think the blown 5-0 lead in game 5 of the WS made Soto leave the Yankees aren’t title contenders and Soto was a major part why Yankees even made the WS judge disappearing in the postseason and nobody else stepping up changed his mentality also noticing what the Mets did with much less then the Yankees it’s a no brainer I can be the highest paid player and still be in NYC and play for a WS contender

Juan Soto just screwed the Yankees and went with the money, he would've had a better career in the Bronx and playing with Judge, especially Yankee stadium was perfect fit for him with the short right field wall, but the greedy jabroni went with the money and screwed the Yankeees that invested their farm for him.

Sign pitching and stay FAR FAR away from Alonso. He’s a terrible fit for this team. Doesn’t hit for average, extremely slow, over reliant on power and when it’s not there, he’s useless. Absolutely terrible player fit for the Yankees.

NothingToPointOut24. As a Yanks fan it’s definitely a big loss. I don’t think it has a seismic shift in how the teams perform over the next 15 years. But in the immediate aftermath it’s difficult. Biggest reason is the rest of the free agency market is not good. Bregman?!? The guy stinks. Alonso? He’s a Boras guy….and he’s definitely not someone who you want to shell out money for.

yea, me too. This kind of monster top-heavy contract into one single player is not a good way for a team to build and become better. It IS a good idea if they want to sell season tickets in the pre-season and jerseys.....but not *BUILD* a team.

The Mets are Jets... let us see what happens. I don't hate the Mets, go for it, but no pitchers... and lindor instead of Judge ? cmon... Good luck Soto, enjoy the money, ask Cano how that works out.
Even as a hitter Ohtani is a better offensive player and hitter then Soto, Ohtani has a higher batting averge, War, OPS, more HRs and baserunning Soto stole 6 bases caught 4 times, Ohtani stole 59 bases caught 4 times. It's an absolute joke, a one dimentional player getting more money then an Ace pitcher that just went 54-59 and led every statistic in the NL and won a World Series Championship.
Well said Mike! I agree with everything you said. Things will really hit the fan if the Mets win a WS with Soto. That will sting like no other. This is a great day. It is great to have rivalries. Too much fraternizing in sports today. Everybody's friends with the other. This is a real situation here. Yankees need to move on and get their roster right and stop with the HR or bust ball. That does not win Championships.
This signing of Soto Mets will put in question how the Yankees do business and how they’ve been doing business whether it’s how they’re building a team or just wanting to make playoffs and make money!

One of the dumbest contracts in MLB history. You'd have thought the owner would have learned when they overspent a year or two for no results. After 5 years this contract is going to stink to high heaven! MLB needs a real salary cap.
That was an interesting comment since Mets had a wonderful season last year and now have a dynamic young superstar that just made them the BEST TEAM IN NY HAHAHAH
@@robertcolacino7310 Uh, ONE YEAR before (2023), they failed miserably, and Cohen had to break it down (remember Verlander and Scherzer?!). Maybe they can have a Bobby Bonilla/Soto day in 2033. You guys in NY can fight it out all you want, but the Mets still have to get by the Dodgers.

I like the Yankees chances path to the WS in the American League ( if they get players) then the Mets getting to the WS , Dodgers are stacked and if Healthy going into October won’t be easy . Funny with how awful the AL is, Yanks could sign Walker or Alonso and one of the remaining SP's and still be the favorites Joke league. But Cohen is now the King of NYC.
@@Snowboarder16 Not saying he is. Just saying that I'd still rather have the Yankees path to the World Series over the Mets path. The NL is a bloodbath. The AL blows. Yankees probably fall a little below the Astros right now in terms of favorites, but that gap is nothing. Go sign one of the 1st basemen and SP's and they'll be good enough to win the division again and probably get to the WS only to probably be exposed there again.

@@johnrigs6540judge will be 50 by the end of Soto's contract.
Ha.
Wrong, it is about a man interested in taking the highest dollar offer.
@@Am0ment0fB
lol yup
It was GREED
They need 3 pitchers, back afta dis
George Steinbrenner would have never let this happens.
This isn't the 20th century, George Steinbrenner would have lost just like his sons. Cohen has enough money to buy the Yankees and Dodgers while keeping the Mets. Face it, the Yanks aren't the financial juggernaut they used to be.
Baseball in general has a lot more competition it’s not 1930s
Alot harder to get good free agents these days for the yankees
Ur right
Mets baby….Let’s go!! Early Christmas present for all Mets fans. 🔥 ty Uncle Steve.
WELL AT LEAST SOTO IS OUT OF THE AMERICAN LEAGUE AND THEY CAN DEAL WITH THE DODGERS. GET WELL SOON MIKE
Hooe you feel better Mike. Lets go Mets!
I think it's a win for the Yankees.
Yea, Mike sounds like a sleeper Mets fan. No Yankee fan would call our storied history “tradition in a dusty book”
Copium
yea, me too. This kind of monster top-heavy contract into one single player is not a good way for a team to build and become better. It IS a good idea if they want to sell season tickets in the pre-season and jerseys.....but not *BUILD* a team.
Cope harder, kid. Cohen has limitless funds to build. 🤴 of NY baseball wallets. Face facts.
Yankee fans have turned into those fans who say “glad we didn’t spend that money” ahahahah … oh man. Yankees offense is now going to fall off of a cliff without Soto. He chose the Mets for not much of a financial difference. Yankee fans it’s okay to admit it sucks lol 😊
“Seismic” such a great word. Definitely not used enough in today’s world.
KING COHEN!!!!! Woooooooooo!
Never going to win with Cohen, I guarantee it!! Remember this as you lose season after season
You're doing a fantastic job! Just a quick off-topic question: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How can I transfer them to Binance?
With the Mets luck, he has the potential to lead the team to the DL
Bobby Bonilla all over again‼️😂
If it puts the Mets over the top, all worth it
Bonilla 2
Congrats to the Met fans. It's been a long time coming. I just hate the darkness that surrounds this deal
Mike always gets it right. I started listening to Boomer and Gio, their analysis was off base. Long Live Mike
Mets. Yankees. Soto. Who gives a crap. The comments in the live chat are absolutely BRILLIANT. OMG I'm crying my eyes out. A real LOL.
Rosie O' Donnell knows her sports. Good job!
CANT WAIT FOR FIRST METS SLUMP. PRICELESS
lets go mets but i have all the respect in the world for aaron judge. class act, humble and a future hofer
That does not win Championships.
lets Go Mets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Came from the Mets cheers to see Mikey's salty tears.
This signing of Soto Mets will put in question how the Yankees do business and how they’ve been doing business whether it’s how they’re building a team or just wanting to make playoffs and make money!
Was surprised that Judge had given him space at the beginning of this....maybe he already know how Soto was leaning. Will be interesting to hear the internal post mortem on this one from a yankee pov
So here's the Lineup ! So Far ! Nimmo , Lindor, Alonso, Soto, Vientos, Alvarez, Good Luck trying to beat that.. All the Mets need is pitching !
I always come back to the Pope for the actual rub!! Thx Mike
Mike as life long Mets fan I want to thank you for those kind words about the Mets organization and Mr Cohen, the DUNKIES are finally flying!!! 🎉😂🙏🏼👍
The contract is totally ludicrous and I will not be going to any Mets or Yankees games 🎯💯. It's unacceptable and professional sports have really lost the room.
@@robertcolacino7310 kiru would have been celebrating like a nut if the yankees signed him for EXACTLY the same contract.. and everyone knows it :)
@robertcolacino7310 lol key word best team in NY, paying someone 765 mil to only be the best team in NY is a bad decision
@ you can’t be that well I see your not the sharpest tool in the shed
Seismic shift lol. No it's a very good ball player going to a team. That's happened many times. The Yankees never got every player they wanted that's just not true.
This contract gives off deshaun watson vibes.
Bobby Bonia
@@ilyakats54 Correct, actually a better example.
Wow, as a lifelong Mets fan, I've waited for this day. The Mets signed a major superstar that the Yankees wanted. It was always whoever the Yankees wanted, the Yankees got. Not anymore.
WFAN IS A WASTELAND! PLEEEEASE COME BACK (part time) The AM radio waves miss your rants. Also..Mike is the biggest secret Mets/Jets fan
Not disappointed at all. Soto is overblown-no one is worth that much money. The Yankees can now spend that money and build a better team. Soto guarantees the Mets nothing-Montas and Holmes starters😂. And Judge is better!!!!
Wah Wah Wah
This is the default response through all social media platforms
But why couldn’t you have signed him and continue to build a better team? There’s no salary cap in baseball.
@@DTMBYLEZ70 the Yankees do not have as much money to spend on very good players as people think. With today's salaries 50 million a season might get you 2 very good players certainly not 3.
Ok Mets beat the Yanks with a better contract , great . I’ll miss Soto. Fit great in the yanks line up . I know the yanks can still win without him if they get the right players and spend wisely . I like the Yankees chances path to the WS in the American League ( if they get players) then the Mets getting to the WS , Dodgers are stacked and if Healthy going into October won’t be easy . Mets need to spend more
The problem is, outside of Soto there aren’t any attractive players available
Francesa: "I" this, "I" that.
Funny with how awful the AL is, Yanks could sign Walker or Alonso and one of the remaining SP's and still be the favorites
Joke league.
But Cohen is now the King of NYC.
You can’t be king without a ring. He has to win first.
Alonso ain’t no Soto dude
@@Snowboarder16 Not saying he is. Just saying that I'd still rather have the Yankees path to the World Series over the Mets path. The NL is a bloodbath. The AL blows. Yankees probably fall a little below the Astros right now in terms of favorites, but that gap is nothing. Go sign one of the 1st basemen and SP's and they'll be good enough to win the division again and probably get to the WS only to probably be exposed there again.
LGMMMM!!!
3:33 Mike what’s a “dunkey?”
