Porsche 996 Turn Signal Fix (and Headlight Removal)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 12 вер 2024
- Walkthrough of the process for removing the headlight assembly on a 996 generation 911 in order to resolve a common problem with the driver side turn signal. The car featured in this video is a 2004, but most of this information should be applicable across the 996.1 and 996.2 line, sans a few minor assembly differences to account for xenon vs halogen headlamps.

This is information, that before the internet was priceless. THis was the type of info only a shop would know. UA-cam has def made the world smaller for us gear heads!!!
This is a perfect instructional video. My issue was also the tab, which I never would have guessed. You saved me hours. Thanks for taking the time to do this.
Glad it was the same issue and helpful! And you're very welcome!
+1 from me. Same symptoms: fast flash on left rear end, no flashing on the left front. Light bulb OK. Contacts between bulb and holder clean. I just had to carefully bend open that one contact within the headlamp chassis as shown in the video, and everything went back to normal. Thanks much!
Yes! Glad this was the issue and it fixed your turn signal! 😃
Worked like a champ. Another reason for the bad connection was arcing on the contact. Make sure to sandpaper the bulb fixture contact as well as the housing contact. Thanks for the excellent video.
Glad it was helpful and thank you very much for that extra bit of information!
Thanks - worked for me!
I can't wait to try this. Shop quoted me 3700$ cdn for a replacement headlight unit.
Hope this works for you... No better feeling than a simple fix saving you a load of money!
Holy fucking shit!!!! 911 is my dream car. However, I was too much of an idiot when I was younger and I wasted my life. Now, I dream and look at them on YT. Maybe one day
@@DrMurdercock don't stop dreaming! And these cars are a lot easier to maintain than most. Really a joy to own, even for us mere mortals. Cheers!
Worked! Thanks
excellent explanation! Very helpful :)
Thanks! Fixed my issue!
So....this fix did not work for me...am I now left only with a full replacement? No corrosion, bulb was good...I may try and diagnose with voltage regulator....but is that not a sealed unit? Darn man...was hoping cleaning, adjusting contacts and dielectric grease would have proved successful.
Are you able to read voltage at the fender terminal? Also, the same-side rear is working fine? (trying to rule out the relay)
@@helixroad yes. Same side rear signal works fine....but blinks fast. I will try to find voltage at the fender terminal.
