For those of you who like to skip around, here ya go! Olympic Hero Elizabeth Swaney(00:06) | Blac Chyna’s Sex Tape Leak (3:28) | Trump Moves to Ban Bumpstocks(6:59) | Pennsylvania Gerrymandering (7:56) | Mitt Romney Accepts Trump Endorsement (11:57) Enjoy! See ya tomorrow... ;)
It's the same concept as IT companies paying people to search for bugs and exploits, you need to know the faults in your systems to actually combat and fix them. I don't know how much Elizabeth's exploitation was meant for her own personal gain, but either way it was actually good that it was done this way, now they'll actually change things.
don't think she is only one. There are atheletes who switched cuz their home country is too competitive, or some just really want to walking in the ceremony parade. maybe the just want special samsung Note 8 that's handing out to atheletes.
I'm not mad that she made it to the olympics through a loophole what got me concerned is that she got selected and didnt think "Hey maybe I should learn at least one trick to do in the olympics"
well rather than 'incompetent' its even if you aren't 'talented'. It takes competence to play the system like that, its a special mixture of effort and observation.
I'm all of the above, impressed that this actually worked, proud for going through with it, but kinda angry cause most athletes at the Olympics literally trade their life, future, education etc to be there so it is not very respectful. Although the latter is more an issue of the system, not hers.
When the banks trolled the american people and gamed the system, we all were rightfully angry because they essentially stole money meant for the people. The only thing different in this case is she did it to fewer, more niche people.
Here's a recipe for glass of water: 1 glass I forgot the rest so here's another copy paste meme: Don't know if you read this Phil but you have to retract what you said about Logan. I just watched 'Matty Love 2 debunks' which proved Logan faked the suicide with an actor. You were wrong! And I want to help!!
That first story is truely brilliant!!! Her mindset and dedication to get there is what makes this fantastic! It would've cost her and loved ones a small fortune to attend all of those previous competitions allowing her to qualify. Whilst I feel sad for anyone attempting to get into the Olympics who have missed out by this... I still admired her dedication to her dream.
I'm from Massachusetts, and let me tell you, Mitt Romney is the most inconsistent, wishy-washy politician. He was our pro-choice, pro-gay marriage governor and then completely changed his tune when he ran for President. Also he is definitely a robot.
Pennsylvanian here. Just wanna say I'm totally in favor of the new changes to districts. Although I am registered Republican, me, my friends, and hell most of the people I talked to knew our old system of districts was complete shit. I'm glad to see this change because it feels like it gives many here in PA a fair representation.
The Mild Javert though they should not do it like they did to Illinois, where Chicago was split into a billion districts for democrats. Those little blue dots of cities could cause the Republican downfall
PA Independent that leans Democrat here. I agree. It would have been nice if the legislative branch could have come to a reasonable conclusion without the state supreme court having to do it, but since they couldn't, at least it is now more representative of the population.
Phil this video was absolutely ON FIRE TODAY, the flow, and the ideas presented, and the passions here... absolutely brilliant! Please stay in your beautiful vortex & continue to present these beautiful motions to the world!
Well don't mind me... *scurries away to see what obscure sport with a weird rule book I can weasel my way into.* I just want one of those fancy RL opening ceremonies outfits. Wish me luck.
As a snow sports enthusiast, I'm not thrilled with Swaney's story. Good for her for pursuing her dream, but the system should NEVER have allowed her to compete. It's an embarrassment to the sport and to all the other athletes who couldn't compete because the level of competition is so far beyond just riding the half pipe. I'm even skeptical of her statement that she "trained for years" to reach this point in her career because anyone with half-decent coordination could have done more than she did with just one year of real training. For someone who truly cares about the sport, it's frustrating to hear the commentators patronize her run down the pipe while there are SO MANY other deserving athletes who actually train that were not allowed to be there. I see this as a major fault of the organization and only sheds negative light on the level of intensity in this sport from those who do not follow it closely.
I would barely even called that a loophole, Swaney just played smart. If she had somehow screwed over someone more talented by cheating the system I would say... hey man that's not cool. But she just did the damn thing. And she was 100% straight with everyone with what she was doing and what her intentions her. More power to her.
I didn't mean it like that, J. Sometimes, I get overwhelmed with news/media that it's hard for me to follow along and keep up with everything. Phil's coverage of stories helps me keep track of the news without feeling overwhelmed. That's all I meant.
I agree with Jentrix, certainly because i'm Dutch, so my English isn't the best and when it gets broken down like this, it is easier to understand. This however, has nothing to do with my opinion on a topic.
J Colton Why are you so worked up about my comment and reply to the point where you feel the need to attack? Judging from the playlists saved on your channel about Carl Jung and the Lion King, GTA5, a Jordan Peterson video, a running instructional video, and a crossbow video, I’m going to assume that you’re a high schooler who just found out he’s an “intellectual.” And rather than letting others be, you feel the urge to lash-out and bring others down when in actuality, you have unresolved anger issues. I just want you to know that we are all here for you. I am here for you. You do t have to hide anymore, my son. Take my hand and we can walk through the darkness together.
Hellion Shark Hahaha, maybe. But I think there are some things that just aren't worth bragging about 😂 Glitching one's way into the Olympics being one of them.
I feel like Mitt Romney here is just being polite. He's not saying, "I accept your endorsement." I feel like that response was more,"...K. Thx but these people elect me not you." I feel like that was the best way for him to not lose Trump supporters and keep "Never Trump-ers" in the same breath.
erzan And that's exactly the reason why people knew there was something wrong with the laws and system, which is why it's necessary for these things to happen in order for change to occur.
...How is it that Elizabeth Swaney is a hero? Played the system? Hustle hard? She went down the half pipe at the slowed pace that wasn't crawling against people who trained relentlessly in competition with themselves and their peers. She's out of Oakland, but represented Hungary 😅
I am so fuckin glad I found your UA-cam channel awhile back. You are my one consistent source of news. No matter what, I always make time to watch your videos every day and stay updated. I also love reading the comment section and hearing all the different perspectives from your audience. Thank you for your hard work ❤️
So as someone who used to be in the military, it confuses me why there would be any form of "push" for banning bump-fire stocks. I say this, because I know how they function, and that they're not only wildly inaccurate, but it's a product you don't actually NEED to do it. It can literally be done with a looser grip on the weapon, pulling it into your finger. And the way he talked about it, he chose his words carefully. He literally just said that nothing is being done that isn't already done/in place or is already deemed illegal. All he said he directed them to do, is to "check again" if the orders that are already issued still are making sure they still prevent a device from turning what it's fitted to into a machine-gun (that is a class of weapon, not a style of weapon, it describes what the particular weapon is capable of doing with a single actuation (pull and or release) of the trigger). That is an order they already have and are already following, so that doesn't change anything at all. Secondly, the "memorandum" is also already in place, again that changed nothing. It's already illegal to use devices that modify or in any form modify a legal semi-automatic (one round per actuation of the trigger) to become a machine-gun. This is what folks seem to negate to learn; Knowledge about the topic at hand. Anyone who understands firearms and corresponding function etc, already knows how they function and operate, and that it's already illegal to modify a legal weapon to become a machine-gun. A device to "simulate" does not modify it, in the exact same sense that someone with a fast trigger-finger does not modify a weapon because they are able to use their finger rapidly. All Trump did was reformulate what's already in place to make it sound like it's new measures being put in place, to appease the ignorant that don't already know it's in place.
Fangs, exactly.. a train of thought like that is just irrelevant to any form of civil discourse. Particularly in a case where even buying an accessory like it is more effort than actually just doing it with a loose grip even. It's a gimmick product to begin with
The Elizabeth Swaney story is awesome. She used the rules to her advantage, worked for it, followed her dream and it didn't hurt anybody. I don't know, made me smile anyways. It was fair play and the rules will probably change after this, but it worked!
I think Mitt Romney was probably just being polite. If people wanna act like he's some kinda turncoat for not getting into a Tweet war with not just the President but Donald Trump of all people, then people are just looking for more reasons to throw a fit.
Veteran - Pro gun, I think restriction on bump stock is reasonable. We're not supposed to have automatic rifles, and while this doesn't make it an automatic, if used with skill it sure can be. I don't think a gun ban is reasonable at all, but this decision is for me.
I disagree. Automatic rifles are a go-to weapon for resisting a potentially tyrannical government. Handguns seem to, statistically speaking, do the most damage according to the FBI. But a rifle might be a better choice for a discriminatory, ruthless, and controlling government. Just look at North Korea.
George Kaftan except we would stand a chance. They cant use jets and tanks and drones against us, collateral damage would be too high and the rebellion would boom. Even if half of us took up arms 165 million armed people, that would be the largest fighting force on earth
+George Kaftan You're right, we wouldn't stand a chance with bumpstocks. We'd use proper fully automatic weapons. Bump stocks serve no legitimate combat purpose, hence why militaries do not use them. They're a cosmetic item. They're a toy that hasn't hurt anyone. Just because ONE dude had a gun with a bumpstock on it doesn't change anything. He would have had the same number of victims without the bumpstock, as seen by literally every other mass shooter.
No you can't give a inch. There banning something that i can replicate with my belt loop. Its very well worth it to have a belt fed full auto gun if you can afford it.
I'm thinking he's still anti-Trump, he was just saying thank you for the compliment. Just because you don't like someone doesn't mean you can't be cordial.
When you described the situation with Elizabeth Swaney I thought of Eddie the Eagle and the Jamaican Bob sleight team in the 1988 Winter Olympics. Before judging her or any other athlete in the same situation think about this quote from Pierre de Coubertin the founder of the Olympic Committee: " The important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win, but to take part; the important thing in Life is not triumph, but the struggle; the essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well."
Exactly what I thought, and is why I give the girl as much respect as I do Eddie, follow the dream and remind people what the olympics is actually supposed to be about, taking part and unity, not just winning and elitism.
I partially agree with this statement. I feel the spirit of the Olympics is to compete, to struggle, to try, and I believe in your examples those people did struggle, they did try their hardest. I do not believe Elizabeth struggled or tried her hardest, I believe she worked a loophole in the system and has done damage to people like Eddie how maybe not be that good but try their hardest.
With the Swaney story, fair play to her for doing it, you can't blame her but at the same time I think (especially when it comes to sports) there should be a level of respect and fairness. The point of the olympics is to show off the top athletes in the world doing what they do best and not someone who just cheesed their way into it
Never understood how the United States of America still lives in a political system where gerrymandering is done so openly and obviously. How do you let legislative and executive branches have such power over the election map? I know it’s not the perfect solution, but wouldn’t it be alot more transparent/easier to have a commission or non-legislative governmental third party (like Election Canada) take care of elections maps
I 100% agree (and I'm American). Given how much we cherish our free speech, right to vote, etc, we should be more alarmed when those rights are diminished. It's impossible to prevent corruption if we continue to allow the majority party to manipulate it, so there should be a nonpartisan third party in charge. But of course, politicians aren't going to want to give up that unfair advantage, so how can we change it?
Chloé Arsenault The answer is apathy. People simply don't care or are not well informed in the "inner-workings" of politics (i.e. redistricting) so they don't notice the instances of gerrymandering.
Alex C I'm in Illinois and I notice the gerrymandering every election. I wanted to vote out Aaron Schock for since the minute he was elected. He wasn't my representative at the time of the election, then he was and next election rolls around and he's not. This pattern continued until he was exposed for the crook he is.
im kinda torn on the Elizabeth issue as she did stay within the rules, but those skiiers and tbh athletes in general who work their asses off but still arent getting in would just feel like their hard work wont pay off unless they manipulate the system. what she did wasnt fair but i suppose she does deserve to be there since she got in. just maybe not as deserving as everyone else who played fairly.
Tangina Taiyeba any of those more qualified people could’ve done exactly what she did and got in over her. She exposed a flaw in the system and that’s what is incredible
Working hard is not the only thing you have to do. You have to be smart about it also. So what, you wanted her not to take the opportunity she had coz theres another athlete she has never met in like another country trying to get in?. People if you have opportunities seize them, its your life not theirs
I'm not really feeling Elizabeth Swaney. You need to have a certain level of respect for the event and the athletes who, for the most part, worked their entire lives to be able to compete amongst the best in the world. She got into the olympics solely based on the fact that the sport isn't popular yet amongst women. I'm not a fan of skiing but if some talentless guy found a loophole to play in the NBA finals I'd be pretty pissed.
You dont seem to know what the olympics were originally about before certain elitism crept in. I forever shall favour those Eddie the Eagles of this world whom try to remind us.
Daniel if anything the country not having a competitor sort of makes her more legit in my opinion. Because the olympics are just the best of every country and if your country has no one to represent them, than she is just the best the country has.
I think it would be one thing if she finagled her way into the army or navy, but the Olympics are socially constructed for our entertainment. It's like the difference between a bad educational documentary and a bad movie. One fails at its job, whereas the other doesn't necessarily have any specific purpose in the grand scheme of society.
The NBA example isn't the best. Teams choose their players to look for the best and there is a lot of pressure to win for everyone involved. Some random guy playing there is hurting his teammates, coach, fans of the team, etc. What Swaney did din't hurt anyone, she didn't really took anyone's chance to compete or anything
I'm pro-Second Amendment and I have no issue with the Government banning aftermarket parts that modify a gun to work in a way where it mimics a banned gun.
1-Machine guns are not banned. 2-If you think they will stop at bump stocks you are a fool. 3- you are NOT pro second amendment. Shall not be infringed!
sadly most people on your side of the issue arent as reasonable as you....when you evenmention banning certain weapons, they immediately react with "they wanna toook ooooorrrrrrrrrr gunsssss!"(read that in the south park "they took orrrrr jobs!" accent), and usa will keep suffering from mass school shootings as a result.
Sorry to all other 2nd amendment advocates, but I agree with OP. I think that we need a new level of gun ownership that consists of "extras" being only for people that go through a rigorous militia program where it opens the doors for getting full autos, high cap mags, bump stocks if you so choose and so on. Basically if you can pass the grade and maintain your militia status you have unlimited access, if not then you can get standard mags and minimal attachments. Needs to be pretty rigorous so we don't get nutty bars and anyone that can't keep up the status for maybe a year isn't eligible for another year or something... If you can't make it, then maybe you shouldn't own assault rifles, LMGs and 50cals but you can still own the same guns available now just with a few more restrictions. This is somewhat based on the Swiss firearms laws, but only loosely. That being said, I wouldn't expect it to ever happen and I'll still gladly own firearms as I do now.
Thumbs up Phillip. Literally almost double the subscribers than Stephen Colbert. You are the man. Keep up the great work. Remember your roots, and don't forget.
Something similar happend 4 years ago with famous violinist Vanessa Mae www.independent.co.uk/sport/olympics/revealed-how-vanessa-mae-fiddled-her-way-into-skiing-at-the-winter-olympics-9854822.html
What's even funnier is that she had tried to represent Venezuela in the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games in skeleton! hahahah www.parkrecord.com/sports/liz-swaney-strives-for-olympic-spot/ Now that's what i call dedication!!! lol
Bob Hacker It's messed up that she was able to get in, but at the end of the day, with the amount of effort she put in to get in, and the fact that it's only one person who managed to get a relatively insignificant spot is pretty humorous. If you are honestly upset by something like this, you really should rethink your attitude.
Isn't Mitt a known flip-flopper anyway? I seem to recall back in his bid to become President it was pointed out that he catered his views to please his base and went back on pervious things he had said...am I wrong?
Sorry, but I'm pretty sure she didn't get into the Olympics to impress you, or anyone for that matter. She wanted to be in the Olympics, so she got herself into the Olympics. Life dream accomplished.
I've been watching Philip DeFranco since 2006 and I wish this man had more subscribers. He's one of the original UA-camrs that has found a way to do something he's so passionate about and he's been finding a way to stay on the internet for the longest time. Does it bother anyone else that a man isn't up in the 10s of millions of subscribers? I just hope he never leaves.
I have no issues with her playing the system to get there. My issue is that she spent that long and apparently never once learned a single trick. She couldn't at least do one trick multiple times? Live the dream sure but at least put in some effort when you get there.
I have a neighbor that does kayaking and from New Zealand. There was a big event near our city and there was a spot open on the New Zealand team. He was invited. He had one trick and only one. Everyone was very supportive of him. Got a second chance a couple years later and had 3 tricks this time. He was a little embarrassed the first time but happy and excited. The second he has much more pride. I just don't understand how you don't learn 1 trick.
Seriously this. She learned nothing in all that time? She put all her effort in gaming the system but obviously not practicing. It's like that gold star "did you even try?"
I am a Republican in PA, the previous map was AFU and should never have happened. The new map is better, but "seems" to favor the Dems. It IS a step in the right direction, but far from the best it can be.
I know it favored Reps, very much favored, which is one reason I disliked it, as a Rep. The other is about 5 miles east, west and north of me is/was a different district. School Districts were split into 2 or more districts, towns were split and more. A near perfect definition of gerrymandering. It is much better, but only time, and an election or two, will tell how much better.
I appreciate you, and people like you; people that can be fair in the face of being favored. I'm an independent from PA, so I'm purely angry due to the unfairness of it all, not the political party it skewed favor towards.
It was definitely fucked. But, I will give them points for not only passing it, but keeping it that way for as long as they did. Like Phil said, they played the rules HARD.
Gerrymandering is where a party redraws the lines that divide districts in a way that is meant to grant them more seats. This means that politicians can essentially choose their voters, instead of the other way around.
Your response to that woman getting into the olympics through a loophole (which meant someone who actually was very talented and worked very hard to get their didn't get in) was: "don't hate the player, hate the game... Elizabeth didn't create the rules" 2:50 and then you saluted her. But then your response to the Blac Chyna story was: "just because you do something that makes it possible for someone to do something horrible to you doesn't make it ok". 4:36
I agreed with you about Elizabeth UNTIL you said she paid for it with online donations. The second she used anyone else's money to pay for that farce she shit on every other contestant.
Generally pro-gun here and I've always wondered how bump stocks remained legal. It's literally designed to circumvent the law by making a legal weapon act like an "illegal" weapon (technically you can own fully-automatic weapons, but it is MUCH more expensive and strictly regulated). While I'm sure there are plenty of responsible gun owners who think bump stocks are fun, I don't think anybody is going to put up much of a fight on this one. It effects barely a percentage of gun owners.
I literally don't know how to respond to that. "you don't even need a Bump Stock to make a gun shoot faster." Faster than what? You aren't going to pull the trigger faster than a bump stock bounces. You can correct me if I'm wrong, but you either have little to no experience with guns or you're trolling.
Someone who spends all her efforts gaming the system to get to the finish line of the Olympics to NOT EVEN TRY. It's bad enough that many other countries already assume this is the United States norm. I fully support those who want to revise the rules to avoid this happening again.
Cocktails & Consoles so, your complaint, is that someone who has done something you will likely never do, did it in a way you wouldn't do if you did. Maybe you should work on you and not worry about what others do.
The fact that she found away to do it is impressive she won't be able to do it again and she lived out her dream of being there not winning just being there and I think that's kinda awesome but also bad because she beat out someone else that should have been there
My problem with Swaney is not that she gamed the system, its that she didn't even try in the Olympics. If aspiring young athlete that maybe wasn't good enough for the U.S. Olympic Team wants to use their ancestry to make their dream come true, okay good for them its that she didn't even try during the event meaning that she prevented some one else's dream for no reason.
I don't think she prevented anyone else. I obviously didn't go looking through her competition history but from what Phil said, it seems like she's bad enough that literally anybody who really wanted to be in the Olympics would've gotten her spot. Also remember she only made it because of some injuries. I think anyone at all who would have done even remotely better was either already in or was one of the injured athletes. I think the only problem is that it's bit disrespectful to the country, the sport and possibly even the other athletes.
youuploader 1 Obiuslvy yes some athletes did get injured but she wasn't the only other skiier but I just would see a last place athlete that would of tried is what I'm saying.
youuploader 1 Again my problem with the situation is she didn't try. Unlike most people who are focusing on the loophole stuff, like Phil said her journey is interesting but my real problem is she didn't try, I would be mad if she qualified normally and didn't try too
Ya, I agree with that. It seems she never really planned to try. She just wanted to be on the world stage. It kind of takes away from the sport as a whole
I think it's kind of hypocritical to applaud Elisabeth Swaney for playing the rules in order to get what she wants, then condemn the Republicans for doing the exact same thing, and then question why Mitt Romney accepted the President's endorsement (he accepted it because it would help him get what he wants: win the elections). I don't agree with Elisabeth or with the Republicans. What they did is cheating their way to the top. Endorsing this kind of behaviour is simply not good. I thought we (as humans) are trying to improve ourselves, not trick the system just because we can. At least that is my opinion. I'm all for fairness.
Well it's fucking not because as he stated, there's a difference, god learn what hypocritical means -_- or better yet, learn to listen, since he clearly stated he has a dislike for both.
Geraldo iz cool I do see the difference and I am not saying it has the same consequances, I'm just saying that it's the same thing they did and it's not fair. Being part of the Olympics is a great honour. It means you are talented and worked a life to get there. Maybe I wouldn't have had a problem with her if she actually tried to do something when she got there, but this way it feels like she was mocking the other competitors. And why would you dream just to get to the Olympics without doing anything there? Couldn't she just buy a ticket? But again, this is my opinion and I understand if not everyone agrees with me and that's fine.
TheBrownTown007 I've listened to what he said. You don't need to be angry or aggressive. I just stated my opinion, not challenge you to a duel. As I told Geraldo iz cool I know there is a difference of outcome, but that was not my point. And he did not say he dislikes what Elisabeth did. He said he admires it and I just don't see anything admirable in this. It's not like she did it for a cause, she did it to have fun and, in my opinion, she kind of mocked the hard work the other participants put into this by showing up and not even trying.
As someone who has done a bit of a "rules lawyer" myself there IS a difference between "The letter of the law" and "The spirit of the law". This is why we continually fine tune rules and include explicit stupid sounding examples for clarification.
+JB JG The difference is that in this case Liz Swaney displaced no other potential occupants for the role and hurt no-one else at the Olympics doing this. At worst she cost Hungary's tax payers a plane ticket and maybe the accommodation costs, *at worst*. Voter suppresion negates the bedrock of democracy - people being able to influence their government. Suppress a group of voters and you can completely ignore their wants and needs. Technically qualifying to attend a sports event, even a high profile one like the Olympics, without realistically having the skill to do so just isn't bad enough to justify genuine outrage. A change for Hungary going forwards? Yes, but you can still enjoy the absurdity of the situation now that it's happened in the absence of any lasting damage.
Wow so much anger in here. The way i see it is that putting aside personal feelings about these things; sport is a luxury i.e. a thing that you do and spend resources towards when all other concerns are met; meaning that if the sport is not an actual part of your survival process then it is not important it is purely a personal and emotional offence reflecting how much importance you give to pissing contests. Where as the blatant and deliberate manipulation of free democratic citizens violates the Spirit of the law i.e. the idea and intent of an idea that the law resulted from; for personal gain or political gain while resulting in some actionable short term results that are desired by active parties will often and usually result in long term harm to not only the person affected but the system by which they were effected, this can be seen currently and directly in the political state that the united states is currently enjoying. It is my opinion that Phil may understand this and seems to me to be reflected in his statements.
So who decides what a better chance at life is ? are you assuming that Hungary is a terrible place to live? anywhere that isn't where you are is a living hell? are possessions what makes life worth living? are you really making a valid point forged from an accurate and comprehensive understanding of another's point of view or are you just arguing for the sake of your sense of personal self worth? While i don't think that it is a great idea for people to use sport as a method to achieve an amount of financial stability without some sort of education some people don't have (or don't feel they have) many other choices, though if we as a species could actually work together we would have a world worth fighting for but instead we just have a world full of fighting. If we all try to solve more problems than we make we could move forward, we don't have to be perfect we just have to try.
The first thing Elizabeth Swaney brings to mind is Eric the Eel, from the 2000 Olympics, who had never seen an Olympic sized swimming pool before the games, and was the only one in his heat to finish, albeit with a time too slow to qualify for the next round. It makes you wonder if those people really should be there, occupying a position that could be filled by someone more qualified, and hence more deserving to be in the competition. As for playing by the rules, look no further than Trevor Chappell to see how bad that can get. For anyone not familiar, Trevor Chappell is a retired cricketer from Australia, who is infamous for the underarm bowling incident in which he bowled a ball by rolling it along the ground to the New Zealand batsman, when NZ needed 6 runs off the last ball. A legitimate overarm ball would have made it possible for Brian McKechnie (the NZ batsman facing the ball) to hit a boundary for six. There was nothing in the rules against bowling underarm, but it was perceived as being unsportsmanlike. So sure, if you want to play according to the rules, do that, just don't expect it to get much appreciation from those who truly love the sport.
Yesterday I was the victim of revenge porn being leaked on the internet with 10,000s of people viewing it, not to mention people in surrounding cities. It was the most awful situation as I could do next to nothing about it. That video is going to be in possession of people forever not to mention on other places on the internet. Just because someone was mad and wanted to get back at me. It is an awful thing and people need to really think twice before “getting Revenge” as this could impact my whole future.
Ellie Scott sorry to hear that. I'm amazed no trolls have asked for a link yet. Maybe the internet is changing for the better.... Probably not. Hope your issue gets resolved.
TheCherroes I found out through people I went to school with years ago and people I know from my city telling me and it was being sent around, before you know it everyone has it and the link is being shared around. I had no control over it
Zach Arbogast Revenge porn is a very new issue and laws aren’t really fitted around it and it’s something that’s very hard to get justice. I’m definitely working on it though as this could affect my future job prospects.
Ellie Scott Probably shouldn't go on UA-cam and mention your nudes exist no matter what. You're not gonna try and go to 4chan and seek their help tracking down the jerks so I wouldn't recommend going to any social media site and mentioning your going through it.
I would expect that, based on what mitt said in the response, he doesn’t give a fuck about trumps support but doesn’t want to slap the hornets nest by being rude directly. I mean he basically said “thanks, that’s great... but I’m really more interested in the support of the people I would be representing thanks”
The main problem with Trump's statement about bump stocks is that he said that he is looking to ban devices that turn a weapon into a machine gun... A bump stock does not turn a semi-auto rifle into a machine gun. It changes the way the weapon is fired by the user. Instead of pulling the trigger with your finger to shoot a round, you push the handguard of the weapon forward and the recoil pushes the weapon back. It will continue to be pushed forward and knocked back by recoil until you stop pushing the weapon away from you. Honestly, bump stocks are dumb but what they did was turn a dangerous method of firing a gun into a relatively safe one. You can achieve a similar effect by hooking your thumb into your belt loop and pushing the weapon forward with your finger on the trigger. I think I side with Democrats on this though. Bump stocks are stupid and cause you to fire very inaccurately which is incredibly unsafe when firing a weapon like this. Hell, our own military rarely uses full auto because they know it's just a waste of ammo. But we need to stop spreading misinformation about these things converting AR-15s into machine guns and just be honest about what the hell they do.
What I meant was they rarely use the full auto capabilities. They have the option but are trained to use full auto in bursts rather than just laying down on the trigger.
@maxdrags3 Depends on what you want to accomplish, if you want to suppress an enemy position then yes, tossing lots of bullets in the general direction will accomplish that nicely. If you actually want to hit what you're shooting at you fire a burst
A point I wonder if the political game will ever get behind -- stop blowing these issues out of proportion into white lies or straight up lies, and just be honest about what they are. I think the point to ban bump stocks is a good one, but why spread misinformation? It's just... mad that our President continues to spread misinformation where it isn't necessary. I mean, is it intentional for sensationalism, or is he just ignorant? I get that this kind of thing is expected within the media and within politics, but holy hell is it stupid and wrong. IMO.
For those of you who like to skip around, here ya go!

Philip DeFranco hi 👋 how’s your day been?
Philip DeFranco mmm my daily philly D -steak
THANKSSS
Philip DeFranco Awesome, thank you 😊
Is blac chyna related to orange Indonesya?
You know what, It's actually important for people like Elizabeth to pull these stunts. It let's you see where your programs need work.
that's why in FRC if a team makes a bot that exploytes a loop hole in the rules they automatically win the season
AND LETS JUST JUMP INTO IT.
Directionally Challenged That’s kinda my opinion. It was a mostly harmless stunt and it exposed a loophole in the system.
Directionally Challenged that's actually an argument that I didn't think about before. Good point.
It's the same concept as IT companies paying people to search for bugs and exploits, you need to know the faults in your systems to actually combat and fix them. I don't know how much Elizabeth's exploitation was meant for her own personal gain, but either way it was actually good that it was done this way, now they'll actually change things.
That is god level scheming, Elizabeth. Well done 😂😂😂
I agree that we need guns to protect us but phones can't kill
Jack Hileman wrong comment bro, check again
Jack Hileman dude... What?
AND LETS JUST JUMP INTO IT.
don't think she is only one. There are atheletes who switched cuz their home country is too competitive, or some just really want to walking in the ceremony parade. maybe the just want special samsung Note 8 that's handing out to atheletes.
"He's a career politician. Who knows where he lies?"
It's everywhere, Phil. He lies everywhere.
it is literally in his job description to lie.
Ever since jacksfilms I can't hear "let's just jump into it" the same
Grizzly Garage Letz juss jump right intooit!
That’s finna woke
SUuhp ya beautiful basterds!
Same
I was just thinking that!
I never noticed it before, but it kills me now lol
I’m sorry Phil but Jackfilms has messed with the way I hear “let’s just jump into it”. It will never sound the same again. 😢
L E T S J U S T J U M P I N T O I T
Agreed
Travis Desjardins 😂
I loved that video but feel Jack missed an opportunity to use his name, Jack, as a verb pun
Travis Desjardins yo that's finna woke
I'm not mad that she made it to the olympics through a loophole what got me concerned is that she got selected and didnt think "Hey maybe I should learn at least one trick to do in the olympics"
I was listening without headphones......they came by
marco marquez
act natural
I was listening WITH headphones and they STILL came by.
RIP
If I learned anything these past few years, it's that you can become anything no matter how incompetent
well rather than 'incompetent' its even if you aren't 'talented'. It takes competence to play the system like that, its a special mixture of effort and observation.
"If ya smear enough grease on anything it'll eventually slide one way or another."
- Greasy Steve
Olympian, Actor, Musician, Singer, President... The list goes on.
Trump is proof of that.
She is the only one in half pipe that did it that way, but not the only athlete over all. Many ion cross country did it as well as some in bob sleigh.
She finessed the hell out of the Olympics. I don’t know whether to be proud of her, angry or impressed.
Camilla B same , I’m so confused 😂😂😂
All......do it all
I'm all of the above, impressed that this actually worked, proud for going through with it, but kinda angry cause most athletes at the Olympics literally trade their life, future, education etc to be there so it is not very respectful. Although the latter is more an issue of the system, not hers.
It's like going to University just to get drunk at college parties and flunk out at the end of the year
I'm all 3.
Who the hell is black China.
Questchaun I envy your lack of knowledge in this case
Sounds like Joanie Laurer coming back from the dead
She is horrific!
Questchaun the name of what sounds like a badass cartoon on adult swim
It's Blac Chyna.
Thank you for always standing up for the victim!!!
I think Elizabeth Swaney's story is funny. She worked hard- just in a different way. And it isn't actually hurting anyone.
Ghoul
Oh no, poor country 😭😭😭
Guy Lloyd 😂😂😂
Brynley Louise yup, so agree
Theres already a movie about her case. Eddy the Eagle
Brynley Louise She is occupying the place of another athlete who actually deserve to be there.
Elizabeth just trolled the Olympics. That's badass...
You need to look up Eddie the eagle! He is amaz8ng and made it to the olympics with the odds against him. A feel good story.
It was probably so bad to watch, but mad respect for doing it XD
It weird that I see ur comments alot
Trolled? More like cheated the faulty system. But of course anything gets you praise these days.
When the banks trolled the american people and gamed the system, we all were rightfully angry because they essentially stole money meant for the people. The only thing different in this case is she did it to fewer, more niche people.
Can we PLEASE get a "But let's just jump into it " shirt?? I'd buy it!

Don't know if you read this Phil but you have to retract what you said about Logan. I just watched 'Matty Love 2 debunks' which proved Logan faked the suicide with an actor. You were wrong! And I want to help!!
Dean Pritchard lol got me
Dalek Bricks same!
Cindy O'Neil LMAO THIS COMMENT IS BEAUTIFUL
Elizabeth Swaney trolled the Olympics. I ain't even mad, that's fucking hilarious.
she's my new favorite person
Y’all need to look up Eddie the eagle. He did a similar thing with the odds against him, except he did the most scary event, those crazy jumps.
Merritt McKinney don't hate the player, hate the game
get over it. stop taking everything so serious

It *sucks* that there might be a *gag* order for the video. These were also puns.
going viral is also a pun in this case.

Well, you just got *Phil’D* in
eli m. Ordis needs to fix that..
I have always dreamt about Philip talking about my country... not what I expected, but it finally happened today! Yaay for Hungary
I would barely even called that a loophole, Swaney just played smart. If she had somehow screwed over someone more talented by cheating the system I would say... hey man that's not cool. But she just did the damn thing. And she was 100% straight with everyone with what she was doing and what her intentions her. More power to her.
Idk wether the first woman is a genius or I should be mad 😂 She played it WELL!! Hahahaha
Elizabeth Swaney isn't the hero the US needs, but she is the hero the US deserves...
Honestly she is truly brilliant though.
Eva McDermott yes untalented people and take advantage from other people mistake
Trump's US deserves her.
So she's batwoman?
Hempev funny you say that, its also because of the mentality of people like her that caused people to vote for trump
XRated 67 I hope you're a troll. Otherwise you are getting way too worked up over a funny situation. Chill out kiddo
Elizabeth Swanie is hilarious, I love it.
Jenette Green She is my new hero! That is true Olympic spirit!!! Love it.
The sex noises were priceless 😂
George Shiepe I was sitting next to my parents when that went off
Bailey, well, that must be awkward
Joseph Wolfson yeah just had to show them what it was but at first they looked pissed
The first time I watch a video without earphones in months lol
George Shiepe my mom was right next to me when that happened
And my phone was at full volume 😢
Just looked up 'gerry mandering' in The Dictionary, there's a map of Pennsylvania with the word "this" underneath.
Even the dictionary doesn't know how to define it.
I love your videos, Phil! You breakdown and explain the news in a way that makes it easier to understand the various components of each story.
As Kanye once said
“Mitt Romney don’t pay no tax. Mitt Romney don’t pay no tax.”
Culture Vulture if he doesn't pay no tax that means he pays tax right?

Elizabeth saw a bug and exploited it. Have a problem? Blame the bug.
Hellion Shark Yes, let's congratulate her for being the least skilled/competent Olympic competitor ever. 😂😂😂
LykeLyqwid It's an achievement on its own, is it not? :D
Hellion Shark Hahaha, maybe. But I think there are some things that just aren't worth bragging about 😂
Glitching one's way into the Olympics being one of them.
So, with Americans, We do need to fill the loopholes.
*Don't attempt to swallow the skies, it may cause death.
Hellion Shark preach
"The fuck was that?" Made me laugh harder than the moan did. xD
100% agreed! That was a great fake reaction.
I was not wearing headphones... guess how that turned out.
YanHuang Game I didn’t understand that joke....
YanHuang Game What?
Lmao 8:01 watch the video you buttnuggets
He’s talking about the moaning sounds around 8:07
Have you people seen the video?
These are always my favorite type of Olympic stories. Good luck to all the blaggers and chancers out there! You are my hero's xx
The funniest comment I saw was “no wonder Rob was depressed” 😂😂
So happy I was wearing earbuds...
TheHANburgler sucks I wasn't
Lol
👊
Dont scare me like that
I didn't I live alone 😏
I feel like Mitt Romney here is just being polite. He's not saying, "I accept your endorsement." I feel like that response was more,"...K. Thx but these people elect me not you." I feel like that was the best way for him to not lose Trump supporters and keep "Never Trump-ers" in the same breath.
MegaNerd42 I truly think you hit the nail on the head.
Nah, he’s just a pancake that’ll flip on a whim
I agree. Romney will accept Trumps endorsement but he probably won’t return the favor next presidential cycle.
Slave: please, leave me alone!
Slave master: Don't hate the player hate the game (punches the slave).
That's why that phrase is stupid.
erzan And that's exactly the reason why people knew there was something wrong with the laws and system, which is why it's necessary for these things to happen in order for change to occur.
"He is a career politician. Who knows where he lies?"
I do. He lies here. He lies there. He lies everywhere.
Solid wordplay
10/10 burn.
Yeah mitt Romney is just a sheep
When you put happy stuff first, I'm always a little hopeful that the rest of the stories do not bring my mood down lol
The moan killed me
Keenan Smith i blew a damn booger out
Thank God I have headphones
Keenan Smith Uncomfortaaaablllle.
Keenan Smith read this while that exact moment happened
I mean, gerrymandering is a damn sexual issue, I'd understand it... said noone ever.
...How is it that Elizabeth Swaney is a hero? Played the system? Hustle hard? She went down the half pipe at the slowed pace that wasn't crawling against people who trained relentlessly in competition with themselves and their peers. She's out of Oakland, but represented Hungary 😅
Lazysav american hero statement was a joke. The hustle part was true. She did the work. She played the game just not the sport
She is a perfect BSer
I respect her beating the system but accepting donations to preform a shit show so you can cross something out of your bucket list is sad.
Elizabeth Swaney can tell her grandchildren that she gamed the Olympic rules instead of competing in the Olympics.
dpe4 much better story imo
I am so fuckin glad I found your UA-cam channel awhile back. You are my one consistent source of news. No matter what, I always make time to watch your videos every day and stay updated. I also love reading the comment section and hearing all the different perspectives from your audience. Thank you for your hard work ❤️
allison north don't know if Phil said anything back then but welcome to the nation.
Agreed !!
Welcome to the Nation!
All Trump did was reformulate what's already in place to make it sound like it's new measures being put in place, to appease the ignorant that don't already know it's in place.
because a moron who just wants to kill people should have to put more effort in than just buying accessories?
if they are so useless why should they remain legal?
+B H So you want anything that is deemed useless to be illegal?
Thanks for sharing this information.
If people wanna act like he's some kinda turncoat for not getting into a Tweet war with not just the President but Donald Trump of all people, then people are just looking for more reasons to throw a fit.
damn, sure hope so. seems like hes just controlling the game so far to ease his way into the senate. lets hope hes the republican defense we need
As someone else pointed out, more people die to fireworks than bumpstocks. NOBODY should be in favor of such frivilous and worthless laws.
George Kaftan except we would stand a chance. They cant use jets and tanks and drones against us, collateral damage would be too high and the rebellion would boom. Even if half of us took up arms 165 million armed people, that would be the largest fighting force on earth
+George Kaftan
You're right, we wouldn't stand a chance with bumpstocks.
Sebastian Hellsing I agree with this so much.
I'm sure her donators appreciated her "struggle" if you can even call it that.
"the essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well"
She fought well cheating her way in, that's all.
I know it’s not the perfect solution, but wouldn’t it be alot more transparent/easier to have a commission or non-legislative governmental third party (like Election Canada) take care of elections maps
gerrymandering has it's place, and it's just been abused
Blac chyna leaked it she has an album coming out lmao it’s all promo good or bad
Tyrion Lannister lmao please tell me she doesn’t
if her head game is any indication of her singing it needs to go straight in the garbage
its genuine trash she leaked a snippet via tmz last year its absolute garbage
Brie wait till you hear the song(s?) Kim made
Thank you my lord
yea she learnt from the Kardashian, 'leaked' sextape = free promotion.
im kinda torn on the Elizabeth issue as she did stay within the rules, but those skiiers and tbh athletes in general who work their asses off but still arent getting in would just feel like their hard work wont pay off unless they manipulate the system. what she did wasnt fair but i suppose she does deserve to be there since she got in. just maybe not as deserving as everyone else who played fairly.
Tangina Taiyeba any of those more qualified people could’ve done exactly what she did and got in over her. She exposed a flaw in the system and that’s what is incredible
matthew zimmers you're right, that's why I'm on the fence about it
how did they not get in? did they perform worse than her, who mostly finished last in everything?
Yeah, it's really annoying, but you have to give her credit for playing the system like that.
“Wow” - Owen Wilson
I'm pro-Second Amendment and I have no issue with the Government banning aftermarket parts that modify a gun to work in a way where it mimics a banned gun.
1-Machine guns are not banned. 2-If you think they will stop at bump stocks you are a fool. 3- you are NOT pro second amendment. Shall not be infringed!
Hazmat 13 As a fellow pro gunner, same.
If you don’t understand banning parts is one of the worst things you can do to gun rights than you are not pro 2a.
sadly most people on your side of the issue arent as reasonable as you....when you evenmention banning certain weapons, they immediately react with "they wanna toook ooooorrrrrrrrrr gunsssss!"(read that in the south park "they took orrrrr jobs!" accent), and usa will keep suffering from mass school shootings as a result.
If there was an Olympic medal for just barely slacking your way through, Elizabeth deserves first place.
That Elizabeth story is hilarious lol
Something similar happend 4 years ago with famous violinist Vanessa Mae
www.independent.co.uk/sport/olympics/revealed-how-vanessa-mae-fiddled-her-way-into-skiing-at-the-winter-olympics-9854822.html
What's even funnier is that she had tried to represent Venezuela in the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games in skeleton! hahahah www.parkrecord.com/sports/liz-swaney-strives-for-olympic-spot/
Now that's what i call dedication!!! lol
Law Hansel how is this funny?you sound like your cut from the same cloth as her.
Bob Hacker It's messed up that she was able to get in, but at the end of the day, with the amount of effort she put in to get in, and the fact that it's only one person who managed to get a relatively insignificant spot is pretty humorous. If you are honestly upset by something like this, you really should rethink your attitude.
ace power they got gold in mental gymnastics lmao
The comparison is ludicrous
Isn't Mitt a known flip-flopper anyway? I seem to recall back in his bid to become President it was pointed out that he catered his views to please his base and went back on pervious things he had said...am I wrong?
Nice Guys finish last, and Elizabeth Swaney You're one hell of a guy !!! BRAVO !!!!
Gerrymandering is my kink.
Phil - "Gerrymandering"
Me -
Not my proudest wank, but #NoShame
I don’t get it. Can some explain it?
Marcos Estrada it is boring
I'd have much more respect for Elizabeth if she had tried to do tricks and failed spectacularly.
Same ^^; I'd have liked to have seen her actually try to do something...
Agreed
Mishka Rae • Girl Gamer at least it would've been something like "Olympian has accident during trick" instead of "Olympian doesn't even try"
Sorry, but I'm pretty sure she didn't get into the Olympics to impress you, or anyone for that matter. She wanted to be in the Olympics, so she got herself into the Olympics. Life dream accomplished.
but she did do tricks, she tricked the system
As a Hungarian, I think Elizabeth's story is fantastic.
Elizabeth wins worlds best troller
xXSETHPROXx cant be a troll if she didnt even know she was
Damn it Phil I was helping my dad look for birthday messages for my mom when the sex noises came up, the one time i dont use headphones lol.
dont be mad at the girl just look at the whole thing as the funniest thing i've ever seen haha
Definitely the funniest thing I've seen all day! >
I agree ^^; The least she could've done was attempt to learn the sport she was qualifying for, to put in even a token effort.
I would have had more respect for her if she had attempted tricks and absolutely bombed than what she did.
Mishka Rae • Girl Gamer exactly
44WCF 1892 The last map "actually" favored Republicans, so there's that.
Ok someone explain to me whatsup with the moans 😂
Ikr 😂
He was making the joke that talking about gerrymandering is sexy.
What joke? ITS FACT *heavy moans*
malbolt but whats gerrymandering? He said it was fucking with the countries representives.
yea... so? What's your point? I never said otherwise.
I agreed with you about Elizabeth UNTIL you said she paid for it with online donations. The second she used anyone else's money to pay for that farce she shit on every other contestant.
capness1228 it's not like she swindled it out of them, they happily donated
Generally pro-gun here and I've always wondered how bump stocks remained legal. It's literally designed to circumvent the law by making a legal weapon act like an "illegal" weapon (technically you can own fully-automatic weapons, but it is MUCH more expensive and strictly regulated). While I'm sure there are plenty of responsible gun owners who think bump stocks are fun, I don't think anybody is going to put up much of a fight on this one. It effects barely a percentage of gun owners.
Doesn't matter either way, you don't even need a Bump Stock to make a gun shoot faster.
I literally don't know how to respond to that. "you don't even need a Bump Stock to make a gun shoot faster." Faster than what? You aren't going to pull the trigger faster than a bump stock bounces. You can correct me if I'm wrong, but you either have little to no experience with guns or you're trolling.
"Don't hate the player hate the game!" always make me laugh phil
Julian De La Calzada It is a common saying
Feels pretty cool to have Phil talking about my state and showing my state.. 😱
Cocktails & Consoles as Phil just said don't hate the player hate the game🤷🏽♂️
Game the system? Yep, no plans to do it
Cocktails & Consoles its less that she didn't try and more that she was not talented enough to perform the manuvers.
The fact that she found away to do it is impressive she won't be able to do it again and she lived out her dream of being there not winning just being there and I think that's kinda awesome but also bad because she beat out someone else that should have been there
I lost it when you talked about gerrymandering haha love you Phil
14:10 "Who knows where he lies?"
*Everywhere*. You just said he's a career politician. They lie everywhere.
A lady lived her dream. She tried and she gone done it. Respect.
I obviously didn't go looking
through her competition history but from what Phil said, it seems like
she's bad enough that literally anybody who really wanted to be in the
Olympics would've gotten her spot. Also remember she only made it
because of some injuries. I think anyone at all who would have done even
remotely better was either already in or was one of the injured
athletes.
It kind of takes away from the sport as a whole
youuploader 1 yep
Didn't he specifically mention that he appreciated the Republican's efforts to game the system?
Well it's fucking not because as he stated, there's a difference, god learn what hypocritical means -_- or better yet, learn to listen, since he clearly stated he has a dislike for both.
Gerrymandering is illegal tho lmao
As someone who has done a bit of a "rules lawyer" myself there IS a difference between
"The letter of the law" and "The spirit of the law".
Well spotted sir i have fixed my spelling mistake. to be sure that if we can't say what we mean we will never mean what we say.
Well i could change it back but it would likely incur an editing fee as the first one was free. :)
Im Hungarian and this is funny as hell
Michael Gibb or Eddie the eagle
Wise Guy Or the Jamaican bobsled team.
That and I’m pretty sure not 100% but I think there’s a Nigerian bobsled team THIS YEAR
You're absolutely right. According to Wikipedia Nigeria has 3 women competing in two events: two-women bobsleigh, and skeleton.
Love the new timestamps, always love new updates :)
umm i guess this is a headphones show now?
Gabbi Hicks fr😂😂😂
I was having breakfast with dad listening to Phil without headphones on for the FIRST TIME EVER! -_-
Well I'm glad I read this comment before I watched the video
It has *_always_*_ been a headphone show_
have u just discovered the internet?
I’m at university listening without headphones! Thanks Phil!
Ellie Scott link to video? ;)
I usually hate dumb Instagram videos that slip in sex moans, but this, this was tastefully done and hilarious. Well played.
i dunno if i will buy the shirt but the "why be informed" statement is one of my absolute favorite things you have ever said!
That feelings t-shirt will go great against the idiots who believed the Black Panther assaults from yesterday.
I'm not huge on the Olympics... but... that conjurers the phrase aggressive mediocrity it mind.
"our own military rarely uses full auto"
That couldn't be more false, they use full autos all the time in the Military.
What I meant was they rarely use the full auto capabilities. They have the option but are trained to use full auto in bursts rather than just laying down on the trigger.
to be fair, some of the early designs had springs which iirc the ATF said was illegal. but yeah... stupid accessory for wasting ammo.
IMO.
Today I just, jumped into it, and i'm never looking back!
